Hi all, in more recent games alot of local players have been running 2 units of siege terminators per game.
While its seems trivial, 20 Krak missiles a turn tears through most things with ease.
More so when a unit of iron havocs is supporting them.

My salamanders run the original rite of theirs which somewhat restricts any form of getting to them quickly.
No deepstriking units is the big killer.

I need to find a way of dealing with them as quickly as possible as they are causing me a massive headache.

In smaller games I tend to run a heavy squad of volkite and they chip away at them rarely well, but usually too late.
I'm having to use a Spartan in larger games to draw their fire while trying to get up the board in rhinos, which as you can imagine, is not ideal.

Short of sending vulkan and his firedrakes at them I'm struggling to find a way to remove them.
Generally they are sat in a bunker to top it off aswell.
So whatever assaults them needs to either break that down or have it done for them first.

Anyone have some ideas please?
Running the basic salamander rite and have the models for most units, with magnetised options, so I'm open to anything really.

Thanks in advance.

Krak missiles are armour penetration 3, you could build a terminator army, maybe. And maybe you could take one or more Spartan LR with flare shield, the weapons have -1 to S to damage the Spartan and the S8 of the missiles make them useless.

Other options are assault with infiltrators or change the rite, as you wish.

Quad mortars with phosphex cannisters. They are stupid broken but they'll take care of your problem.

Sallies can't use phosphex at all.

I might think double down on the flare-shield spartan goodness, or just spam av14. maybe a couple land raiders with termies rolling with vulkan and his firedrake bros. Kinda one-trick-pony though.

Change of Rite might be a good thought here.

Ahh yes. I forget that the 13th Legion isn't as concerned with collateral damage as the Salamanders are.

I would second Mechanicum allies then. MCs are pretty tough and Mechanicum can bring lots of them.

The mechanicum are a pretty solid one as that's my main army, so having access to those units would be perfect.

I also completely forgot about flare shields!
May be tempted to pack 2 spartans and send them in to clear the way.

Thank you very much guys.
Got a game against iron hands tomorrow but playing against iron warriors Saturday, so I'll try out the spartans first I think.

You would have to keep the Thanatar out of sight, because S8 AP3 shots would cause an issue in large amounts.

Darkfire Cannons and Photon Thrusters would work, but are only available on expensive platforms like Myrmadons or have a big tax like the Thallax.

Your best bet would be a Myrmadax Magos with Photon thruster, gauntlet, and jetpack. Put him in a unit with 6 Thallax and 2 photon thrusters, and he grants hatred to them. This unit can jump out and score some hits on the Tyrants with no issue.

Milita are another option - heavy ordnance batteries can make a right mess (no-one but no-one can take a medusa round and not notice), and a mortar squad can rack up the saving throws with lots of S4 templates (and be scoring at the same time)

If you want to stay in the Legion, use a Malcador squadron. Flare shielded fronts make them immune to Krak missiles, Demolisher cannons will tear the Terminator squads in half, and the battle cannons can tear up the iron havocs.
