This is more of a tournament question I know in friendly games it should not be a big deal. But say you collect two different Marine chapters let's say ultras and Dark Angels. Now if I was playing all ultra force and my list showed it but brought some dark angel pods or rhinos (something both books have access to)to fill the gap in models not painted for that chapter, is this acceptable?
Hope this question makes sense, Thanks!

I don't see a problem with it. As long as it's wysiwyg (as I know many tournies require this) you should be fine. I also know some tournaments where your models must have 2 (or 3, I forget) colours on it so it looks purty. All things considered, you're fine.

Generally most people won't care about the color of your stuff so long as they have the correct equipment.
Unless you're playing Orks. Because Ork Vehicles must be red. NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS!

I feel like my Renegades are obligated to have nonstandard models in everyway. This is why I'm converting my tanks from Marders and Pz. IIIs, and not having any sort of unified paint scheme.

It's a little more difficult question with the modern rules than it used to be, because now it's quite possible to mix Ultramarines and Dark Angles and actually have it be a significant impact, instead of just being a bunch of marines with different colored armor.

I believe the OP in this case is simply referring to using DA pods or vehicles as "counts as" Ultramarine equipment. Which, if that is indeed the case, I and most people I know wouldn't have an issue with it as long as the player makes clear that they are from the same chapter/army type deal.

But also phrased it as a tounrament related question, which are more likely to have particular rules, although the exact answer is going to be dependont on the tournament and the rules they decide to use.

I wouldn't have a problem with it in any setting as long as you knew what you were up against.
Couldn't do it myself though, those colours must match. My army will be colour coordinated lol

If it's a tournament question, the only person who's opinion matters is the TO.
Find out their contact info and ask them. You'll get the answer you need.

Step 1: Make up a chapter name
Step 2: say they are counts as suchandsuch chapter for rules purposes. (In this case UM.)
step 3: If anyone gives you grief about different colors, just tell them your chapter uses an extreme color coding system. (a lot of chapters do, but it's usually just pads and helmet colors.)
I highly doubt anyone is going to have a significant problem with it, but should you run into the situation, the steps above will get your marines on the table.

Just make sure your opponent knows it's a single marine chapter rather than mixed.
As this day and age its possible to run ultras alongside dark angels.
Other than that, I don't see any issues.

I'm likely to start IG again. If I get stuff used this time, I'm not going to repaint it. It is well documented in the fluff that there would be forces.from many different planets and regiments on a particular battlefield at one time.
You can do the same, just call them a 'crusade' force.

this is a loaded question if any, specifically in WYSIWYG is standard and many DA and UM do not share the same weapons on their vehicles and such, in regulation tournaments this is not allowed local game play, iffy at best since many play with if you don't got it, you can substitute it, albeit there are several that do allow substitutions, so in effect it all depends on who you are playing and which way the local tourney will go, i've been noticing a trend in local tourney play that are veering away from substitution due to demand by those who spend more money in those stores.
In other words there is no right or wrong answer to this, it all depends on who you play with.

Not really. The base scheme all matches but have at least 3 or 4 different variants. One for the base Guard, one for the mechanicus troops (the handful of Tempestus has the same pattern), another for my "SM", and a blue, silver, gold and black pattern for a few tanks I got from warhammer world when I was on vacation once. In the end they are all in the same big army but changing it upskeeps it interesting.

The only real issue would come up if you were using allies.
There are minor WYSWYG quibbles, but unless you are pressing a lot of other hot-buttons, those can be swept under the rug.
