I guess the though crossed most of our minds, that olden marines are going to disappear, giving way to simplified datasheet based blisters of easy to build Primaris
That will make the game much more accessible, easier to balance, cheaper to produce/sell standard packs and therefore get more sales out of emotional buyers
Do you think 40k will become niche like 30k, move to FW and give way to 41k? When might it happen?
I for one would welcome that, I find Primaris/New DG lines to be much more realistic/aesthetically pleasing and would love to see the old stuff go away, then again, I mostly have the new stuff (aside from Chaos, got even some metal Chaos old stuff)

I don't think origional marines will dissappear. They are more useful in competative lists... cheaper, far more options, provide more shots, etc.
Not to mention too many kits and folks have those models. They would have to out date all their new horus heresy marine kits then too, and make larger terminator kits.

The near future:
Marines will vanish. Only Primaris will remain, and the tanks of yore will rust as the new lanky dudes can't fit through the doors. All Marine players are now playing Adeptus Custodes armies anyway after the Grav Vehicle plastic dual-kit release. Worldwide gold spray shortage continues into its seventh month.
Orks will be squatted. GW loves the idea of horde armies as you have to buy loads, so to make up for the loss of Ork revenue Guard Conscripts get dropped to 2pts a model. GW 2018 financials their best ever.
Sisters of Battle will be released and immediately dropped, with a Shadow War-style scramble to buy the one box set they released for about a week. They didn't underestimate demand, they just love trolling Sisters players.
Tyranid players still have no Exocrine availability. The last three unbuilt boxes in the world are on eBay at ridiculous prices.
Astra Miliwossname dominate every major tournament, gaming league ladder, and are so powerful they even begin to garner real-world political influence. The Cadian 39th annexes Belgium. Female upgrade sprue released; every thread on Dakka ends up locked because sexists simply can't handle it.
Aeldari hats become even bigger. Some are so unwieldy they use Striking scorpions as hat bearers, so that Striking Scoprions have *some* purpose.
No one plays Grey Knights after their Smite was revised in CA 2019 to be full strength but only go off if you lightly tickle your opponent.
All Chaos forces squatted bar Death Guard to save making new Chaos models.
Genestealer Cults still unplayable. Owners sit holding the 7th ed Codex, gently rocking.
Everyone has forgotten about Newcromunda, as we're up to Gang War 17 and still don't have Delaque Gangs released.

How useful a model is only depends on how GW wants it to be, so that's hardly something worth consideration
Actually post Chapter Approved Primaris are downright better than any of their Marine counterparts already
1) Hellblasters > Devastators, but Inceptors are better than both of them - same firepower, cost, but much greater mobility, fly, assault heavy weapons and T5, plus deepstrike
Literally no reason at all to bring either devastators if you're doing a competitive list
2) Aggressors > any marine line unit that were used to deal with T3 opponents
3) Primaris Captain > Captain
4) Primaris Librarian > Librarian
Aside from apothecaries (which are mostly useless in any variety), Primaris line is simply superior after their points got decreased
^^^^ But that all is irrelevant, cause that may change on GW whim at any time, what's important to them is how to maximise profit
Here's how they will do it:
In 1-3 editions they will slowly make you buy Primaris so that it consists of > half of your total models, then they drop the old models completely, you won't drop the hobby, you lost only like a third of your army by that point and you won't be too angry anyway since they will offer something new and shiny

Marines were the ''superheros'' of the Imperium in the dark age.
Now it appears that GW is moving the story into the renaissance with Primaris becoming the new ''superheros''.

Yes true, I think that is why I like the Primaris being a new thing rather than a retcon of the good old Space Marine.
If you want to play 40k in the setting that we have known and loved for decades, then you can. All the Primarchs and Primaris and Ynarri etc. are kept in the new setting.
As to what we will see in the future, I would like to see some more story development.
They have been very slow so far in filling out the new story line, especially with that weird 200 year jump to the Plague Wars to shoehorn Mortarion into the storyline.
I would Black Library to go back and flesh out what happened immediately in the aftermath of the success of the 13th Black Crusade and the opening of the great rift.

You've literally never even HEARD of a primaris marine on the table have you?
Inceptors are straight up terrible. Oh I love paying a huge wack of points to kill 2 tac marines and then immediately die.
Aggressors don't do anything ever, they're too slow to be useful on their own and the repulsor is a crap option for them. And even when they get there, if they're not shooting conscripts they'll kill maybe 1 guy.
Hellblasters are solid but lascannon devs and lascannon Centurions are more useable in general. There's no reason to bring any of these while the STORMRAVEN exists though.
Vanilla marine captains and librarians are both wildly superior to primaris by grace of being able to take jumppacks. +1 W +1A means nothing in the face of deepstrikeable mobility.
Apothecaries are actually amazing in plenty of lists and the one place where the Primaris character may edge the vanilla character out.
Not one word of your entire rant about primaris on the tabletop was correct. Not a single word. The rest of your point is irrelevent because you've already proven that facts and reality mean nothing in the face of your agenda.

Or maybe they will just retcon the fluff once the have released Primaris-like models for all the power-armour clad model-ranges. They could easily just change the fluff, so that P-marines were in fact the original kind of super soldiers made by da emprah himself. Then GW could also justify releasing chaos marines and 30k marines with Primaris proportions.

From what I hear, Primaris has sold exceptionally well, so expect more.
I don't really get how people dislike the aesthetic of the regular Mk X armour. Intercessors look fantastic in my opinion. Its just better proportioned power armour really.

I think a lot of people let their dislike of the stupid fluff and the fear of their old models becoming obsolete affect their enjoyment of the new models.
