the sketches are top notch mate... very arty!

i for one love the first one too...but that is just me...a sniper by heart^^
your designs have covered nearly all weapons already...now only flamer, melta and plasma are needed! if these could be build acording to your sketches i think this could bring you a fortune! and no mistake!

on a related note...
may i draw your attention to these weapons...

they are called airguns or in german "windbüchsen" which means that they are actually steampowered...

tho the designs vary in so many ways...some have in their stocks a condensed iarsuply and when released propells the bullet...others have a sort magazin under the barrel...

I have also been working on designs for Plasma guns and Flamers...they are not coming along as well as the others.

With that design Vic, I could see some sort of hose coming from a backpack to the place where the ball is, and could be a good start on a flamer!

@ Wehrkind - Yes! that's a great idea! Although, I can draw designs at work...I don't think me sculpting at work would go over so well.

If you want to call my daughter and tell her to stop waking up in the middle of the night, then I could get some sleep, and be able to get some sculpting done.

But yes, I know I know, I need to get some sculpting done. Make me feel bad about it. Sheesh!

Yeah Vik, that is the premise of the anime film "Steamboy" - they figured out a new way to compress very dense steam in those cannon-ball looking things!

I think you should be able to watch that movie online for free at Crackle

Just a few commercials to sit through.

somehow the link dind´t work as intended... but that movie is still on my to view list...

actually the airgun on this schematics is around 400 to 500 years old... those weapons actually were used as hunting rifles... even some i have seen with a sort of pump to get it reloaded in the field...there is little that some guy hasn´t tried before...strange isn´t it...

at jake... if you want some hints or any advice to get the lil sunshine to sleep through the night...just make da call... went through this for over a year and then we discovered this:

http://www.annawahlgren.com/index.php/view/english/a-cheat-sheet

if you are desperate you can try it... and guess what it works...you can have me for the testimony...we went through all...and our son woke up during the night every 1.5 hour...so you can imagine how desperate we were...

I'll give it a read Vic, but as I scanned it quickly, it's for younger Kinder. The one I'm having trouble with is about to turn 3 years old. It's a battle to get her to bed, and any excuse to wake us up at night she takes it. She is toilet trained, and is very good at it, but she "NEEDS" one of us to be there with or she won't go...so she has to wake us up. Or the cat wakes her up. And instead of yelling at the cat, and closing her door...which she is capable of doing, she screams and runs into our room and slams OUR door! It doesn't make any sense. I try to reason with the child but my wife says she's too young to understand.

I think if she's old enough to push our buttons the way she does, she's old enough to understand why Daddy gets mad when she does it! If she's just like her mother now, what is she going to be like in 12 years? I may have to move out, just get some rest! [/rant]

Sorry for the thread derailment into reality...let get back to 40k!

it is all about fear... kids that age have a really existentially fear... in the book...the link is about a book and a sleep cure...you can train them to be and feel comfy in bed...even when it is 1 am and she thinks hell is breaking loose...during those times when she is "pushing" your buttons...she is merely asking for help in the way she knows...getting your attention to show her the way...this book offers a new way for her and even better for you... it is a hassle but lets face it it is a hassle now anyways... after we went through it it was like loosing a big stone wieght from our shoulders... now it is such fun to watch that lil angel grunting in his sleep...i got two very creative kids at home...and from where i stand i see that creative kids have a more unsteady sleep pattern... both of our kids are very hard dreamers...and sometimes they even wake up from there dreams... the essential lesson from this methode is to transport the message to the kid that the bed is the best place to be...thus not taking her places or sing her soothing song on your arm...the message you are se4nding then is that you are rescuing her from that awful bed...you can sooth her and let her stay in bed... it is rather astonishing how kids are able to read between the lines... and if you change some of your behaviorisms you will see that she has to cope with totally new concepts...

by the way... i try to become a nursery nurse... so you can take my musings here with a pinch of salt AND butter^^

Wow, from that line I was expecting a REALLY different bit of advice. Like "From the Dark Eldar Book of Baby Farming" different

Good advice though. I was (and sometimes still am) the kid with the imagination that could conjure horrors out of every sound and half imagined shadow in the room. To this day I still sleep better in my folk's house, due largely to not being the ranking adult. Of course that only lasts till like 6 am when they wake up and start watching TV at ear splitting levels...

well we are all at our weakest when the lights are off... kids fear the so called "wolves" acording to the books...it is an inbuilt fear we inherited from millenias ago... something that brought us to sleep in caves and trees... but we still feared the dark...so kids when they suddlenly wake up have no sense as to where they are...=existential fear... this all sounds pretty cruel...but the lesson we have to learn as parents...do everything for the kids that they feel safe... one thing that is rather fun and easy to achieve is to get the kid laughing to bed... make her squirm in giggles...tickle and such things... a person that laughs before going to sleep gets way easier and with a lighter heart to sleep...

true story bro^^

Laughing is good for the soul at any age, but great point about laughing before sleep!

Ahhh 40k and parenting advice, truly the perfect blog

We use the hairdryer on cold setting for white noise to settle my 16month old son, and have done since he was a few months old. Its a little odd we we stay away and take the hair dryer with us lol. But it works so im not complaining (also in the cold weather you can turn it to warm to bring life into your little cold toes while waiting for him to settle )

Yep, good stuff in this thread! I am already using the "making her laugh before bedtime" method! Working great! We just have a "tickle-fest" and she drops right off and stays asleep all night! *knocks on wood*

Thanks for that tip guys!

And Mordain, we have been using a white noise machine for our oldest, it's on all night. We sleep with a loud fan, and the youngest is still in our room with us, in her crib, so she has that noise too. I can't sleep without that fan noise, so it's standard in our house!

As for updates...pretty pathetic update, but I do have something to show. I have been working on the Commissar, but most things I do, I'm not happy with, so I take it off...You just don't get progress like that, but I want to be happy with it.

But the Centaurs are getting some progress! I have started on the second horse body, it's going to be larger, I don't have pics yet, I'll get some when it's a bit farther along. And the first body is just about done, need some more work on the rear legs and the torso, but it's coming along...again, no pics yet... But I do have a pic of the male human torso part of the centaur!

It's currently on Cadian legs, so I can hold onto it, but it won't be on there for long. I still need to work on the lower abs, the shoulders and the back, but it's coming along. It's a start at least.

Wow! I bet you could sculpt those legs into some shapely female hips if you wanted to. Maybe the boots need to be smaller though.

Oh! That will get filled out soon enough! And the torso won't be staying on those legs, they are just for support.

Although, I might try to make them so they CAN be used with Cadian legs...Hmmmmm.

You know that "Kshsshshshhhsshhshhhs" sound you get when a Fahrnseher isn't on a proper station? That's White Noise. Or See waves, or the breeze in Baumen(pl?). It's any noise that's fairly constant, and has no meaning or pattern to it.

White noise is a type of noise that is produced by combining sounds of all different frequencies together. If you took all of the imaginable tones that a human can hear
and combined them together, you would have white noise.
The adjective "white" is used to describe this type of noise because of the way white light works. White light is light that is made up of all of the different colors (frequencies) of light combined together (a prism or a rainbow
separates white light back ito its component colors). In the same way, white noise is a combination of all of the different frequencies of sound. You can think of white noise as 20,000 tones all playing at the same tim

yes, complete silence actually disturbs me, especially whil I am working. Though I don't need a fan to sleep, I know people who do. My old house makes enough noise on it's own creaking and settling at night. We have White Noise broadcast in our office too. When it was broken, you could really tell.
