I've had and sold two giant Tyranid armies, and while I dont think Im motivated enough (or have the time) to play 40k again, 8th sounds awesome and Tyranids finally have a fun codex to use.

When I read how fast the Swarmlord was, I wanted to make my own and I can imagine him fluttering forward, not on giant functional wings, but more like a big bad alien chicken with limited
bursts of flight.

So Ive printed out some custom wings and a head. Given how much of a combat monster he is, I wanted him to fight with a primary scythed weapon and then a side dagger, like the Peacekeeper in
For Honor.

So heres where we are so far...I had to handle it before the primer was ready so theres some rub off where the orange resin is visible, but soon we will be ready to paint. Ive gone back and done some gap filling
and cleaning to make sure he's ready.

Good luck there Zach.

Since you have built the army twice already this should be old hat.

Thats true in a sense, but in the past I chose a paint scheme that was super quick to reproduce. This time, since Im not really trying to get models on the board to play, Im moving a lot slower.

Thanks man! I started the paint last night, just airbrushing the basecoats.

This is the 'paint scheme' Im basing everything on:

The paints for each step are beside the pick...forgot at first.

NATO Black and Sombre Gray

I failed!

I finished it, and although it looks good, I dont like it enough to commit to doing an army this way. So back to some soul searching...unfortunately, Im having a hard time thinking of something I like more than my last scheme.
