So this project just came together out of me trying to pad out my AOS beast men army with a couple of chaos spawns and has just escalated into being a complete chaos spawn based daemon army.

Last one im still working on the paint job but its getting there.

Then this is my greater daemon counts as karios fate weaver, great guy to have to create the spawns from enemy casualty's

my Herald style champion for my karios counts as, using the rules for vilitch the curseling

unit of Tzeentch blessed trolls and minotaurs, using the rules for stone trolls to represent magic resistance and additional magic protection

Then just some horrors

Always looking to add spawn as and when im feeling it, would like to add a gigantic spawn as well an possible somemore daemons

Thanks for looking

Excellent work, I really like Spawn so any custom modelling is a winner for me.

The red one and the gore covered one are my fave. Top work

thanks, cant decide if i want to do the Minotaur/beastmen style one is a similar scheme to the red one or go for something different (its brown at the moment so basically based for red if i wanted)

OK,
its Army shot time

So, i feel pretty good about how this army is coming together at the moment.

painted, i've got:
10 table top ready chaos spawn
karios fate weaver (counts as)
viltch the curling (counts as)
3 stone troll (counts as)
and 10 horrors

+ beast men if i want which is
20 gors
kharazak one eye (counts as)
10 chaos hounds
and a bray shamen

so i think its all going quite well. I think what i need to start thinking about at some point is monsters, i feel like its a bit monster lacking at the moment. Maybe a gigantic chaos spawn or two or a ghorhorn, cygor maybe? and then finishing the next lot of 10 Gors to bring the unit up to 30. but that's all in the pipe line, any comments or suggestions on this front feel free to leave below.

ANYWAY, some close ups of the new "finished" things (some of which are shiny) and some WIPs

Spoiler:
so with this guy i really worked on trying to get it so the guy that is being sucked in looks like he hasn't been fully assimilated yet into the composite being of the rest of the spawn, so i tried my hand at painting pupils into his eyes and having that contrast against the green of all the other fully assimilated parts

Not sure how i feel about this guy at the moment, part of me is thinking do a repaint and have the skin blue to contrast against the orange of the claw and horns. But we'll see.

Bray Shamen
Again im not sure whether this one is finished or not. i think some of the detail of the beastmen symbols on his cape got lost so maybe i will go back and redo some of those in a light magicy rune style. but im unsure

SPOILER FOR 40K PEOPLE
Spoiler:

so Kill team seems like a pretty interesting game to get into at the moment. I have a pretty sizeable force of Tyranids (3000-4000 points) but i got left behind somewhere with 5th edition rules for playing 40k. so i have dusted off (literally) some nids and am hoping to get playing some kill-team games to get me back into the swing of 40k.

That's everything for now, thanks for viewing and i should be having a battle against a nurgle daemons force so expect some pics of that at some point as well.
Thanks for looking

So i've tried this whole project blog thing a bunch of times now, and i do really like it but I am the hobby butterfly. i am the worst at going from one project to the next on a whim and leaving whatever i was working on half finished on the side for a year or something before i come back to it and get all re- excited by an idea or something. So basically rather then keeping to try and make a separate project blog for all my different projects im just going to put everything on here from the off and do it like that. So, if you are one of the rare Daka users that reads the text people put in there posts instead of skipping straight to the pictures (i tip my hat to you, you are a rare breed indeed), consider this a forewarning that this is going to be a collection of unrelated random projects, that are as likely to be completed as they are unlikely.

so for warnings over, TO THE PLASTIC PICTURES!!!

SO, This is what im am currently working on,

originally for my own orks, i have since decided im going to sell this one. pretty happy with how its going at the moment, but still plenty to do on it.

still loads to do with this. its been sitting on my desk as a torso for maybe a year and a half now and i think its just time to get him finished.

As well as these i have these i finished recentlyish that im selling for some hobby funds (eBay links attached)

Kinda envisioned this as an ork mek junka from the apocalypse codex. A sort of mek made warbuggy for himself, could be used as shock attack gun or boom gun
eBay link in spoiler

"WAAAAAARGH!!!"
Really like this model, really enjoyed making it. Again intended for a sub ork army of mine but alas the hobby butterfly strikes again and he remains not quite finished
Ebay Link in Spoiler if your interested

and also last but not least

SQUIGGOTH!

Again just another project that for me didn't come to fruition. Was going to have a heard of these bad boys for Apoc games but Alas, the butterfly (otherwise known as AGE OF SIGMAR!!!... and every other ork project i have on the back burner)
eBay link in spoiler

Anyway, that's it for today. If you like where this is going please subscribe and comment, feedback is always appreciated, and depending on how this eBay stuff goes i may be making more things to sell in the future, so yeah

Thanks for reading

YO,

Mid weekly update, Im making the Ork Equivalent to a vindicator, counts as kill bursta from forge world. and of course its bigger in every way, hence using a looted land raider as the base.
Going to have the Dozer blade magnetised and maybe have the spotter ork swapable with a big shooter gunner. Just got the riveting left to do before base coating.

YO,

So i bolted and based the Kill Bursta, think it looks a lot better like this, more like a succinct model, like it was always meant to be a looted tank. anyway, just waiting on some magnets arriving for me to magnetise the dozer blade/ Ram and then it will be completely done.

ONTO THE PICS!!

So yeah, i think its turned out pretty well all in all, think the spotter and the gun its self are my favourite parts. Nice to have it completed.

ORKS ORKS ORKS ORKS, ORKS ORKS ORKS ORKS
(In joke, if you ever played dawn of war as the ork faction i hope you read that in that style)

AAANYWAY
so the dreads done, and onto the Ebays,
you have one week to pay up or the dread gets it!!
painted in my deathskullz colour scheme that is...

PICZ

Aaannd then some shots for dramatic effect...

eBay link, and description, that i am actually kinda smug about
"40K Ork DeffDread with 2 Big Shoota's and 2 Close Combat weapons.

Scratch built, one of a kind item with many unique features like:
Frag mine abs, Genorator power, Smoke Lunching shoulder blades, Face blades, blade blades and added stompy Action action action.

The perfect present to give to yourself, or a friend ( but probably your self, lets be honest here).
Give your gaming circle a right kickin this Christmas and remember the spirit of the holidays, Hoarding useless material possessions year after year until death, now with this unique item."

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/262746195721?

So i was taking the cinematic pictures of some Minotaurs meeting there end when it occurred to me that they had never made it onto dakadaka. So onto the MINOTAURS!!

(all of them still need the shoulder pads doing with the squad number and insignia, but i still like them (i may never get round to doing it, but we'll see)

MINOTAURS!!

So this guy basically inspired this whole space marine diversion from my Nova marines force. With my nova marines i had a story line where they were basically always frighting orks and tyranids (my main 40k armys..) and that lots of space marine legions were being wiped out or lost in those conflicts. The Nova marines were encountering survivors from those wars and forming them into squads kinda like deathwatch. (the real reason being so i could make up/try out a bunch of different marine paint schemes) And this terminator was one of those survivors,
But i liked the scheme so much the rest of the force basically expanded from him. Maybe being something like a rescue/collection force send to collect him from the Nova Marines, of course everything doesn't go smoothly and they get sucked into the ongoing tyranid and ork conflicts.

ENOUGH STORY TIME, ONTO PIIICS!!!!

so its a small force, with room for violent expansion

So that's it for now, expect more dreads in the near future with a chance of finished squiggoths.

So last week i hinted at the next big project im going to be doing, and by this week im almost done.

introducing

THE MEGA BANBLADE

haven't decided whether to try and keep it imperial or go full looted battle fortress (3 super cannons, 6 big shooters, grot riggers etc etc)
either way, its big and i like where its going.

thats all for today, might have some squiggoth pics mid week, but for now

ANOTHER MID WEEK MADNESS UPDATE!!!

What the hell is this, some sort of frequent progress on things :O

craaazy...

SUPER HEAVY CAPLOCK FUN TIMES AHEAD!

So im really growing to love this super heavy. i was originally going to sell it on, but the more i work on it and add in little details, the more i want to keep it myself. For example, i spent probably an hour getting the tank commander set up how i wanted, just through experimenting with different bit combinations. its all of those little thoughts im putting into this, i think will be lost if i just pass it onto someone else.

onto pics

Some of my favorite bits

I like the idea that this super formidable battle fortress would have a very orky weakness, in having a misplaced explosives left on the front of it. either blowing up and destroying the tank, or blowing up in an enemys face. fun thoughts

Getting fiddly.. with warhammer..

adding more onto the back section of the Battle fortress, little gubbins and engine bits. im liking the idea of having a sort of gangway that goes around the back and sides, not fully protected, but somewhere to store some boys to represent the transport capacity.

Pics

and some boy shots for scale

just chipping away at it atm. its kinda just a lot of the boring work left now, like paneling and bolting, structural stuff. but still hammering on, really looking forward to having it finished and seeing it next to everything else in the army
anyway

So i lied there is no more Daka then usual, but the usual is quite a lot so hey it
onto the ploggin

so I needed a baneblade break,
i recently got out my orks to look at some size comparisons between my other tanks and the battlefortress and ended up finding my old Nobz and Bigmeks. Some great models and i really enjoyed working on them at the time. kinda funny seeing them after about a year in the case. anyway pics and more words below.

So the main guy i was working on today was this guy. I had an idea when i was building the army that my Mega mek warboss, was a sneaky git, and similar the grotsniks bomb in the brain scenanigans, he would perform a similar service to the Nobz under his command. Giving them bionics and upgrades with disguised devices to ensure there loyalty. These loyal Nobz were then sent to local warzones to fight against different enemys (tyranids, space marines, eldar, chaos, other orks) to become experts in fighting them. They would then come back after fighting in these conflicts and form a sort off death star unit to protect the MegaMek, all having perfected skills to fight off any challege to the mega mek.

So essentially what this boils down to in model sense, is that ive modeled a specialist hunter for each of the local alien species (including orks)

so from left to right:
chaos veteran , eldar veteran , orks veteran , tyranids veteran , spacemarines veteran
I like the idea with these guys that in constantly killing these different species they would take on different traits and tactics that reflect there opponents weaknesses and strengths. I.e the chaos guy has a flamer to purge chaos, but also has runes carved into his Armour, which he has observed makes "da chaos boyz stronger, nd harder to kill", i like the idea that this orky way of finding weaknesses and strengths could lead to unexpected consequences too, like corruption to chaos in this case, or tyranid infection in another.

FOCUS,
so back to the Nob i was working on today.

WIPS AHOY,
SPACEMARINE/ IMPERIUM VETERAN

So, the bits i've tried to focus on with this model are Power weapons, ornate Armour, storm bolters, capes and scrolls.
I figure with power weapons, an ork seeing how easily the marine boyz choppers slice through da orkz, would be both disconcerting and mesmerizing. To have a chopper that can cut through the thickest armour with ease would be a great chopper indeed. So ive tried to get across that power weapon feel, using the orks colour of magic and energy, green, as the base.
Then with the armour i wanted it to seem looted and scavenged from many space marine chapters, a hodge podge collection of shoulder pad, helmets and backpack. Used not because of there effectiveness to an Ork boy, but because of how effective they seem to make marines.
Then the storm shooter. Of all of the marine boyz, Termi's are the biggest and toughest, and what is the shooter the termies use? the storm shoota. So what should the toughest Ork marine killa use, a mega storm shoota. I like the idea that he would go to a Mek with a scavenged storm bolter and say "like dis, but Orky".
and then finally the cape and scroll. Goes without saying that the best dressed marine boys are usually the most killy, most respected and most feared. So logically, it would seem that being well dressed (i.e Cape) confers some sort of bonus to killyness in the same way blue makes your lucky, red makes you faster and yellow "MAKES YOU A SCUMY THEETHIN GROT, WITH MORE TEETH THEN MUSCLE!"...
so thats him.

Got a quick shot of the rest of my Ork Characters as well before the end, just because its nice to have them out every once in a while.

quite a text heavy one today, might be a new thing, might not.
tell me what you think in the reply's.

As always
Thanks for looking

So had a cool game yesterday, Ended up playing as my friends necrons against his plague marines. small game, not keeping track of the points but some pictures below. Was a cool little game, He had some Necrons lying around as well so i said i would'nt mind putting them together for him. Nice change of pace, i don't think its making me want to collect a necron army, but its nice to mix it up every now and again.

PICS

and then this is what ive put together so far to reinforce the rest of the force. Its really just 2 of the classic starter necron sets put together, but i think it will be quite cool as a guest army of his.

So as well as that originally i thought we were going to play AOS so i Added to my Warpfire Dragon a bit. Still not quite done, but a little closer

So I was thinking with the base, the fluff for the warpfire dragon is that it starts as a normal dragon that starts consuming warpstone to become more powerful and then eventually it becomes like an addiction. Eventually leading to it becoming so saturated with warpstone its body emiting warp radiating effects damaging the ground and guys around it. So with the base i wanted it to kinda seem irradiated or damaged whereever it had touched or been.
Think it looks ok, might work into it a bit more, but im happy with it for now.

Thanks for looking

Its been a model i have always wanted since i first started my Tyranids in 2005 (crazy to think ive been doing this for almost 12 years now) but was always just out of reach price wise (even then when it was like £70 or something).
Very very happy to have it, even though its made me want the barbed hierodule as well!

So ive changed the position a bit, didn't like the whole tail directly in the air thing it had going on so i have just tilted it back a little and greenstuffed in into the base. Did a tiny bit of work filling gaps and adding some muscle fibres over arm connections and stuff like that. But the whole thing got made and green stuffed in like half a day.

As you can see it means that its not directly looking at infantry level models, but i think when it comes to fighting imperial knights, daemon princes, tanks etc it will be a lot better. I saw some pics of the standard pose facing off against knights and it just looks a bit small in comparison.

But anyway,

I also realised i never put my finished tyranofex on here. Decided to go with a slightly different scheme for this one changing the carapace to a purple colour. The reason being i recently picked up about another 1500 points of nids from a friend but they were in a different shade of purple and green as the scheme. Rather then re base coat all of them or strip them, im just using that as a base for my own green and adding a darker purple over the top. I think its turning out quite well, and its giving me a splinter fleet to play alongside my main army, which is both really cool and quite motivating paint wise, as it means i can choose between either scheme when painting my Nids

PICS

So there that,
And then the Necron lord i am painting up for a friend of mines guest army is coming along nicely, Ive been having some trouble with my brown wash at the moment, so i think i will revisit those bits on the gold. But other wise I like how its going.

So i tried to have it be pretty close to the GW paint scheme adding a couple of my own touches here and there, like with the gauss stone cape and the gold and black shoulder pads and helm. The scheme for the army is essentially black and silver, so i was aiming to get this guy to stand out a bit as the clear leader or the lesser Necrons, Being the overlord he is surposed to have retained the most of his soul and personality from his past iterations, but still fit in as with them. When i get the model back to the rest of the force i will take some pics of how he fits in with them to put up.

And then Last but not Least

MINOTAURS

The more i paint and read about these guys the more i like them. I picked the chapter originally just because i had been painting stormcast eternals and had the colours lying around, but the more i read into them the more i am thinking of them as one of my favorite forces. When this squad is complete i will have a 730 point legal army that i can start playing a 40k campaign with (and intend too, possible adding units as i go (undecided as to what yet, but i think a tank would be cool, something good at killing of marines... Traitor marines of course

As i said with the Necron Overlord, i have been having some real trouble with my brown wash at the moment. In the past it has dried so there is no shine, kinda just dulling down all of the colouts that are on the model and shading it etc, but recently it has started to dry quite waxy and shiney over the top. Meaning that 5 of my tac marines are painted quite grim dark and broody and the over 5 are shiney as

Still havent worked out what the problem is or how to fix it (suggestions welcome) but when and if that clears up, i will be able to finish these 5 and have a full 750 point army to mess around with

Anyway, Thats all for now,
Thanks for looking and i wish everyone a happy holiday and a good new year

So, its been a while.

Decided to experiment with some Greek symbols on the tank. I like how its looking so far just got the back door and the other side to finish. also im considering going back and doing some of the patterns on some of the tactical marines.

Also

I also picked up the special Minotaur characters ASTERION MOLOC AND IVANUS ENKOMI!! wooo
And of course made and painted him in an excited plastic opening fury.

and heres them with a comparison shot to a normal marine.

also i picked up another 6 2nd edition terminators, so now ive got a full squad. 6 painted with 2 heavy flamers

Hierodule update

done the basic skin just got the carapace left. Decided im going to go classic green

And then one last thing, was doing some comparisons between how i felt about the landraider and the vindicator and took some shots just to put up.

Thats all for now

Thanks for looking

Medium to large update

So my laptop died a while ago hence my lack of posts, but i thought i would give a quick round up of whats happened since then whilst i can still leech of a laptop im borrowing at the moment.

SO

Hierodule first

Decided to go with green for the carapace in the end, done in the same style as my swarmlor most recently. Think im going to kinda reserve that style for future big beastys and significant units (swarmlords, apocalypse units etc)

Pretty happy with it, just got to do washes and finish the base and claws. Not sure what to do with the claws actually. With my swarmlord i went with red, but mainly to represent boneswords. I tihink it looks good but i dont know how that would fit in with the hierodule having claws made out of the same stuff. On the one hand i assume that a hierodules scything talons would be made out of harder stuff then normal so can justify it like that, but on the other i like that the swarmlord is the only guy i have with the red claws. Still mulling it over but either way i was going to leave that till last.

Next

NECRONS

So im really dragging through making these guys. Each one is taking me around 10 mins and i have to say it is one of the worst/least interesting kits i have ever put together. Still it is quite rewarding to see them all together at the end like this, and i only have 4 more to go until its a full unit of 20
Still, it is a slow and seemingly unending process putting them together (which is actually quite Necron in its own right)

So those are just recap images for the most part. Managed to dull down the Over Lords Shine problem from before and added somemore gold to break up the large areas of silver on him. Overall im quite happy with him, definatly tabletop standard, but tbh since this is kinda going to be a guest army for a friend, i think thats fine.

Sooo close to finishing with this Little Necron project, i literally have 4 Warriors to make and then the making part is done. Whether i paint and base them is yet to be seen.
All the complaining about warriors asside i have really enjoyed making them. It really got me into reading the imperial armour book on them which in turn introduced me to lots of cooll new minotaurs stuff.
Got me thinking about future campaigns as well as cool scenarios and missions from the book.

My favorite and one i am definitely thinking about making into a small campaign being "the Walking Dead"

The story is that as the necrons are taking over this systerm they are reannimating the corpes of previously defeated foes to use as cannon fodder in the latter engadgements. These CRONBIES include a space marine chapter, civilians and many gaurdsmen. A very interesting idea indeed. There are out lines of rules for it as well basically giving the marines a lower I of 2 and slow and purposeful, feel no pain 6+,and fearless i think. Whilst also getting rid of any none wargear related rules.
Seems like a really fun concept, having a campaign where the losses of the enemy are added to the cron force as it goes along. eventually forming an army of CRONBIES

AGE OF SIGMAR: BEASTMEN

So i have been really trying to break the back of a lot of different projects recently and just get some armys "compleated" (until later adding more models of course )
One of the main model chores i have been putting off for ages was doing the last 10 gors for my 30 strong gor heard. Needless to say, i finally buckled down and did it. all based and painted i now dont have to paint a gor ever again...

Just a repaint of this 20 strong unit of beastigors...
Dont get me wrong im not complaining, but it is a very long process. very fiddly, rewarding but fiddly by my tastes. But again once its done that army is basically finished. Which is nice.

Its not that bad of a repaint, just changing the armour and cloaks really. Maybe the skin but idm having mixed skin tones on the unit. So we will see.

BACK TO 40K

A battle report from a while ago i forgot/could get to a computer to post. So me and a Nurgle affiliated friend of mine have been playing a small simple escalation campaign over the past month and a bit. going from 400 points kill team game to 800 points standard to 1500.
and next to 2500 or 3000 depending on what he has available (havent done the points yet) Should be alot of fun and a climatic end to what we havve done so far. That aside for a sec though, these are some picture from the last game, quite blury i know, but its quite low lighting and my hand is by no means steady.

Glorious last stands
and
undying monstrosity's

was a good game but the pictures are terible. will have to try and up my game for capturing the last game as its the final one of this series.

MINOTAURS

So for this game i managed to speed paint the remaining 4 terminators for my 2nd ed squad, still need to finish basing, but they can be played with at least.

and then all together,

got some base colours on the chaplin done as well

And then the most recent update to my minotaurs
STERNGUARD

So this is my first ever unit of sternguard and i have to say it was awesome to build them. great kit, great bits left over, lots of options. was really enjoyable.

Decided to go with the standard Boltguns on all of them for now, just because i wasnt sure about which combi weapons to add or not. From the games i have played recently, if someone have plasma they pretty regually kill themselves, and at 22 point or something a model thats not something im interested in. But when facing termis that Ap is useful so idk. Im considering melta as well probally more seriously then plasma, but the range is just so meak. would be good for when enemy termis are closing the distance i guess but idk. I have another 5 to build so im going to play test these against Nurgle and Crons, see how they do and then decide.

Close ups of my favorites

Then because the sterngaurd kit is so great i had enough spares to make this guy

Vigilator Sergent Hamath Kraatos

very cool model in the books and greeeeat rules. Is a 60 point addition to a devestator squad replacing the sargent and carrying a heavy bolter, has prefered enemy infantary and jet bikes (or something, just generalising) and a special type of sniper syle havy bolter shot he can shoot instead of the normal profile.

This is his unit for now, but i am hoping to get a unit of 4 heavy bolter guys to go with him for some serious firepower (especially against a growing Necron Threat)

And thats everything for now. I will say i have something big, imperial and shooty in the works but will wait to post another time.
Untill then
Thanks for looking

Thanks man

Cheeky phone update from the wip bench. So I forgot that I had ordered minotaur shoulder pads for my sternguard and had to do the swap this morning. Glad I got them and I think they will look great when painted up.

Also, I've had that battle Of macrag crashed flyer lying around for ages and on a whip painted it this morning. Pics below thanks for looking.

Completed lava board! (section...)

It's a 2x2 board piece with the plan of doing one more lava 2x2 section. Then possibly doing a jungle one and putting them together to represent armeggedon wars or what ever.
