Hey guys and gals,
I have a buddy who is trying to decide which battlebox to pick solely for the models. Mk2 Morgoul1,Titan, 2 savages OR MK 3 Xekaar, Titan, Raider and savage.
I'm still to new to suggest any advice to I'm trying to help him out. Has morghoul improved since mk2? Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Morghoul1 is good. However, you don't need 3 Savages, so I don't recommend both. I have both, myself, and was considering buying Brute parts to convert one of those Savages to a Brute. Never have gotten around to it, though, and I'm looking to get rid of my Skorne collection and focus on my Mercenaries.
Definitely get the new one first if he is a new player. For one, it includes the book. For another, he's the only official option for the Journeyman League. Xekaar is pretty good himself, and can keep his Battlegroup alive for a pretty low cost. Also remember that his two 2" Weapons are also Weaponmaster.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

Two Gladiators is also a bit of a stretch, especially starting off. Only time I've ever really used two (rather than going for Tibbers, Karn, a Bronzeback...) was in Mk.2 Rasheth-tier Titan-spam lists.
Morghul1 is almost unchanged from MK2. He got Side Step, which opens up a few weird edge-case janky assassination angles he couldn't manage before; I don't remember what his third spell was before. He basically runs the same way (Abuse/Rush a sacrificial warbeast and send it hurtling into the enemy to buy time for the rest of the army to get into position, then when everything's close enough feat and beat things up with little fear of retaliation), just with a few extra options when things come down to the wire.
Xekaar is sort of a more defensive variant of the same battle plan; he doesn't come with a speed buff but he's got better damage buffs between Mortality and Enrage, Psycho Surgery to uncripple aspects across your entire battlegroup, and a feat that prevents enemies in his control area from killing much, so the basic strategy is very much the same (deathball up the table, run in and hit things, use the feat to stall the other guy's attempts to hit back for a turn).
I'd recommend Xekaar over Morghul if you're trying to teach a new player the game; Morghul is a very aggressive 'caster that plays to the assassination by overcommitting his army and hoping he can beat a path to the enemy 'caster before everything dies, Xekaar gives you more room to maneuver and is generally more flexible. New players tend to be nervous and reluctant to go all-in aggro-murder right away (or at least try to play safe with their pieces/kill enemy units rather than rushing the instant-win condition), and Xekaar doesn't punish you for that attitude the way Morghul does.

Since I'm a noob, can't comment other than asthetics, but think Morguls looks a bit cooler...
