Hi Dakka

So, for a while I've been trying to pin down a scheme for a maddeningly specific skin tone for my dark eldar (see this thread - https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/688615.page )
So far, I've had little fortune, and am hesitant to put paintbrush to plastic, what with GW minis being a bit of an ordeal to get this far away from Nottingham.

But I was thinking of putting in an order sometime soon-ish, and was having a look about the GW webstore, and noticed Ratskin flesh, Bestigor flesh, Ungor flesh.

Has anyone ever used these on humanoid models, and what does the end result look like?
For those of you who have used it, do you think it would suit for the examples I gave in the above thread for like a rich tanned skin tone?
Thanks!

In the link you provided, I almost always go with what the second response said for my skin colors, but that is simply because I prefer my flesh tones to be dirty or war torn.

My personal way of doing a slightly darker skin tone is:

Base: Bugman's glow
Wash: nuln oil for dark/ dirty skin, or Reikland Fleshshade
Layer/dry brush if I am lazy: cadian fleshtone
Highlight: Cadian fleshtone with white

I've used this combination in different proportions for all my mini's
For example my blood bowl team I used less of the Cadian Fleshtone and let more of the nuln oil washed Bugman's glow show through (dirty players)
Or my high elves I actually completely covered the bugman's base coat with my Cadian fleshtone layer and then washed it with reikland fleshshade and then gave it a simple highlight, to kind of give him a Hollywood complexion.
Or my dark elves I used the above recipe but made extreme highlights with a white mixed with Cadian fleshtone

Unfortunately I can't give any picture reference

After looking at the paints you mentioned, those would probably work but would likely end up with a more chocolate complexion.

There is a free citadel paint app that shows the different paints you should get for different color tones and they have several skin types on the app, at least I have found it helpful when choosing the right shade of orange for my new guys.

Hope this helps

Actually I found some old photos of what I was talking about!

(Sorry for awful camera and light quality)

Hopefully you can see what I mean, especially the blood bowl team has a dark skin tone

Also I think that I used more than one wash of the blood bowl team skin - it doesn't look like I was light handed with it

Thanks for your help, but I'm sorry to say that this isn't really what I'm looking for.

I use bugmans etc for my marines, and I think it's a little too ruddy, and the highlights are a tad too white for what I'm after.
Cheers though!

For my dark elves I use skrag brown as a base, followed by a generous wash of agrax earthshade andthen light them skin with mire skrag and some yriel yellow mixed in.

Maybe it is a tad too "orange" for your likes, but here are some examples of how it works.
