In a similar vein to the Age of Sigmar stuff in MongooseMatt's thread, I thought it'd be nice for you lot to show off the various Kill Teams and terrain for Shadow War Armageddon.
Thread rules:
Keep it positive!
Look forward to seeing what you lot come up with .

Bit of background, I’ve been super hyped since the details of Shadow War started to emerge. 2nd Edition was my edition. However, as more details emerged, I hit a bit of an obstacle. For all the ~4000pts of Space Marines I have painted, I ain’t got no scouts (they just don’t fit the army… thematically). Sooo, I could paint the scouts from the SWA box and sacrifice the narrative integrity of my Space Marine Chapter ….. Orrr, I could start painting some of the Traitor Guard army which I’ve been building for ages, but swore not to take a brush to until all my Space Marines were finished (I’m close).
Chose the latter, so here they are….
I’ll run them as Veteran Imperial Guard for now. I might paint a couple of Death Guard and run them as cultists in future.
Painting-wise I was trying to toe that line between a quality that I’m happy with, and the realities of having around 130 of them to paint (and I’d like them to be consistent). Still not quite finished, they need another sprinkling of weathering powder around the feet, and the need varnished/sealed.
I’m really happy with the overall look to be honest. Very close to how I imagined them. I think it works.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Apologies for the hastily taken pictures.

At the moment, I'm trying to find 5 3rd edition Necron Immortal models, then putting on urban pee made bases.
These will be full time SW:A models, so they will be painted differently but tie in with my main Necron force. Until I actually get some, I'm gonna work on the background to why the Necrons look different to the usual ones encountered by the Imperium.
A few ideas I have floating in my head are they are ancient "prototype" style Immortals that were in a stasis vault under Armageddon's surface, but forgotten about during the bio transference and War in Heaven. Another is they are designed to blend in and be mistaken for Imperial robots or even statues, allowing them to work without getting clocked as Xenos. Lastly, I'll play them as a new designed, one that can easily conceal ammo, equipment etc. In the carapace, including communication gear and spares.
But mostly, I just want them for the nostalgia factor, the poor pig ugly bastards...

The whole lack of options in Shadow War made me a bit grumpy, so I made a Mechanicus Cyber-Assassin team, using Wych rules. The hardest part was finding alternative gladiatorial weapons. In the end, I decided to give my Syren a Power Sword and splinter pistol (because I like showing off my power sword effects, and make two Bloodbrides with Hydragauntlets and Shardnet/Impaler.
I made my Splinter Pistols out of Fletchette Blasters modified with shortened Radium Carbine barrels, and the magazines removed, except in the case of soulseeker ammunition, where I flipped the mags around instead of clipping them off. To make Wych Knives, I just cut down Transonic Blades.
The Hydragauntlets are three parts, chordclaws, Marine shoulder components cut off of various arms, and cut-down Kataphron Destroyer servo-arms, the ones on the bottom of the Plasma Caliver.
I made the Shardnet and Impaler by replacing one arm with a bunch of mechandendrites, which had Chordclaw spikes glued onto the ends to make them look stabby. The Impaler itself is a Fulgurite staff, with one end replaced with a cut-down transonic blade.
I intentionally varied the components I used, to make the warband more chaotic. Some of them have electro-priest backpacks, some have Skitarii backpacks, and one has a standard Sicarian backpack.
Each assassin is based on a Sicarian torso with de-emo'd Wych legs (cut off all the spikes and random skin reveal bits), with various arms and heads. 4 of them have modded Ruststalker heads, the Bloodbrides have Kataphron heads, the Deubtante has a Ranger head. I'm proud to say that not a single model has components from less than four kits.
With my spare legs and torso, I also made a counts-as Scourge with Blaster, because jetpacks are cool, and I wanted to make a clockwork-angel type.
Pics (only 5 of the 7, plus the Scourge). Painted pics are on my blog.

Two Harakoni Warhawks Stormtroopers, while they'll also be used in my 1k points list of Scion, they're going to be the guys I rock if I play SW:A, I might have to use other Scions/Stormtroopers/Grenadiers models if I feel like I need more poweful special weapons.

I've alwayed liked Tyranid Warriors, but they're sort of terrible in 40k proper (and I've no interest in making a giant Tyranid swarm army), but they're perfect as a small skirmish killteam.
I really wanted to go for a good alien look, something bizarre and otherworldly that plays off the insect+dinosaur look of the Tyranids. I also wanted to tap into some Lovecraft style cosmic horror, and decided that these guys are all going to be cthonic blind monstronsities, crawling around in the dark corners of the earth. I might paint them a pale pink-white, like earthworms.
Two basic warriors, feeling around in the darkness with their noodley wiskers.
My Warrior Alpha, sporting some fancy fly wings (He can't actually fly in the rules, but I figure he can go fast enough and they look cool)
Two 'Gun Beasts', which are the heaviest conversions. Tyranids are awesome, but I've never really liked the whole bioweapons/swords that are held like guns. I wanted something totally removed from anthropomorphism, and thus... the "Bee-rex"
And finally a cute little Ravener popping out of the ground like a death worm.

Very cool Tyranids! Do you mind if I ask how you did the gun beasts? A lot of the Tyranid kits blend together to me as far as bits go, so it's very hard to tell.

Inquisitor Covrum Tumnal is almost done being painted, but good god, he's freaking huge. The biggest problem I can forsee is the very good chance that the coming Inquisitional kill team list is going to be far more limited than the extent of conversions on his model represent. On one hand, he's just a (very big) Inquisitor in power armour with a daemonhammer, and these have been mainstays of the Inquisitional armour for decades. But on the other, GW's modern policy of no rules without a model means... well, it means bad things.

I'm debating if I want to use the guardsmen I already have or to get a scion kit and CCS kit and bash them together. The issue with using scion stuff is that they'll then look like scions, which I don't want to confuse people with in case I take an actual scion.

Veterans get bits of kit from all over. Scions shoulders on an IG model shouldn't look too outlandish.
But, the scion models are more like Marines than IG infantry, especially around the necks. My Gallery shots show the Scions heads on IG bodies.

I do like the shoulders on cadian bodies, although I've used most of my scion bits here and there. My biggest issue with it is that I don't want to mix scion shoulders and cadian shoulders between the same squad, but that might be the case if I use the scout shotguns as I plan to (the scout arms actually might look fine without modification).

Great minds think alike. I was looking at eBay this past week for the older chunky metal Immortals for this reason. Always wanted to paint some and now they won't have to try and blend in with the rest of my army.
But I also think I'm going to stick with a more Deathmark/Immortals focused list. The DMs seem like they were born for this type of narrative

Decided to go with Orks. I have a 3k point Ork army all assembled, figured this would give me a starting point for painting.
Blood Axe clan
-Nob. Big Choppa, Eavy Armor, Slugga.
- 2x Boys. Buzz-choppa, Slugga.
- 2x Spanner Boy. Rokkit-launcha/Big-Shoota.
- 5x Yoof. Sluggas.
Based on the GW city fight bases. Will start painting them this week. Going for a sneaky, murderous git, look. Stalking the city to steal and kill.

So I bought a box of Harlequins...
Looking at what rules I can get for SWA at the moment (the PDF on GW's site) I'm trying to work out a team, but going by the points costs and the stuff available in the box, I'm really struggling.
I know that, running a campaign I can theoretically add more guys and upgrade gear later, but I don't particularly fancy tearing the arms off my dudes as I level up. I also worry about being able to add new guys as I understand I'll usually be looking at around 100pts per match.
Can I save up the points? I think I'll need more to get even some newbies in. I'm also wondering if I can run a team without a leader to start with, or at least upgrade guys from new recruits to specialists or what have you?
If the starter set had been made as more than a method of hype to get people to buy the new terrain sets I might be able to check out the rest of the rules (or put together a Guard team) I'd have a better idea of what I can or can't do.
Finally, I wonder how people's thoughts are to me building my models as they're eventually intended to be, rather than how they start off with their points-restricted load-outs? I've only just started getting back into the hobby, so would probably be playing games more often than not in the actual GW (Warhammer?) shop. How strict are WYSIWYG rulings?

You can spend a Promethium cache to gain an extra 100 points to spend between a match.

You can now buy the rulebook digitally or as a standalone paperback. It answers every single one of your problems.

In my experience, most people aren't going to be too worried so long as your models are consistent and identifiable.

I'll be getting the rulebook when it comes out next week for sure, but getting stuck in to the modelling now. Gonna have to stick with the HOR rules for my Traitor Guard and just hope I do well enough to make them feasible in Shadow War. I have plenty of Catachans to go around...I think.
