Not being the same factions other than to collect why would A person want to buy them? Seems like they encouraging eBay purchases. I'm I missing something?

The rules for the Imperial Triumvirate (at least) were set up so they can be stuck in any Imperial army and give advantages for doing so. I suspect future Triumvirates will behave similarly.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

So they made a formation to sell me models in a group that I may or may not want To collect .
I don't have no problem with that just wish they gave the option to buy what you wanted in singles as well as far as characters go.

It encourages you to buy stuff you would otherwise not likely buy and or even start collecting an allied army you would never have started, and it is also a great way to market them as a full release of a box + a campaign book rather than just hey we made a new model. They are also the perfect kit for those who already have a finished army. It makes a lot of sense really from their point of vieuw. I agree with you, I would rather have just a blister containing the hero that I wanted ; )

But I have to admit that these releases look great, and would have convinced me if I didn't already have a backlog with my current armies.

I'm willing to bet good money they'll be released individually in time, albeit at more than buying the 'Triumvirate' box but by that point they'll probably discontinue the box itself. This is just done now to encourage you to put down more brass right now whilst it's new and shiny.

GW don't believe that there are models in their range that you wouldn't want to collect.

I don't see the problem with it honestly.

Recent history suggests that any boxed set comes with significant savings.

Yeah you might not use or collect the other models, but you can sell or trade them.

Buying three things at a discount is only a saving if you actually want all three of those things.

It's also only a saving if those three things are available individually in order to have a separate price with which to compare. Otherwise, it's not a discount, it's just the price.

Yeah, as long as this is the only option for buying the models, the price is just what it is. It will most likely cost more to buy them all individually in the future, but if all I wanted was Grayfax, for example, £25 is still better than £50.

A better situation would be to find some friends who are willing to go in for the models you don't want, though then you have to decide how to split up the cost yourselves.

The triumvirates will be sold individually in the future, the current packages are "while supplies last". The rumored prices for the individual models are pretty high, so if you want more than 2 out of the 3 models youre better off buying the triumvirate box. Hell, even if you only want 1, buy the triumvirateband sell the other 2 on ebay.

Yep. Selling the ones you don't need is probably your cheapest option overall. And those of us picking them up on eBay will thank you for your assistance.

I just buy the set off ebay and sell what I don't want.

Got the full set for £42 (imperium triumvirate)
Sold cawl for £28
Sold greyfax for £18
Kept Celestine.

All this was sold through auction rather than BiN.
So I got Celestine and got paid £4.

I have no complaints with that price.

The prices are a bit lower now, but it's easily possible to buy the models at a huge discount to what they would be normally.

Same here .
Store purchase, store sold, dollars not pounds and didn't quite get the saving because Cawl wasn't a popular piece but still got the Saint and her bodyguards for under twenty bucks.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.
