Well, the client didn't request a power fist, But I can ask if he likes the idea, and if he doesn't, I can always make one as an option for anyone else who wants one of the resin casts.

Looking pretty good! I would personally make the mace head a bit smaller, considering that the commissar herself is a lot closer to true scale, so a giant weapon might be a bit awkward looking as opposed to 40k where the scale is so hosed up it is hard to tell. Then again, as you said you can have all sorts of different bits for it.
Another cool option might be for a cybernetic arm.
The centaur lower is looking pretty sharp too! Getting exciting I posted some more pics to the share too along those lines.
As to Commissar 1, I should be off my ass sometime today and will hopefully have a successful mold made by Wednesday, and with luck will have the first 4-5 done and ready to mail by Friday or Saturday. Yay

Great news! Looking forward to it Wehrkind!
Yeah, the mace is a bit big I admit. I'll see if I can do anything about it. Maybe if the mace "fins" were a bit smaller? Also, cyber arm is a cool idea! Also very easy to just make an "optional" piece too! I might even just make a different smaller mace all together, as I could see this one fitting a space marine scale! It might even look good for a Night Lords Champion or something, if I made the "wings" a bit more bat-like. I might just make a staff like that for Miss Dee's Navigator! If she likes it that is.
Anyway, I have the day off, so I am getting a bit done sculpting wise here and there in between all the chores on my honey-do list.

Not 100% on the pose/size of mace on the latest one but altogether i am very impressed. This blog was (is ) a good read and seeing you(if you dont mind me saying) greatly improve your sculpting ability over the course of the blog is very inspirational. Now i believe you mentioned horses (haven't quite finished reading) when are we gonna see those? I Am very interested to see how you do. Mainly because i am a bit of a prude when it comes to miniatures lol, all these corsets deary me

@ Bob - Yes I will do a side-by-side-by-side shot of the commissars when I get to that stage.
@ Perkustin - Yeah, I'll be re-working the mace. I like the look, but it's on the "big" side of heroic scale. As for the pose of the mace, that was dictated by the client. However, even if then, the arms will be somewhat posable, and the mace should be able to swap ends for a raised "attack" pose.
I do also feel that I have improved my sculpting skill! I was a complete novice at sculpting when I jumped into this project! And after all this hard work, I feel that I am no longer complete. I still wouldn't consider myself an expert by any means, but it's a long road, and I have traveled far. (Does anyone else hear inspirational music in the background? No? Just me? Humph.)
Horses? Well, sort of. Just the horse bodies actually, for a set of Centaurs I've been commissioned to make. They are coming along, but slowly...I have been distraced lately, but I am getting some done on the centaurs and the last commissar a bit at a time, and they are shaping up.
Update wise: I have the arms of commissar #3 filled out, and have started on the coat. I'll wait untill I have her a bit farther along before I post more pics. Unless you want to see all the awkward stages along the way....but they are pretty boring.
Thanks guys for your comments! You keep me going when all I want to do is sit in front of the TV with a bag of chips and watch "Dr. Who",
Cheers!
RSJake Automatically Appended Next Post: Due to questions as to the "posability" of the resin the minis are made of, specifically the blanks, I experimented today at lunch.
First are pictures of how the blank came to me:
Next are the pictures after soaking in hot water (not boiling) for about 15 seconds and then re-possitioning the mini:
Notice I was even able to bend the torso to a more hunched over look. Like she is walking with a heavy load, or looking at the ground for whatever reason.
Also, just to see, I let the mini soak in the water for about 30 seconds, and it went back to the origianl "memory" position.
I have read online that if you stick it in the freezer for a while after you shape it, it will "lock in" the new shape as it's memory shape. I did not have enough time to try that, but I will experiment further when I have more time.

@ JB - You bet! I need to get to reading it! See if I am doing things drastically wrong! Besides, the wife would like to see me using the one gift I actually asked for...
@ tarnish - Thank you! I feel that Gray Stuff is easier to get to do what you want it to... Some people have amazing sucess with Green, I like Gray better...it's a prefference call. I have a bit of everything! Green (I got the ribbon where both sides are touching and the center bit has to be cut out, and I don't like that. Next time I get some, and I will get some, I'll go for the separate tubes), Gray, of course, and brown (I'm not happy with Brown Stuff, it does cure harder than Green or Gray, but it doesn't sand well, and is very difficult to work with before it cures.)
@ Miss Dee - Well, not everyone has one like that, but some of the anatomy models in my research had them, and I went with it. It has to do with the shape of the pubic bone, I believe. I never did well in anatomy class...I was too busy studying live anatomy.
@ El Vic - It does appear to be magic! I can understand the bending when heated, but for it to snap back when heated again is something to see!

Ok, two side issues for you lads:
1: dsteingass: Just started reading your blog. My scrambled eggs are now a little over browned, and I haven't gotten ANYTHING done with Jake's commissar mold yet today. So totally blame him when my turn around is >1 week
2: Would you riveting lads (see what I did there?) be interested in cast rivets? I had previously thought that I could cast up little strips of styrene with rivets of various sizes attached that could then be scrapped off with a hobby knife. Think of the rivet columns on the Cities of Death sprue for instance (scrapping them off there for a tank mod is what gave me the idea.) Now, I suck at the riveting, so I never bothered to do it for myself, but would that be useful for you guys? Or is just slicing up tiny bits of rod easier?

Which blog? HAHAH Jake will understand, no worries
Personally, when I scrape rivets, I lose them, so for my purposes, i prefer to slice them fresh per use (like garlic). However, I would love to have 1mm x2mm strips with a double pattern of rivets on them every 2-4mm. Having tons of that detail stock around would save me lodas of time.
