Im trying to gather ideas on how to make a ruleset for npc Necrons to play against with a friend via Co op. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas or links to rulesets used for various "AI" incarnations.
The idea is to use 2x Kill teams using the HoR rules to infiltrate a necron compound and do stuff then extract. I want to have the crons as AI and a friend and I would pilot a kill team each.
Any ideas on how the robots should play dakka?

Just have a basic set of commands that they'd use:
Is an enemy within line of sight? NO-stay still. Yes-move towards/shoot it.
Are you in danger of being overwhelmed? NO-stand your ground. Yes-Find cover/call for help.
Etc.

I figured I could do something like that but was interested to see what people thought for how they would patrol. How would they act once they are in range and in line of sight of an enemy such as an alerted state. I want to incorporate a slight stealth approach while the kill teams enter the base. And once stuff hits the fan have the crons act differently.

There have been a lot of behavior charts for Tyranids as co-op enemies over the years, I'll see if I can find some In the meantime I'd also suggest seeing if you can find a copy of the original 4th Edition Kill Team; that was designed as an asymmetrical game where one player ran the kill-team and the other ran a bunch of 'brute squads'. In old Kill Team there were stealth rules to govern how active the Brutes were depending on how much shooting you'd done and how close to them you got.
Does anyone know what forum rules on posting out-of-print copyrighted material are?

See if you can get a copy of the rules for the boxed set game of the execution force, as it has the same basic premise and a reasonably detailed set of rules for how the cultists / CSM patrol, react to spotting hostiles and searching for hostiles that have disappeared. Since a bunch of people bought it for the assassin models, eBay should net you a copy fairly easily.
Having played half a dozen games with mates, I can confidently say that it was extremely fun and give it a hearty recommendation.

Look up the raid scenario for Necromunda.
It had a fairly nice way of Ai patrolling, spotting distance and a system for how much noise you make as you pick off guards without setting off the alarm.
It could get quite tense.

Play original kill team, from way back in 3rd or 4th edition. Had a ton of rules for mob squads and enemy boss units. Also turns the entire game into the expendables.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

Yep, I'd stick to Tyranids or Necrons as that's the easiest for you to create a simple AI conversion for them. As stated there must be plenty available online, but it's quite simple.
Add in a delayed deployment, some random spawn zones...maybe a small deck of event cards, etc. Very easy to create a fun simple scenario. In high school my buddy's father had a large Tyranids force and half of our 40K games must have been everyone bringing all we had (teenages = not much) and facing an endless horde of Tyranid beasties.

I have all the BRB's from 2nd edition and up.
The only problem is that stuff has copyright scanning may be frowned upon.
I could dig in there and at least see if a chart or two can be reproduced.
I have the original Necromunda as well, I do not remember the AI in that... I need to look that up.
Funny, when Necrons were mentioned I wanted to look at the Zombicide cards / rules.

If I recall correctly, the Gothic game's Necron Tombships had a similar 'AI routine' or flow chart that was supposed to be used that I heard was unbeatable. You may want to check it out to see what it says.
