Hey all, so I have some Leman Russes I did up a few years ago in red and gold. While I don't dislike the scheme, it looks kind of flat and boring.

I ideally want do do some sort of camo using red, but I'm not sure what type of camo or what other colors would go well with it.

Red camo is.....kinda pointless imo.
Only colour that goes whit it is black in your situation, perhaps in a flektarn pattern.

Would help if you could maybe showcase one of them?
When you say they look flat to you, to me it sounds as if you have just painted base colours and thats it.

Shading, chipping and weathering can bring a flat paintjob back to life.

Not sure if I like you my scheme (needs weathering and washes) but here it is anyway.

Asides from mars i cant think of anywhere that red would work as camo.

especially with gold accents.

Could be dressed out for a parade-style/Mordian look.

Most won't see the point to a red-based camo, but that's because we're all used to worlds with brown earth, green foliage and blue water/sky..

Mars has the rust deserts, so darker colours mixing in might work.

Conversely, consider a palette for a low-light world - most people see algae in a green state - if it grows in a place with little to no light, like a toilet cistern, it's red.

That third option, you could go with Catachans in a guerilla style combat, and to give them a pallette to your world, add light foliage on the bigger bases like the heavy weapon stuff, and show the foliage and earth in its shades so the general idea clicks with people.

Of course, there's also the not-so-loyalist option of the Blood Pact as well.

Could also be used against aliens that can't see red very effectively. Its an infinite universe, you can justify any scheme as being valid for somewhere.

But yeah, you can make red camo with greys or whites probably.

Some German WW2 tanks were painted with red primer and then the primer colour integrated in to the camo scheme.

From way way back GW has mentioned that since the IG fights on all sorts of worlds camo patterns can be any combination of colors since they probably work somewhere!

Red and brown or purple or grey look good together.

Might also look at some of the autumn leaves camo patterns hunters use.
