I got the Start Collecting Deathrattle, and im wondering which mortarch to build.
Im torn because all 3 look good.
Me nd my friends will be playing the version with points
So im wondering which would be the best. Mannfredd looks good, but is really only killy, doesnt support his army
Arkarn looks like a beastly spellcaster, and most of my friends play armies without wizards.
Nefferata looks off to me, so im not sure bout her.
Any suggestions?

Mannfred has an awesome command ability which works very well at supporting the army, so I think you would like him.

I like Arkhan but feel he's more for if you have other casters to benefit from his command ability.

I like Neferata better of the two from her command ability helping to protect your guys, but Mannfred is definitely the most deadly of them so it's more up to what you want from them.
Death can pile up - to hit a bit with fell bats, Neferata and a mourngul in the right place you could have something like -3/-4 to hit in the shooting phase, though by that point they wouldn't be doing much shooting as they'd be a bit close to stuff that could kill them pretty easy.
Still -2/-3 to hit in melee is possible and useful for tackling things like varanguard I think.

This would be the perfect excuse to learn how to drill/pin and or magnetise models. It would be quite simple as each rider slots onto a saddle piece. You could choose the head and breastplate you like the most and then swap out the riders from game to game - it would force your opponent's to keep their game fresh too and they wouldn't be able to predict which you'd bring.

That's what I plan to do with mine :-)

You won't go wrong with any of them - seriously, they all rock. Pick which one you like the look of best and you will have fun on the battlefield!

magnets will fix your problem

I'd suggest Arkhan as the one you least likely want, he tends to want a more specific army type to go with him.

To me you want Arkhan if your army list requires reliable casting to function well since he is very much "Nagash Lite".
If you don't need the casting benefits Mannfred or Neferata are better.
I don't like that this Neferata model took fashion advice from Nagash so I would build Mannfred instead of her if you are only building one.

The Start Collecting Skeleton Horde box gets you a Mortarch, 10 Skeleton Warriors, and 5 Black Knights for $5 more than just the Mortarch so it might be worth getting more than one box if you also want Skeleton Warriors or Black Knights.

I am, my hope is to eventually get all 3 or so. but I have to get some other stuff first, like the mourngul and some other stuff like banshees and stuff.

Other folks in the thread have said as much already, but seriously just magnetize them. It will save you a lot of cash that you can put towards other stuff!

I'm doing the same as Bottle. Seriously, magnets and pins work great on this model, lots of tutorials on youtube already.

I dont wannt do pins or magnets because each models have a different chestpiece and paintscheme. I asked which mortartc to build. not how to pin it.

That is the reason I don't plan to magnetize mine either.

I might do one about every 3 Months to spread the purchases out since I want the rest of the start collecting box as well.
Since you really have to paint sections before you assemble it they won't get assembled and sent to join the "to paint later" hoard occupying my workroom so they should get me to actually paint something instead putting things together forever.

I highly recommend Manfred, his command ability to re-roll ones to hit and wound cannot be understated. Also the ability to shrug off the first wound a turn.

Manfred with some necropolis knights will cause a large amount of pain.

Magnetize it 100%. Failing that some sticky tac would work too
