Yaho,
With the vendetta given sanction by Forgeworld, I'm building around a 4 vendetta DFTS wing with nasty surprises inside.
1750
Cadian Battle Group
[
CCS 60
Melta X 4 40
Astropath 25
]
x3 375
Fury of Cadia 5
4x Vendetta Wing, wing leader takes Heavy Bolters 700
CAD
CCS 60
Master of the fleet 20
Astropath 25
Lascannon 20
Techpriest 40
3x Servitors 30
Troops
[
Camo Plasma Veterans 115

x2 230
Bastion 75
Void Shield 25
Comms Relay 20
Opt to go second unless a really good reason exists to do otherwise. This forces opponent to have a 5+ reserve roll on turn 2 unless they have 5 flyers, and final turn objective rushes to be in your favor.
Place the three CCS in Vendettas, with the techpriest riding in the wing leader.
Gain either
1. Straight up ignores cover on targets in terrain,
2. arbitrarily nominate one unit for preferred enemy and +1 vp on its death.
3. Chance at vector dancer before leaving combat airspace
from wing leader trait
Park the CAD CCS in the bastion for 2+ rerollable reserves, or alternatively deploy it with the comms relay outside in such a way that line of sight is physically impossible even to a deep striker, with the door facing a table corner. Wrap in plasma. Wait.
Turn 2, ~97% chance all four flyers come on in one roll, open up with ignores cover lascannons from Indomitable Attack Pattern on either bonus VP target (i.e. a rhino), primary anti air defence, or other high threat target. If opportunity arises, eliminate main anti-infantry resources.
Turn 3, Fortitude pattern to recover from any damage done and stall for either objectives or a better position, clear a primary drop area for CCS or eliminate any objective campers
Turn 4, switch to hover or grav chute units to begin securing any table objectives
Turn 5, Hover remaining Vendettas on objectives for ObSec where relevant. Zap/Repair anything so-required.
Minor details:
Hover transports under DftS are obsec
All 4 vendettas are independent units
12 twin linked lascannons, with either Trait ignores cover, or Pattern ignores cover with one getting bs4
12 melta guns with ld9 on 2 lowest of 3 dice for ignores cover, monster hunter etc
3x CCS with 5+ save to prevent grav from being relevant
Plasma gun troops with +1 cover, on top of stealth(ruins) if gained from a re rollable warlord trait
4 WC over 4 psykers, all required to take telepathy
Bastions are immune to grav
Second bastion deployment option if Master of the Fleet is ruled to be unable to do his thing within a transport, otherwise no reason not to keep him inside manning a heavy bolter
Techpriest set as warlord unless really high risk of AA for absolutely no chance of the loss of the bastion being important after turn 2.
Astropaths primarily for Psychic Shriek, but invisibility would be a nice bonus
Turn 1 is obviously the weak point, but without buying a second bastion I don't really see how else to guarantee the air strike. Any suggestions?
