What are you guys driving?

I've a metallic blue 2003 Alfa Romeo 156. Brought it nearly a year ago. And...it's got it's problems. A lot of the electrics don't work, the driver side windows don't open, the suspension is off and the fan doesn't work either, so it's always in danger of overheating if stuck in traffic on a hot day.

But God it's pretty, and good to drive too. Fast as hell as well.

I'm not driving it much at the minute though. My poor dad, the timing belt on his van went and the engine ripped itself apart. Now he has to use my car until he gets something sorted. I forgot how much I hated taking the bus.

Where do I start?
My daily driver is a 2005 Chevy Impala LS with sports appearance pacakage. V-6 with 87,000 miles on it. Never given me a hiccup of problems. First new car I ever bought. Thinking of upgrading to a new Impala or GMC Canyon in a couple years.

My "fun" car is a 1987 Monte Carlo SS. I looked for a car with no options. No T-tops, no power seats. Trying to keep weight down. I dropped in a brand new all-aluminum v-8 383 stroker. Flat top free floating aluminum pistons, long rods, internally balanced hydraulic roller cam with 4-7 swap, rattler harmonic balancer, 7 quart-oil pan with crank scraper and windage tray. Edelbrock Performer RPM intake with .5 inch carb spacer and Edelbrock carb. 210 CC AFR heads. High performance oil and water pumps (mechanical) and twin electric fans for a 4-core aluminum radiator. Massive set of headers and duel exhaust. Mated it to a custom 700R4 transmission and a 10 bolt 8.5 inch posi rear with 3:42 gears. 285/60R15 tires in back, 235/60R15 in front. 6-pistol disk brakes in all 4 corners. Removed air conditioning and power steering to conserve weight. On the outside I have an aluminum 1.5 inch cowl hood. Inside I have all black leather seats (used front seats from a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire and reupholstered). The whole thing is painted jet black except for the aluminum rims.

Bolded your first problem

Anyhow.... My vehicle is a 2011 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport. Just bought it about a month ago (getting out of a newer Silverado... long story). I haven't really pulled much apart, but looking at other Tacos in my area, it looks like I may have a leveling kit (if not about a 1-2" lift), and the stock radiator fan has been replaced by an electronically fired on, as well as perhaps maybe an engine block heater (like I'd ever really need it here)

My plans right now: getting a "custom" shifter, new wheels/tires, new grille, new headlights, possibly new front/rear bumper. Definitely gonna do a K&N intake kit, and some sort of exhaust kit, though I'm not sure if I'll go with Magnaflow, Flowmaster or any number of other companies.

Suzuki Swift+ (I want to say 2003, but am to lazy to check). I am pleased to announce that the worst thing to happen to it this year was that a mouse everywhere.

Best thing about it is that I do not need to be good at parking, seeing as how it is a fraction of the size of the trucks that most parking stalls are designed for. Of course, this hints at some downsides when actually driving...

I've got a 2006 Mazda 6, bought it new, and neglected it almost from day 1. Hardly ever service it, had it parked on the street for a few years while I was doing country work. It's had two flat batteries and they've been the only problems the whole time I've had it.

My wife is hassling me to get a new car, but I cannot bring myself to spend a pile of cash on a new car when my current one is running perfectly. The fact I'll get almost no trade in because my car looks so rough on the inside might also be a factor

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I currently drive a Dodge Dakota 4x4. I used to need it for work (carpenter) but since I've switched to office work I don't need it. The wife and I are going to consolidate our two vehicles into one ( she has a ford focus).
We are looking at a smaller SUV kind of ride, like an Escape or a Santa Fe. Anyone got any advice?

2014 Toyota Tundra Cre Cab, SR5, 5.7l V8, 2wd, Metallic Blue
I love this truck. Had been drooling over the new Tundras since they were re-introduced as true full size trucks. And waited to get one with the exact trim package we wanted in blue. My wife didn't understand why I was fixated on having the blue paint but after we got it everyone complements the paint color.

2007 Wrangler Sahara, black, hard top, 6 speed manual, 4x4. First of all I can't believe there is such a thing as a 2wd Wrangler. My Jeep is nearly a decade old but in good shape. Everything is still stock. It has had some minor issues (vacuum leak somewhere right now) but is dependable. I personally can't stand the V6 and wish I had the old straight 6 4.0L. The engine had no low end power at all.

My baby(money pit) is a 1987 Chevy Silverado short bed. It hasn't run in almost 10 years. I pulled the 350 with TBI out and put in a Cadillac 500ci (8.2L) V8 with a 4L80E on a stand-alone controller. It is in a shop now getting some of the accessories, fuel and cooling sorted. Once it can run with a hot wire to the distributor I will have it pulled out of the shop and will start re-wiring the whole truck. It has 5" spring lift, 1 ton axles (locker in the rear) and a twin-sticked transfer case all resting on 37" tires.

It has wheels. And a steer. And a saddle. It is black with green flames on it. I like those colours. That is about all there is to say about it.
My dad has a Mercedes. He is very proud of it. We also have an old Lada Niva. I like that one better, because it is reliable and can go pretty much everywhere. But mostly because my dad actually lets me drive it every now and then. Offroading is great. Especially when there is a lot of mud.

This Is Where the Fish Lives

2013 Ford Mustang GT

Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust, JLT intake, Bama race tune, SR Performance lowering springs (about an 1-1/2"), J&M adjustable panhard bar, SR Performance short throw shifter, 19"x8.5/10" staggered Bullitt wheels with Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires, and a bunch of cosmetic stuff (grille, window louvers, painted coil covers, some other stuff).

My first car was a red 1995 Saturn SC1. I had the windows blacked out and I put a kickass stereo system in it. It lasted until I wrecked it going to work one day (no one was hurt) and I sold it for $500 to some guy that worked for my girlfriend's dad. After that, I had a silver 2001 Ford Ranger that I absolutely loved. It was a stick shift four-banger that got awesome gas mileage (back when gas was like a dollar a gallon) and it could fit all of my band's amps and some of the drums. I eventually traded it in for a 2003 Chevy Silverado with an extended cab because I needed something that could tow a U-Haul from Las Vegas to Virginia. I had that truck for almost 10 years and it served me well with very problems until it died on me. I could have spent the money to fix it but I wanted a new car so I bought my Mustang.

1999 Subaru Legacy. The bearings on one of the axles needs to be replaced, the whole car shudders when it makes a sharp turn. It's sunroof had to be caulked shut because of leakage. The driver's door and right wing mirror are both replacements, that don't quite match. It's covered in dents and scratches from it's previous owner who kept driving it into things absent-mindedly (my grandmother, who I got it from dirt-cheap) I don't lock it because nobody is going to steal this POS, and some of the locks are a bit broken. The cassette player still works, so that's something (I have a lot of my music on cassettes).

Personally, I'd avoid anything with the Ford badge.... As for what I'd actually suggest looking at, I like Subarus... Foresters are pretty nice, though the Outback is slightly larger. I'd also highly recommend the Toyota 4Runner, or if that's bit, maybe the Rav4 (they still make that one right?)

My current, primary means of transportation: 2007 Chevy Trailblazer LT and 2002 BMW X5. Both have over 200,000 miles each. But they still run really well (I believe in staying on top of maintenance and repairs). Older pics of both, but not much difference in paint and body wear.

I've never owned a Honda, but every one that I've ridden in feels like it was overpriced. That said, they are hella reliable, based on the "eye test" (as in, what I see driving around me)

And I personally wouldn't buy Mazda, but that's because I hate Ford, which is kinda basically what they are

I have a 2012 Honda fit. Fantastic little car. More roomy than you might think, too. I'm like 6' 1" and the drivers seat has plenty of room, and all the seats fold flat for moving stuff or for transporting dogs.

Never had a single problem with it, and it's made it home safe through some rather hairy Denver snowstorms. It probably wouldn't cut it for crossing the mountain passes in bad weather, but I don't have to do that very often.
