First some lore behind the Pyran pattern Wyvern mk2.
During the campaign to retake the hive city Vertis on Pyra it was found that the traitor guard had fortified every block in the city to drag out the fight for as long as possible. One year later and frustrated by their lack of progress in the fight the Pyran high command looked around to find something to help them, eventually they found the Terphion Wyvern and ordered a few for combat tests. While the the weaponary was formidable in the joob to clear out the enemy it was deemed to vulnerable due to having little to no crew protection, so a program was started to make a quik refit of over 1000 Wyverns which eventually became the Pyran pattern Wyvern mk1, while it did its purpose of protecting the crew it was deemed to big and was denied so the mk2 was made which had a sloped plastic steel to reduce the profil. As the profile could not become any smaller without redesigning the entire tank it was seen as enough and was accepted into service.
Background to why I made this conversion was that the GW Wyvern just looks silly with guns on the side making reloading awkward and just a weird looking layout so I decided to make my own version with crew protection.
So lets start with the Terphion (not my tank)
Pretty tank but I wanted something more unique so I first got this.
This is the mk1 and was a very boxy tank and I was not happy with it, so a few months passed by and armed with proper tools I decided to remake it completly and after some quik inspiration from FWs Basilisk kit I made this.
The gun can be removed from the tank to make it easier to paint and then I can create another part that could have a Basilisk gun.
Added some roof armor and a few rivets + dry fit of some stuff.
Size comparison.
Nearly done with the riveting and sanded down all slopes to make a better fit.
Hull is pretty much the normal hull but added bits so I could just add a normal Wyvern weapon station in the future.
Gun removed with guard for scale and as you can see its quite a big vehicle, all thats left now are more bits and the lovely rivets
So what do you think about the Wyvern Pyran pattern mk2?

Possibly a little over-sized for my personal tastes, but quite cool! Good job on the rivets.
Would match up well with the FW Armageddon-style vehicles: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Armageddon-Pattern-Medusa https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Armageddon-Pattern-Basilisk

Oversized isn't really an issue (some real-world tanks had ridiculously oversized turrets) but it sits a bit far back... Some sort of support struts at the rear of the tank would help.
Nice job on the turret, though.

Looks a liiiiiiittle back-heavy but I love the design. Automatically Appended Next Post: I would honestly try to make a slightly closed in Terphion.

Bit late of an reply but yeah I agree that it turned out a bit big and next time im gonna make another Wywern I will try to lower the turret. I also decided to follow the advice given to make the rear longer but that will take some days to complete as im converting another Chimera and starting on a bashed up Baneblade but I finished the riveting on the tank/turret along with some bitz.
However I still feel it lacks stuff on the open areas but at the same time I like the clean space, will probably just add some smoke launchers.
For the rear im gonna re add the fuel tanks + adding some support sort of like this.
Allthough they will not spread out from the tank and hopefully I can make them go up and down if I can just find some tubes that fit my current ones.

You might consider Kromlech's assault tank dozer blades, they do pretty nicely on the back of a Chimera for a recoil spade option...

Looking good so far, keep up the good work.
I think a recoil spade on the back would do better, the overhang at the back is what makes it look unbalanced, so giving it some visual form of support would be to the benefit.
Liking your swingback Chimeras, they always turn out nicely when handled smoothly.

Not sure you need the Vindicator shield at the front - seems impractical, and more importantly would look odd combined with a rear recoil/stability spade which you need far more.
Another thought - can you redesign the 'turret' so its turret ring mount is further back, i.e. thus bringing the turret bulk further to the front? (Hopefully that would be a simple razor saw job, and not wreck the turret work you've done.)

Saura:
Yeah recoil spade still sounds good will see what I can make out of my bitz box.
Clang:
Sadly I cant remove the original Wyvern turret ring without causing a mess as I built the rear section as the normal tank but I will keep the option open if the recoil spade dosent fit.

I meant remove and relocate the turret mounting (whatever it is) from the bottom of the turret? I agree it looks impractical to move the turret ring on the hull.

Nicely executed. Looking forward to seeing more progress. I do like the rear balanced chimera concept.

I think this is a great idea, but I personally just cant get over how massive the turret section is.
When I imagine it firing, i just picture the tank falling over backwards.
I mean, it looks great, just a little on the big side for my taste.
Im sure it will look better when painted and with the support struts in place.
Excellent moddleing too. You have a knack for plasticarding

The skill is there but again, I find it looks too tall.
Given that with military vehicles it tends to be cramped inside for a smaller target, it would seem logical that it needn't be this tall.

Yeah its annoying that I didnt build it shorter, might consider just chooping it of a bit and have the mortars in a more opened mounting. My model reminds me a bit of GWs hydra they had during an old army day, can find a pic of it now but it had the same issue.

Oddly I think it looks fine. Sure it's tall but a lot of ridiculous support vehicles are. I also think that when it's all done and painted it won't look nearly as odd. I say run with it.
I think you could add a bit to it to bring it more to life, maybe an ammo crane somewhere? Similar to what you'd find on the German Sturmtiger?

A bit late of an update but now its finished fresh out of the paintshop.
DEODATUS (given to god).
Now I will most likely do a mk3 when I get some good inspiration but for now this project is finished!

The sides definitely need something. Stowage, extra doors (escape hatches/ammo hatches/service hatches). Ventilation screens, fuel cans, spare tools, cleaning rods for the mortat tubes, etc. If it's going to be that big, I think it really needs to be broken up with some detailing.
