So the fluff for my upcoming Deathrattle army is that all the soldiers were oath-bound to guard their master's castle until the end of times, both in life as in death, and they've now been roused back to life by their revived king. To indicate the passage of time, their armour would be rusted, discoloured, etc. and more importantly, covered by patches of moss (as their king's castle lies at the center of a massive forest).
Now the rust and wear I can simulate with
GW's technical paints and such, but I'm not sure how I could paint/create some realistic-looking moss. I was thinking of applying thick sand or something to the model and then paint it in various shades of green, or using a mix of dark and light-coloured static grass, but I'm not sure if that would net me the desired result.
Anyone got some advice on how I could best handle this?
