Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Holy Terra.

SHOOT THEM! In AoS ranged attacks have become really OP, in my opinion. A few shots from my jezzails, my WLC and my Mortars mean that the enemy has a worse chance of passing Battle Schock tests. So they all run. That is how you play and scenario.

I played this scenario the other day. i just threw everything but my Lord Relictor them. That way, I was able to get to 20 fairly easily, as my priest buffed the dice rolls I made.

Yeah, I was really looking for more tactics as the disrupter. It seems the ritualist can win this with their eyes closed!

The closest i have come to disrupting the ritual is by selecting a model within a fast unit as my first general and trying to sweep in around a less defended side. Then giving that unit defensive buffs to keep them alive. Then run at the other side with my hero who will be the secondary general. My Gyrocopters were actually touching the artifact, but then i lost the initiative roll off and made exactly 1 too few saves during the oppenents turn. The second general got tied up too far out and did not make it to the artifact in time. That is the closest i have seen anyone get

Wow, I had never thought of it. Choose your general from a 30-40 wound unit and put every buff you can on it. It's probably the best way to make sure your general doesn't just get sniped.

Cool, I am definitely going to try this next time I am the disrupter.

Well to start the scenario is indeed more difficult for the disrupter - it even says so in the description. Giving the disrupter a bit of an edge in army composition (1'd say 25% more 'points' or equivalent, so in this case 25-20) is probably the best way to even out the scenario. But at any rate, on to tactics. Knowing you I'll skip the cheese-to-win bit...

A good first step is to assume your starting general will NOT be the one to disrupt the ritual. You don't pick a new hero (read: hero, so it cant be a dude in a unit) until the general dies, which means that effectively your 'Schrodinger's general' is every other hero you have until the first general dies. Take advantage of this. Bum rush the artifact with as many heroes as possible while your main general hangs back for a few turns. Then get him killed. Models that can attack in melee MUST attack in melee, so your enemy can't opt to just 'let him live' in melee. This works particularly well if your first general is a large monster that tears up enemies anyways; it forces the ritualist to deal with him. It works even better if your general can also fly and gets close enough to threaten the artifact (remember that flyers can retreat out of combat and go right over the unit they were fighting with!) Once your first general is down for the count, its a matter of picking the most survivable hero closest to the artifact.

All really sound advice. I am hoping to play this game again as the disrupter when points come out and set the disrupter with 33% more points.

So you can choose your first general from a unit if you wanted to (I think it is an interesting idea) but your second-in-command must be a Hero. I think the optimal choice for second-in-command would be Valkia the Bloody - mainly because she can fly and is on a very small base (allowing her to get close). Too bad I don't play Bloodbound!

Alternatively I could try it as you say and make my general something like an Empire General on Griffin as they are a big nasty monster that can fly and cause problems. The only problem I see is how hard it can be to hide a big monster out of LOS. In the game I played in the OP my opponent took Arkhan as his general, and with no terrain that could block LOS for such a large model, I shot him off the board in a turn of cannon fire.
