have we had a thread on this?
Apparently All Quiet on the Martian Front (steam/diesel punk tanks vs HG Wells Martians) is back under new owners.

I see they're back in shops like the War Store and Miniature Market too.

Good news! I liked the look of this but wasn't interested in a new game at the time. I thought the setting was very creative, having a second martian invasion in the USA with the british as veterans of the first invasion. Was sorry to see it disappear.

I've been seeing the items on Miniature Market for some time now, but everything was out of stock as they were rebuilding the (new) company. Now, it's all in stock and - Yay - I'm out of funds at the moment. :(

They need to dramatically re-write that rule-book before I would suggest anyone bother.
The rules were spread throughout a terribly edited book, with a million changes often buried by the creators on a forum which no longer exists. With a reprinted book, it might be worth considering.

Hopefully they'll eventually be able to do something about that, because the models I think have a lot to recommend them and I'm happy they didn't go out of print with the loss of the original studio.

A re-write is likely coming, however many of the additional rules were saved by members of the community and should be relatively easy to track down. There are forums on the new company's website and a small but vocal community on here where rules supplements could be obtained.
For anyone on the fence:
If you like the theme of the game, and the models, I'd recommend giving the game a try. The rules aren't bad (dare I say, they are actually fun), Alien Dungeon had a severe case of "New Shiny Syndrome" and released new units/rules at a breakneck pace. Probably one of the reasons why they went under.
That aside, I was impressed by how the core rules captured the "feel" of each faction. For the US/Human forces you really feel like your back is against the wall trying to bring down the numerically smaller, but extremely powerful and resilient Tripods before they sweep through your lines. For the Martians, you feel vastly outnumbered by the hordes of human tanks, infantry and artillery, but rely on your superior armor and weaponry to see you through.
I found the game to be a lot of fun on the few occasions I got to play it but YMMV.

Kid_Kyoto, thanks so much for bringing this to my attention. I'd completely given up on this game coming back, so I'm extatic. I backed the kickstarter, and had great fun with the game so far, but I assumed it would fade away after the creators went belly-up.

Aren't there still KS backers out there out of product though? I could be mistaken, but I recall that this was the case when the company went tits up back then.

Yes. Some of the KS backers never got thier larger models, because they were not finished before Alien Dungeon died. A new company bought the rights to the game and the previous owner is in bankruptcy. So those backers will have to go through that to get any redress. Unfortunately they will probably get nothing as Ernie owes a lot of people.

Yeah, I was a backer and never received some of units (both stretch goals and add-ons). Ended up selling my pledge in a momentary temper tantrum. However, I still had enough regret that I've since picked up a starter and some other units now that they're back.

Yeah. I bought someone's pledge and received most of it, but there were some models which never arrived.
After Alien Dungeon went out of business I received some bankruptcy paperwork earlier this year and from my understanding there wouldn't be any compensation for backers who were still missing product due to the bankruptcy proceedings. If that information is incorrect someone please correct me.
I have no idea if the new owners of AQMF have plans to do anything for the KS backers. I personally don't care at this point as the missing models were ones that hadn't made it to production, and I received the majority of the pledge I bought. If memory serves Alien Dungeon was going to issue store credits for the unproduced models, and then went out of business shortly after announcing the credit plan.
I'd completely understand if other backers were still upset, though.

The Bankruptcy is over and the new owners have stated they will not be responsible for any undelivered product from Alien Dungeon.
also think I will hold off since the prices seem a bit higher then before or maybe not, but having owned most of the items and judging by what they are charging seems a bit high to me, also was never a fan of all the metal pieces the game had.
that and not getting my stuff from Alien Dungeon kind of irked me too.

Not as far as I can tell. The retail prices seem to match what AD was charging ($25 for 3 tanks, or $40 for 3 tripods, with blister packs being anywhere from $15-25 each). Even the Land Iron Clad seems to have kept its $200 price.

That feels vaguely like a conflict of interests, but the market finds its way, and no matter how they do, or do not push the game, the gaming community will be its ultimate judge.
I do think its only a rule-book rewrite away from being a solid game. I enjoyed the bits I did get, although I admit it'll be hard to ever sell the wife on giving it another try as we were out so much thanks to the horrific bankruptcy debacle.

I don't think it is a conflict of interest. CMON sells Dark Age, Dakka's owners sell MEdge, Fantization Miniatures had Rusted Heroes, Frontline Gaming has their F.A.T. Mats, etc. My point is there is a precedent for retailers (I know Dakka is not a retailer), producing their own miniature/gaming lines and selling those lines directly.
It would be nice if MM discounted AQMF items even slightly. I was surprised that they weren't discounted upon my initial perusal of their site, but that was before I knew MM's head actually owned AQMF.

Officially, no... but as the biggest website for sales of product in our hobby, in the entire US.... they have a tacit obligation to at least share that they have an in-house game to promote... and might have reason to push some "other" products out of visibility to promote said game.

Actually that would be The War Store for selling our hobby stuffs in the US. The War Store is actually the distributor for Miniature Market. MM gets all their product from The Warstore.
