Miss Dee, If a guy says something that can be taken 2 ways...and one of them pisses you off, we meant the other one!

It's like greeting a group of people and saying "Hi Guys!" We're not just talking to the men, we mean everyone!

Rivet strips? Hmmmmm. Yeah, I'm sure Dave could use the strips in construction, but scraping them off of a strip might be unnecessary work. It would awesome if you could cast itty bitty little rivets by themselves, but cutting them from a styrene rod really isn't that terrible...it's the glueing each one on, one at a time that is tiring. But you never know...there my be a demand for rivet strips!

Yes. Womyn don't rivet.

j/k

If I ever get to mold making this week, I will see if I can whip one up too. Always seemed like a good idea.

Commissar is on her sprue, sans scabbard and some of the backing that was over the coat. Pics if they don't take me all night, like making this sprue and burning my ham stock did :(

Automatically Appended Next Post:
hmmm I wonder if I could make a CHAIN of rivets, each one connected to the one next to it. Then you could just cut between them, and have nice little curved rivets.

I just got a shot of pain through my skull, either because my brain is screaming at the idea of first making 10-20 little tiny rivets, and then gluing them end to end, or because Miss Dee just read my last post and is trying to kill me with her brain.

personally i had this idea... make small plates and rivet them up... for muliple uses... long ones small ones... in every shade possible... well next to every...^^

that was my casting idea...well...no that it is out of the sack...

at miss dee... with you english speaking natives... try to live with the german second sex in the language... and then have something like emancipation happen to your written stuff... it is most crippling... and for thousands of years all life would call humans men... only recently the females beneath (hurhurhur) the men have been discovered...

Ok, blurry pic of the lass on her strange looking sprue. Not sure if heads up is the best way to do it, but it does mean I get to lift her coat bits out of the mold, instead of peeling them out, and that big flat hat top is too tempting a main pour spot to pass up

*L* Yea... the girl has angles. In all different directions I think it should be ok though, just not the easiest mold to deal with. Should work though.

If folks are truly looking for rivet plates, I'll make some masters up. What sizes would be best?

no just straight, 1 or 2mm thick, but double rivet pattern, like on the GW CoD strips (just not as thick)

No updates. Sorry. Soon I hope.

I just wanted to post that I am selling the original Female Commissar that kicked off this blog.

I am most likely not going to start a Traitor Guard Army any time soon...if ever. And maybe she can be put to better use with someone who could use her.
There is a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.
Here is the ebay link in case anyone is interested:

I know I have her priced pretty high, but she was my first. You are always going to have a special connection with your first. And I just can't let her go for peanuts. And if she doesn't sell, at least I can say I tried.

Thanks man.

Hey! I drew up some designs for steampunk las-rifles, I may have taken them home, I'll take a picture of the drawing and see what you think. They are based off of the 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle and Carbine.

I think they might be doable! Just add some cogs, and unnecessary wires, and a las-rifle tip thingy, and presto!

Don't forget the power pack!

Hell, I am tempted to bid myself, but eBay apparently doesn't accept "resin" as a unit of exchange. Blinkered fools!

@ FantasyBob - Thanks! She does have a special place for me, but I have copious amounts of pictures to remember her by!

@ M0rdain - Thank you, she actually already has a bid on her! So, yes, more madness in my future! Woo Hoo!

@ El Vic - I thought they would be a good base for las rifles too, I designed a basic rifle and a sniper rifle based on the photo above, a pistol based on a flintlock, and a shotgun based off of my Drilling. Here is my sketch:

I rather like the long las up top there. If I might make a suggestion, have you considered late 1800's rifles, like the lever action Winchester, or even Martini Henry?

For me, nothing says SteamPunk like brass and British Empire. For some reason I always imagine America post Civil War, but Europe just after Napoleon. I guess I fixate a little more on the industrial revolution era, and just have a bit of a void in my knowledge of Europe after Ol' Nap's exile.

I was actually thinking of adding a lever on the shotgun! I'll print out all of these guns and keep them in front of me when I get around to making them, I may pull a bit from all of them.

Yeah, everything before 1985 is a bit fuzzy for me...everything after that too, come to think of it.
