I have a large collection of IG tanks and was looking for a cool alternative for a command russ. the Macharius is too large but found this knockoff called the mortian battle tank from heavysupport.com:

http://www.brueckenkopf-online.com/2009/review-mortian-battle-tank/

Looks like its not available anymore obviously due to IP. Any fellow treadheads know where I can get my hands on one?

I'm a fan of this fella from Mad Robot, if youre into the ww2 look.
I think the do orders by demand, so it might take a little while to get to you.

Man, the Mortian in the OP looks sweet as sugar. Really a shame it's gone.

I used a couple of Pig Iron productions Ironsides for mine.

Turrets were scratchbuilt, as were the sponsons. Sponson guns can swap out for plasma, multi-melta or heavy bolters.

Bog-standard Russ.

Russ Demolisher.

Russ Punisher

Vanquisher (non-modular at the back).

That said, these were made for 5th ed (the last edition I played).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

If you considered a macharius, did you consider a mars alpha pattern russ? That's what I use, I just added a banner, a tank commander and left off the big dome filter thing.

Where are the re casters when you need them.

As a tread head I'm disappointed that Forgeworld hasn't cranked out any AM tanks recently.

sadly they've become pretty HH centric, I understand it, on the other hand it means that other factions are getting ignored. if I was GW I'd consider putting the HH in it's own speciality studio so that FW could focus on optional goodies for 40k again... but I dunno..

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Was going to suggest the same thing. I love that site, them and Victoria Miniatures are my 2 favorite GW alternatives (though I do have a crap ton of Sisters from the TGG2 Kickstarter coming..... some day...... maybe?)

I just use the FW vanquisher version as my pask on a LR, I want to make sure the chassis is the same or similar to the regular LRBT.

I also have that Mad Robot miniatures tank. It is awesome. If you want a more Russian feel I recommend Anarchy Miniatures for an alternate hull and turret. http://www.anarchymodels.co.uk/vehicle-conversion-parts-5-c.asp

I did my own conversion to make it look like a Ragnarok tank (Epic 40k).

I have three of these tanks and as cool as they are, I believe they've been OOP for years (I got mine in 2009) and they were something of a PITA to build as each individual road wheel and literally most every single track link was it's own piece

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.
