What have you found is more effective? Running MSU of regular guardsmen or running the blobs of conscripts?

I'm wondering if it's better to have the 10 man units to screen against charges and leave the other squads open to shoot, rather than having to have a larger unit of conscripts fall back and just stand there unless issued orders. Lasguns barely do anything against most units, but hitting on 4+ is so much better than the 5+ Conscripts have.

From what I've seen of my AM force conscripts are massively better at screening. Their stubborn refusal to go away makes them great for soaking up fire and charges. Guardsmen squads on the other hand are one of the only ways to take lascannons that won't instantly evaporate under fire; so better serve in the second line. They make a decent second screen for your backline, but it's good to have a big pile 3 point bodies in front of them.

Why or I run both

Yep, both seems good. One or two blobs to cover the actual troops, while still doing acceptable damage with orders.

I run both. A 30 man Conscript Squad and the rest are Regular Guard Squads.
