What have people been using instead of the flying stand that's just awkward in every sense of the word

...on a more serious note, I've seen certain terrain bits (towers and such) and copper rods used.

Though I hear he is terribly backed up and slow to produce.

I used 3/4" acrylic rod for a really heavy Forge World plane. Cheap for a huge staff of it. Even comes in transparent colors off Amazon too.

Flight stands for what?

for flyers no i like the GW Plastic one

for those new curved ones i hate them the connection suuuuuuucks

i use metal coat hangers.

Are you referring to the flying aircraft stand or the smaller flying stands for Tau, Necron, Eldar vehicles and flying infantry?

i keep the transparent clear rod but place it on a regular black base and base it the same style as the rest of the army.

Jetbikes I use the rod, but a larger base...infantry I use a larger base with a piece of brass piping. Grav tanks I use an inverted tri-pod method using the GW flying pegs trimmed down.

My answers to a few things...

Basic Small Flight Stands - I use clear plastic rod, sourced a bunch from here - just drill gently to bore out the hole, it's much less fiddly and prone to breaking..

Jetbike Ball Socket Joins - I take a drill and deepen them a bit so there's a lot more depth engaging the ball in the model, they're a lot less prone to slipping off that way.

My Falcons and Serpents got treated to a two-stand tactic, using the original flight stands, but with the small one in the center and the larger one forward on the base. Holds them nicely even without glue.


For sake of clarity, I keep flyers on their stands.
