I cant help but feel exhausted at this point over Vulkan just being killed off or "vanishing" again and again. Seriously, we get that he's a perpetuate (or is he anymore?) but at some point if you're gonna write about him give some legit closure for gods sake. It seems every book he's in ends with some ridiculous cliff hanger which is mostly, "is he dead?" "is he crazy?" "where'd he go?" "nope he's dead". Hell in one of the books they spend a good chunk looking for his dead corpse that somehow "vanished".

After The Beast Must die, I'm thoroughly unimpressed with his story. All the epic moments and awesome insights into his character are kind of glossed over to me when you can pretty much expect at the end of every book he will either end up dead or missing (agian)."Vulkan Lives!" has become the "Hail Hydra!" of 40k at this point.

And there hasn't been a single book detailing the hunt for the relics he left behind. I would love to read about Vulkan He'stan uncovering the missing relics just to know what they are and what happens when they are all collected.

Here's an idea, (and I know its crazy to suggest the Salamanders be central characters) but wouldn't a Curse of the Wulfen/ Kauyon/ Shield of Baal campaign book involving the hunt for the missing relics and the possible return of a Primarch to go along with all this end times talk be awesome?

Tell me what you guys think though. Are you getting tired of the wishy washy story thats been given to Vulkan?

Vulkan has been seriously brutalised by BL. I consider "Vulkan Lives!" to be the low point of the whole Horus Heresy series, with him being killed by a fork.

A fork.

Then again I've just finished "The Beast Must Die" and really liked his portrayal there. A man who dosen't want to live anymore, because he saw all his friends, his father and his brothers dying or leaving. The Imperium that he sacrificed so much for is a completely different place, and alien to him, and now he just wants peace. Perhaps that's why he didn't met with any of the Salamanders in this book, so he would not have to remember the better, more optimistic times.

Is Vulkan Lives that bad? I mean, as a book/story, I can atleast pretend its an adamantine fork.

I really liked the Tome of Fire books. But it would be nice for the Salamanders to have a solid win now and again.

Personally I almost liked Vulkan Lives, but that's because I like curze and I was impressed with the level of creativity he had. I can entirely understand why Salamander fans would be pissed that their primarch's main book is all about him dying.

If you allow yourself to be killed and ingested, your soul is forfeited.

This is 40k. Nobody ever gets closure (except for Horus, he's dead).

Eldrad had closure and then they retconned it.

Maybe Vulkan really doesn't like awkward conversations so he just keeps faking his death to get out of situations.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Aun'va got closure.

He must be one of the only major characters to have died in the setting for some time, being the faction leader of one of the playable factions and all. I wish Eldrad was dead though, Ghazghkull too.

Oh yeah, that part of Necron's fluff is just baaad. I just wish that they'd give the poor guy some sort of closure.
