Bell of Lost Souls are reporting on this week's prices.

Judicators and Liberators are repackaged into boxes of 10, and will retail for $62US. Prosectuors repackaged to boxes of 6, $74US.

Previous prices for Judicators and Liberators? $50 for 5.

No word yet on the UK price, but perhaps around £40 for 10?

Called it. To begin with their prices were outrageous, but it's good to see price decrease.

Not a price reduction.

It's a new box, new SKU, new EAN.

Not a shocker either, because GW has done this for the last 2 years now with various bundled sets or reboxing.

Dear, call it what you want. But before, outside AOS-starter, 10 liberators would cost you a hundred bucks.

This largely follows the pattern of price reductions and larger size kits coming to AoS. Admittedly previously it was the old fantasy kits getting reboxed into larger units with savings but the pattern has been savings made on AoS boxes for a while now.

BUUUTTTTTT they also have price increases as well. Deamons of Tzeench reboxings had some price increases. Also look at 40K with the Betrayl at Caalth minis. While not a price increase, they listed the price pretty high when they became single packs.

Games Workshop seems more scattered now in their pricing policy. They really want to through off us and make sure we don't understand what they do or think. Nothing makes sense at all.

I simply say 'don't knock the reductions'

Sure, some stuff goes up, now and again. But it's been a long time since we had a 'this section of our range is going up 15% because it is' type price rises.

Though of course, this move has arguably just made Start Collecting Stormcast Eternals the worst value Start Collecting :p

I'm all for giving GW thumbs up when they do well.
This is doing well.

However, they repackaged the basic Tau infantry unit and added a small turret item. That box went from $36.25 or so to $50 even.

Funny thing is, the Stormcast start collecting box is not as good a deal as it once was. But, the reboxing is welcome nonetheless.

Surprise or not, its welcome news after watching the prices claw their way up the wall for the last 2 decades.

My moment of shock was seeing the Space Marine Chapter collection they had up a few years ago. 1000 marines and all their vehicles, and not a cent cheaper than buying them individually. Not a cent.

We're definitely being 'spoiled' of late. Like, by comparison,

Just the other day I picked up the Ad Mech £100 set. Now, as an army it's not really the cheapest to collect - whilst it's points intensive, the individual boxes can be annoyingly expensive. But that set? £50+ saving, and a good mix of units to boot.

If I can find another, I'll get another. Because Ad-Mech. Yes.

I believe he is referring to the fact it comes with 2 Retributors, when the minimum for Matched Play is 5 (and I believe the minimum even going by the warscroll is 3). Which makes sense in the context of buying the Start Collecting box and the Starter box (which gives you 3 Retributors, so you'll end up with 5 total) but makes the Start Collecting box on its own a pretty bad purchase because you can't actually field the Retributors unless you want to pay like 220 points for 2 models, or buying the starter (since that's the only way to get exactly 3 Retributors; the regular box has 5, the little mini snapfit box has 2). I'm not even sure if the ones in the SC box are the snap-fit kind like in the starter set (probably?) or the kind with actual options so you could at least give them 2 Starsoul Maces.

Go ahead and run a unit of 2 retributors for 220 points if you want. When I say you can't run them I don't mean they're bad I mean you CAN'T run them.

I may be misunderstanding the argument but GHB on p. 107 says.

"Under-Strength Units

Sometimes you may find that you do not have enough models to field a unit at full strength; if this is the case, you must still pay the full cost of the unit.

For example, if you decided to field a unit of 3 Liberators, rather than a full strength unit with 5 models, the unit would still cost 100 points."

Unless they're keeping the old fire warriors box.

Read the warscroll, 'A unit of retributors consists of 3 or more models.' By raw you need 1 more to even use them in open play.

That's really strange, since in GHB a unit of retributors is 5 models. Maybe they should have made them 3 models and 120pts to field per 3 for point based battles? I always thought it was odd that the start collecting and intro sets only had 3 retributors in them instead of 5.

There are several warscrolls that have a different number of required models for Open Play versus Matched Play. For example, Tzaangors start at five models for Open Play but ten models for Matched Play.

You have to understand that this game is basically split into 2 time periods and some stuff ended up pretty weird because of that.

Read the Liberator warscroll, "A unit of Liberators has 5 or more models..." yet in GHB it talks about taking only 3 Liberators being okay as long as you pay the points for 5.
Unless the example applies only to Liberators, RAW you can also play with just 1 Retributor as long as you pay the points.

Yeah this continues to annoy me, GW makes double duty kits but they can't be used to make '2 units' they can make one unit and leave you with a pile of heads and arms you have no use for. I love bitz and I understand that it's better for GW and stores to have fewer SKUs to stock, but I don't think customers get any additional value for the higher price.

It's moot either way, 2 retributors are utterly pointless by themselves regardless of whether or not they're a legal choice.

In the general scheme of things, sure.

But don't forget Start Collecting sets are sold as a complete Formation - whilst I'm not familiar with the Stormcast one itself, but the two likely play a role in that specific formation.
