Yes, start with the basic farseer and then change his pose, his robes, his weapon, and every single detail on the whole miniature and you have the new miniature. How lazy of them.

Sure I never mentioned "lazy" in there. Just a comment on reusing part of the previous sculpt.

At first glance I saw the similarities, but with a lengthy look, it is a different model altogether. Definitely they took inspiration from the old model, but it is a completely new sculpt with it's own new mold.

The BlackShield refers to their right shoulder pauldron being blacked out. The big Shields are just Storm shields.

Why then, if it is just a blacked out shoulder pad, couldn't a mini have a jump pack?

Any idea as to whether we'll see the Deathwatch upgrade sprue as its own standalone kit? I'd love to see it for sale, although to be honest it's looking like they're tacking on $5-7 to the price of existing kits to include the upgrade. The Terminator Captain is technically cheaper, although who knows since they've never sold him on his own before.

not my ebay auction, but they are already there! $7.75 each & $8.41 postage.

I foresee 54mm Inquisitor Scale returning in the near future.

I'd like to see Covenant return in 40k 28mm scale though.... All those oldies a matter of fact.

Did I read that right? DW Veterans don't have bolt pistols??????

( looking at all his counts as DW/SG...with bolt pistols....)
This is correct. They do not, nor do they have any way of getting them. It also makes Rodricus Grytt's loadout (Frag Cannon and Bolt Pistol with an added CCW) illegal. Also, Drenn Redblade has an extra CCW. They appear to be the only ones that are wrong from Kill Team Cassius though. What does make things more hilarious is that GW is re-releasing Kill Team Cassius, despite it having illegal loadouts.

Given that Kill Team Cassius is a named formation, who cares if the loadouts don't exactly match the codex?

They've been making it for quite some time that special characters have loadouts that others might not get access to; so is it really that much of a surprise that named formations(which are essentially special character versions of units) have loadouts that are not necessarily usable?
That is certainly true. I just find it pretty funny. I hope they revamp the rules for Kill Team Cassius to be more in line with the codex though (give the units Mission Tactics, allow Kill Team Cassius to be used in a Black Spear Strike Force).

If they had wanted Kill Team Cassius to be in line with the Codex, they would have made it actually be present within the codex.

Watch Captain Artemis isn't in the book either, so unless they're seriously planning the "all free digital download for the bulk of the material with specific formations tied to campaign books" route like AoS for 8th edition, I would be surprised as hell to see KTC get updated.

Artemis is mentioned on 34 as a Watch Captain, so use page 74 to "create" him or use the Masque stats for him if your opponent will allow it (I guess)....

QUESTION - The Corvus states it can transport 12 models. Then says including bikers and jump infantry. Nowhere does it say that jump or bikers take up two spots. On page 45 it shows Kill Team Cassius/Strategium Command Team debarking from a single Corvus. So, can I have 1 Corvus for my Kill Team Cassius/Strategium Command Team?

What I don't understand is the above model is $30 CAN and only $25 American; the base captain kit in CAN was $25, so I have to pay an additional $5+tax for the upgrade sprue?. Why are the prices still so vastly different when us Canadians on top of that pay more sales tax. The Landraider combo box is $95 in the States only $80.

Now my knowledge of economics is rather limited but I'm still confused.

Look forward to Saturday though when they post up the next round of kits.

There's a huge pdf on GW site that explains prices, taxes, fees that the import country imposes on top of the retail pricing which alters prices in each country....

Because you aren't real North Americans obviously.

What I don't understand is how the SM Commander (base kit) is £14 and the upgraded version is £15. Has someone ballsed up on the pricing at HQ?

Maybe because they added the DW sprue to it for an additional £1?

Quick question about the Kill Team Cassius (aka Strategium Command Team)... are the points the same (if you calculated in the DW codex) as they were in the Overkill booklet? If yes, okay. If not, could one use the points/stats of the Cassius team from the Overkill supp?

It's Kill Team Cassius. A Strategium Command Team is a unique formation from the Deathwatch Codex, with the Mission Tactics special rule and more besides.

Kill Team Cassius was a promotional tie-in to Overkill.
... are the points the same (if you calculated in the DW codex) as they were in the Overkill booklet? If yes, okay.

Do you not have the book or something? It's easy enough to figure out if the points are the same or not.
If not, could one use the points/stats of the Cassius team from the Overkill supp?

No, because that's from White Dwarf for Overkill and released before the Deathwatch book came out. None of the specific stuff that released with Overkill is the same as the Deathwatch book. The Frag Cannon doesn't have the same unique rules, there's no Relics on anyone(Cassius is stated to have the Tome of Ectoclades in Overkill but doesn't have the Relic itself), no Mission Tactics, etc etc.

They're "Deathwatch Faction" but lack all the Deathwatch rules.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if when we see the Genestealer Cultists get their own book there was some stuff we did not get with the WD release that makes them a heck of a lot scarier.

Cool. I asked because the Cassius set is the pic of the Strategium Command entry in the codex. I'll start crunching numbers....

You sure? Unit getting released in codex did not invalidate it's rules in WD(space wolves priest thing you can now field both HQ and elite) nor did new version of supplement invalidate formation from old version of same supplement(greentide)...

GW seems to be on opinion it's released, it's legal to use whether new version has been released or not.

That's not the question I was replying to though, now was it?

The points and stats of the Cassius team from the Overkill rules are in line with it, but no models have the special rules contained within the Deathwatch faction.

This may be a case where the DW codex might benefit the Cassius team (you can still make the Cassius team by using the codex) better than the entry from overkill. I think it would come down to your opponents okay. On a side note, we have Artemis, where he's not in the codex but the Masque set has his points/stats. So, would one be allowed to use that supplement/wd for Artemis or would one require the DW player to "make" him using the DW codex? (Which might turn out the same anyways)...
