Big guy is coming along quite nicely. A few good washes can fill in those fiddly areas. Liking the greenskin, too.

Thanks!

Once again I ended up building something rather than working on the stuff I was supposed to:-

But sometimes you just need to lose yourself in assembling a kit.

I can show this guy off though (Crimson Armoured Warrior - Kingdom Death):-

He was painted up a few months ago for the last Kingdom Death painting competition.
Didn't get anywhere, I was way out of my league, but I like him and I only entered for the participation prize, so it's all good!

Really need to get the others painted up one day.

You're doing a better job getting through KD than me, aku. I love their models, but when I think about working on them I get bogged down with the malaise that has grown around that KS. Been so long, with so little progress, and the continual sales of new stuff on their website while backers face the real possibility of a 10 YEAR fulfilment drag me down.

Keep up the good work!

It may not have made much financial sense, since I'll probably end up buying a big chunk of it anyways, but I still think I did the right thing getting my Kickstarter pledge refunded.
No good getting things cheap if you no longer want them when you finally get them.

Life is still getting in the way of painting, but I am finding the odd moment here and there to build things.

The missing minis from my Warcrow starter arrived, so I could finally build the human half of the set:-

Fortunately, went together a lot better than the Orcs did!
And I've been building more Kingdom Death ladies:-

Frog Girl and Crossbow Knight so far.

Those minis look pretty rad. Reminder to self: stay away from Warcrow.

Bring on the Frog Girl!

The warcrow minis are snazzy but I still have mixed feelings about the Siocast stuff they're made from.

Shock, horror!
I actually did some painting this week, not something I was supposed to be painting but I'll take what I can get:-

It's been fun to work on so far.
And still building things:-

The last few Guild Ball peeps.

And more Kingdom Death, had to put the viking guy on a bit of cork because he's way too big for his base.

Hey, sometimes your motovation just needs some variety. Looks good so far, and lots of interesting stuff lined up on deck.

Just wish it didn't need quite so much variety, all those half finished minis!

A bad cold I can't quite shift ate into my hobby time this week, but I got a bit done:-

More building!

This is the follow up set to the Warcrow starter, and we're back to the minis being pretty gap-ridden. They've got that old problem where they've got both hands on a weapon but only one hand actually lines up its arm.
They're nice minis but they're too much work, so I'm not going to pick up any more until it looks like Corvus Belli has gotten better at using this Siocast stuff.

With no Warcrow to try and keep up with, I'm going to try and make a dent in my Warhammer Underworlds stuff instead, I built some Ninja Rats.

Also a random mage lady.

Did get a little painting done:-

Finished the Monks for Lady Z's ride.

Hitting the floor of her ride with a brown wash to pick out the gaps and cracks accidentally gave me this lovely marbled tile effect. I'm actually going to be pretty disappointed that most of this will be covered up in the end

Also back on the Guild Ball stuff, not much left to do to Greede.

Enh, half finished minis now means lots of easier to finish minis later. Paint looking nice, always nice to see more ratty boys. Definitely seeing the gapping on the dwarfs for the Warcrow stuff--unfortunate, hopefully they figure it out. Good job keeping going!

Greede is looking good. So is the purple procession. You always have such a variety, it's easy to forget GW is in there, too.

Yeah, it's a shame about the Warcrow minis, I was really hyped up for that range. Annoyingly, no one else seems to have gotten a bad set.

Thanks!

More painting!

Veteran Greede is all finished:-

I think he came out okay.

And I've started my next Baller:-

This one is called Pin Vice.

I've also started painting my Underworlds stuff again:-

Just randomly picked out one of the older Dark Elf ladies.

And making a little more progress on Lady Z:-

The monks arms didn't connect as seamlessly to their bodies as I would've liked. Hopefully, once it's all finished it won't be too noticeable.

I agree, not really seeing the seams now.

Greede looking good, and always fun to do just a random model to try.

Thanks guys!
The dodgy joins are a bit more noticeable from other angles, but it's mostly a case of 'I know they're there, so I can't unsee them'.

Bit more painting done, concentrated on the two ladies this week:-

The Elf lady got some big green hair and dodgy eyes.

And Pin Vice got a rather poor attempt at metallic cable hair, the sculpt is a bit lacklustre in that area (It's like the sculptor couldn't decide if she had normal hair or wires, so they did a kind of mishmash of both that doesn't really work for anything).

And more building of course:-

A Kingdom Death battle maid.

And some Evil Space Marines.
Not sure why I brought these guys as I'll probably never paint them. At least they are fun to put together for the most part, I'd prefer the arms to have nubs or something, so I know if I'm putting them on right.

Green Hair and Dodgy Eyes sounds like an album title, for sure.

She's looking good, though. Still trying to decide if I need to own that model. And if I do, she's got a good chance of ending up like your Marines. "Why did I buy this?"

I like how Pin Vice is coming along, especially the wood grain (is that wood grain? I'm going to assume that it is) on her armor.

Now showing various models from the previously adandoned projects!

Painting total as of 3429/2024: 56 plus a Deva King statue
Painting total as of 12/31/2024: 107 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers and a quad mech and five giants

Thanks! I don't think I'd recommend picking her up as a painting project, her details are a bit soft and mushy in places (Probably because she's one of the earlier Underworlds minis).

JoshInJapan wrote:I like how Pin Vice is coming along, especially the wood grain (is that wood grain? I'm going to assume that it is) on her armor.

Thanks! It's very fine wood grain, I'm honestly surprised it took a drybrush.

I didn't get a lot of hobbying done during the week, got a lot of life stuff on my plate at the moment, but I got a good session in today:-

The Elf lady and Pin Vice are getting there slowly, did not enjoy picking out that pattern on Pin Vices cape though.

And got all the wood done on Lady Z's throne.

Going to try and get more hobbying in this week, hopefully get something finished.

Is the beige KD figure next to the big Viking a Warhammer homage? I ask because I just so happened to look at your blog after looking at theCrow’s blog, where the latest post showed some old Warhammer art that looks really similar in many ways.

Wow, that does look similar!
But no, I think she's just meant to be a stereotypical anime/JRPG fantasy female mage.

I've finished stuff! Woot!
First there's Pin Vice (Guild Ball):-

Not one of my best, even though she's a fairly simple mini I did struggle with this one.

And Morgwaeth (Warhammer - Underworlds):-

Apart from her face, I don't think I did too badly on this one.

Also I've almost finished Lady Z's throne:-

Just got to finish off some of the metallics and then it's on to the woman herself.

Plus, I've been building stuff:-

Stormcoven.

Another Kingdom Death lady, I left some bits off this one, because I couldn't work out how to attach them.

Angry Space Marine chap.
Always liked this guys weird muscle armour, so had to get him as soon as the plastic version came out.

And I've picked out the next Guild Ball and Underworlds minis:-

Ratcatcher Graves for Guild Ball.

And Floaty Dwarf for Underworlds.

I really liked the leatherwork on Pin Vice (Vise?) there - looks both weathered and realistic!

Thanks everyone!

I haven't done much this week, now the weather is getting a bit colder my hands are playing up, but I'm still trying to make slow but steady progress:-

Graves just got some leather armour.

But I did finish the dwarfs blimp.

And made a small start to Lady Z and her friend.

Pin Vise looks very nice all painted up. It must have been a bear to pick out the details in metallics on her cape.

Don't remind me, it was danged difficult spotting all those random swirly bits.

Today was the first day I did any painting, it was a busy week, so I didn't get much done.

Graves got the most attention.

Floaty Dwarf got the least.

Lady Z and friend got matching outfits.

Gotta try and do more next week.

A little bit of progress this week:-

Graves is mostly done, just needs his poncho painting.

Lady Z is done, her friend just needs her candles doing.

Should get a few things finally finished next week, probably would've got them done this week had I not been putting together the new plastic Warmachine Starter set:-

Not sure who's doing the manufacturing, but they're doing a good job!
