Ok so I know these kind of threads get started all the time, but I have a few questions and I thought I'd group them all together.
First, are there any good Sisters novels, I'm interested in getting to know more about their fluff, but I'd also like to read more about Sanctuary 101 too.
Second, where would someone start with Colonel Schafers Last Chancers in regards to novels, are they in any books? I've just started painting the models, and I'd love to read about them in books.
Third and final question, which three stand alone 40k novels would you recommend a person should read before they die.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Stand alone 40k novels:
1. Helsreach by ADB http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/helsreach-ebook.html
2. Wrath of Iron by Chris Wraight http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/wrath-of-iron-ebook.html
but there are an awful lot of really great series from the Cain archive through to Gaunt's Ghosts

There are some decent Sisters novels out, but it would be far cheaper to wait a few months for the omnibus edition. The Last Chancers Omnibus is a great read, and is available now. For 40k books to read, I'd say: 1. Eisenhorn (actually an omnibus of 3 novels, but quick); 2. Ciaphas Cain (the first two omnibuses are hilarious); and 3. ...uh, it depends. I'd say Execution Hour, because I love space battles, but there are so many good 40k stories that cater to specific tastes. What exactly are you interested in?

The only books I've read with Sisters of Battle in any prominent roles have been Legion of the Damned, Grey Knights (the first book of the omnibus) and The Death of Antagonis. And the last two books focus mostly on just one sister. In fact, The Death of Antagonis only had one Sister in it, she was just one of the main characters. And Legion of the Damned mostly just featured them as... political figures. I'm actually interested to hear about good Sisters books, too. Automatically Appended Next Post: To pick 3 books for the 40k fan to read before they die, I'm just going to default one of my slots to the Horus Heresy crowd... I haven't read any Horus Heresy.
My #1 would be The Siege of Castellax, it's about Orks invading an Iron Warriors planet.
My #2 would be Dark Creed, the final book in the Word Bearers Omnibus, if I can't recommend the whole thing as one book. (Just read the whole thing) That last one, though. It captures The Grim Darkness of the 41st Milleniumâ„¢ in a way I haven't seen before or since, in any of the Chaos Space Marine books I have read, and I have read most of them.

Well I've been reading the HH books and I love the epic saga feel of them, but it would be nice to have something a little different to break things up a little between each one. I've downloaded the first Last Chancers book and I'm just getting into it now. I tried reading Eisenhorn but couldn't get into it for some reason, I should maybe give it another go after the Chancers.
