Ridin' on a Snotling Pump Wagon

Totes random I know.....
But before I head off to beddington, a quick topic. Hopefully the title is self explanatory. And it's open to any wargames miniatue range.
For me? Hands down the Imperial Knight. As a sad old grognard, to see the resurrection of an Imperial faction is one thing....but Knights is proper top banana.
And the basic kit is beautifully executed.
Easy to paint for people like me, but enough blank space for those with artistic talent to go to town. Yes your Knight will look better than mine, but my paint job is still flattered by the sculpt.
The pose and design also works for me. It's braced, but also stomping forward - and both in a heroic stance. Which given the static nature of its weapon sculpts is important. Such a large model could all too easily have turned out staid and static.
But for my money, they knocked it square out the park?
But enough of my fancying around and wimbrilng, yeah, I said wimbriling..... what's your nomination, and why?

Very hard to pick one, but if I had to chose...
The perfect mix between heavy armour, pose, proportions, and realistic sci-fi.

Agree with the Imperial Knight.
Though my absolute favorites that I can think of on the top of my head is probably Eldrad from Death Masque box set and genestealer cult Magus.

Firstly excellent use of the word wimbrilng Doc, it's a word most people would let lie, but some wouldn't let it lie
I think Veteran Katalyst for Guildball is a strong contender for me in all his 'not Bane' glory
Also kind of like the new Sky Dwarfs for AOS

Oh man, that's a tough call. There are so many that look cool to me that I have a hard time picking just one... I'll break it up into categories:
40K Vehicle - Imperial Knight, for all the aesthetic reasons mentioned before. I have 3 of the the beauties. The fact that they are decent on the tabletop is just a bonus.
40K Infantry - the plastic Ogryns/Bullgryn kit. One of the reasons I fell in love with the Imperial Guard so many years back was for the Ogryns, and I always wanted them in plastic (converted some out of Fantasy Ogres a long while back), and I always like the idea of giving them Power Weapons and an Invulnerable Save. I never played them back in 6th or 7th Edition, but with 8th Edition coming, I will be implementing them in a big way!
40K Other - Thunderwolf Cavalry kit. It is just AWESOME to me. I started playing with them back when the kits first came out and enjoyed the playing them back when no one knew how they performed. Awesome kits, and solid rules (though I quit playing them when everyone considered them OP cheesy).
Age of Sigmar - Megaboss on Maw-Crusha. Big, cool, and lots of cool details that shades and drybrushing can make look phenomenal. I don't own one yet, but it's pretty high on my list! Need one to finish my Ironjawz
Warmahordes - Butcher 3 and Ruin character Warjack. While I don't enjoy the game anymore, and can't stand my local "meta", the Butcher 3 model is pretty cool, and I managed one of my best paint jobs on it. Ruin goes with him, and I also managed an above-average-for me paint job on it. I'm getting rid of a bunch of my Warmahordes models, but I am keeping them. (the dogs that came with Butcher 3 dont' inspire me at all, sadly, I had my big dog fill taken by my Thunderwolves )
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Reaper
- the Ma'al Drakar model from the Reaper Bones 3 Kickstarter is cool. Mine came in yesterda, and I am so excited to paint it up. It will be my second largest model I own, right after my old Armor Cast Reaver Titan.
GW
- the Militarum Tempestus kit is cool. While I miss the Kasrkin aesthetic, the new Stormtroopers are still cool in their own way.
- the Dark Imperium Starter Set is full of ( IMHO) awesome models, and I plan on starting an army of both factions present in the future.
- the Glotkin model is also really cool. I want to make a Renegade Knight out of one!

I have read many people talking gak about the Ogryn/Bullgryn kit. "Those tank-track armour is absurd! They are ultra ugly!"
But to me they are the most beautifull unit of all the Imperial Guard range. I have always had a sweet spot for monsters and all of that but...

Plus, it helps that I like their fluff, and was able to use Ogryns to decent effect in late 5th Edition. Now that the new Edition is out, I may grab me a larger unit of them now. I do have the new Nork Deddog to lead them around somewhere...
@ Aetare - Yeah, that is a captivating model for the right and wrong reasons.

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

My current favorite is Geigor Fell-Hand from Burning of Prospero. I hate the ostentatious backpack, but I had tons of the old Space Wolf double-headed backpacks (basically what he has but with no icon), and now he's perfect.
Not only does he have great character and lots of balanced movement, but he's actually a character with a boltgun for a ranged weapon! Great example of how marines thought in the Heresy, but with Space Wolf flair.

I'm of two minds. The Dropfleet UCM cruiser is an amazing model that goes together precisely, yet retains enough flexibility to encourage conversions. It hits all my buttons.
However, the miniature that has inspired me the most is Reaper Bones' Mangu Timur. It's a humble mini to be sure, yet I can't help spinning backstory after epic backstory about him. He just captures that Darth Vader/Sauron vibe where I know he is the center of all the biggest stories.

My favourite at the moment is the Ben Affleck Batman from Knight Models. Simple, yet characterful pose (also one piece so dead easy to build), the suit design is one of my favourite Batman designs, and it helps that his rules in game are pretty great too

Great topic idea.
And a tough one. For 40k I would echo those saying the Genestealer cultists, great design, so many options, I already have two of them. The Scion/Storm Troopers also deserve a mention, but only if bought as part of the Start Collecting box because the price for the 5 man box is INSANE.
But for the last year or so I've been doing space ships so my vote goes to the Drop Fleet Commander UCM Frigate box.
I already bought 2 boxes and I don't even play Dropfleet!
It's one of the rare sets I opened the day I got it and and had assembled and painted in a week.
Very simple design, a T shaped hull with different parts to drop into the sides to make 5 variants.
Even better after building the big ships I used left over bitz to make some gun boats.
Fun kit with a lot of uses.

Great idea for a thread, but like 'best album' and 'best film' surveys almost impossible to choose.
If I had to pick one, Penthesilea from the Infinity/Aleph range.
This is a painted example from Century1 right here on these forums
Just so many neat touches with the miniature, it's not only aesthetically pleasing but thought has actually gone into how the bike and the rider on top of it would function. The two-fingers hovering over the brake, the way that the swingarm is a stressed member coming off the engine, the latter in particular is a real cutting edge piece of concept design in the automotive industry at the moment. Love the way it's balanced perfectly, as though she has swung the bike round and is scoping out her next target. Really, just the fact that you can tell so much thought has gone into it, which makes me appreciate it even more.

Oh my god, YES! The Dungeon delvers especially! Rationally attired realistic females are awesome enough but characters with torches and lanterns even on them are rare and Oathsworn hits both!
Bad Squiddo's are also a nice change but I personally find the sculpts a little too 80s/90's for my taste.

The 80's/90's aesthetic is part of the appeal for me, but I recognize that not everyone feels the same. I agree that the dungeon equipment really does make the Oathsworn models.
