It is! I've been trying around with how I will be using it and I will probably be getting a dreadnought drop pod for him. Especially since it's an assault vehicle, you don't have to open up the doors when it lands and it gains shrouded for the first turn. As for the melta lance it is awesome, heavy 3 but only with a 19 inch range.

Hence the need for drop pod. Get in and vapourize some heavy armour

Thanks Thraxas! Yeah they are not sadly, but if I am getting a cover save from it when it drops in I want it to be the big beefy one not the tiny normal gw one

4 melta gun shots and then a siege drill for some anti armor goodness

So it turns out that veteran dakka member Kronk actually lives only about an hour and a half away from me, so we decided to meet up and throw down some HH goodness. It was a 2k game with my ravens against his IF templars. It was a great game with some tough fought battles. Not much actually died (I think I only had 3 wiped out units a contemptor a rhino and laser rapier and kronk just lost a rhino)

My army

Kronk's army

Post infiltration table set up

templar bretheran failing a 4 inch charge (I can't laugh too much my dark furies failed a 7 inch charge a turn later)

They made it in this time

Sgt fight, can you guess who won?

Dark furies finally make it in, only to be shot up and only kill two templars

My mor deythan got tar pitted by that mortis dread the entire game, and the fire raptor did not live up to its points

It was a really fun game and its nice to play against fluffy lists instead of min maxed 40k lists

So it finally happened, after being crushed by the launch of AoS I lost all interest in the warhammer fantasy side of things. I just missed the mass ranks of skeletons and zombies really, but with the new ironjawz models and the fact that a new gw system will be coming out including points it got me interested again. So I decided to pick up a megaboss, some brutes, and a battletome to start my army.

Now the general theme of the army will be the skybasha clan with very dark iron armor and they will be based much like the dead marsh from LotR. So lots of knee and ankle deep water with armor bits and dead bodies near the surface. Here are some pictures I will be using to help me along with the basing

As for the army itself I have already built the megaboss and the first 5 brutes with dual choppas and a gore choppa

I plan on picking up one more unit this wednesday so I can start playing some small games (I won't be painting these guys until I am done with my 30k raven guard or dark mechanicus so I should be starting late summer and picking up when I come home from college). So far I am torn between the gore gruntas and a unit of 'ardboys. I am thinking the 'ardboys because it will give me more bodies and the models are pretty cool.

Yeah, I recommend the 'Ardboyz, small units are far more useable in AoS than WFB but you still need some beefy units to occupy space, take and dish out a load of hits and free up your elite stuff to crack the heads they want to be cracking, rather than the sacrifices your opponent throws them.

Seeing your inspiration, and taking into account the fact that AoS really does allow you to mix and match armies, how about.... Undead Orcs? It would be a totally unique army, there's some great scope for conversion, and in terms of gameplay it gives you a lot of options. In one game that's a shaman and some Ard Boys, in the next it's a counts-as Necromancer pulling up some orky Grave Guard ect. That, and Maw Krusha+Zombie Dragon= Totally Fething Awesome conversion potential!

Skybasha scheme looks like a good, solid greenskin paint scheme. Plus the red makes em look ard as well as make em fasta!

Yeah that is what my thought was, plus upon reading the rules for the ardboyz they got some good stuff. As for the undead orks it is a good idea, I just don't know if I want to do it since my last army already was a undead one. But it is a good idea and I will keep it in my back pocket in case I get the gumption to try it

Also, still can't get over how huge that Megaboss is. Seriously badass. The Brutes are pretty awesome too. That 2handed choppa is sweet.

Cool battle pics.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the AoS Orks.

Any chance we can get some pics of the magnet contact point on the Leviathan? What size magnets did you use in the end?

It is a pretty sweet weapon rule wise too, 4 to hit 3 to wound 3 attacks and it does d3 wounds per to wound hit. As for the megaboss he is about the size if not a tiny bit bigger than a box dread

Yeah for the arms I glued in the shoulder joints and then the elbow joint. After that the "wrist" joint stays with the weapons and I use 4x2mm neo magnets to hold them together as they have around 2 pounds of pull force (also please forgive my nails its a bad habit from waterpolo I have yet to break)

Then for the accessory weapons I used 1/16" x 1/32" magnets. For the nipple guns just one works fine and for the phosporex launcher I used two.

Here for the Orruks!

I love the suggestion of the Undead Theme...perhaps you should do their armor in a bone color instead?

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Maybe paint up a squad of 'ardboyz since everyone likes the idea a lot. Especially since 'ardboys aren't part of the clan per se.

Well finals are finally over and with the I enter the summer for the first time in a bit where I do not need to take a class over the summer. So I will be dedicating more time to actually completing an army or two . First up on the docket is finishing my 30k raven guard and after that finishing up my 1500 points of dark mechanicus. After that if I have time I will start on my Armies on parade board for the dark mechanicus and get some paint on my ironjawz.

And speaking of ironjawz I just completed 15 'ardboyz (with drum and banner of course) and a warchanter. The 'ardboyz are not that fun to put together and it is easy to tell because the sprue was made in 2006, it really makes your appreciate how far GW has come in actually designing these models.

Yeah and how difficult they were to rank up

Well I did it guys and girls. I finally finished this semester up and the grades are starting to roll in (so far 3 out of 4 classes with 3 As). Because of finals I haven't got much done besides some build and tonight I built some gore gruntas! I decided on these guys after playing my first AoS game at my local gw today (it was a good game I got foot of gork off twice almost killing a fyreslayer and almost destroying half of a beserker squad) but it made me realize I needed some speed in the army and these guys do just that. I still haven't really mould lined them yet and I still haven't made their bases but the general build is complete

I just barely escaped my LGS the other day without the Megaboss...I did pick up the Weirdnob though Now I'm tempted by Gore Gruntas!

The weirdnob is great! His spells are pretty solid and if he is near a lot of models he casts easier so to get a casting value 10 if he is near 20 orruk models he would only need an 8 to get the spell off.

Hey all hope everyone had a good weekend! I ended up graduating on friday and got straight As for my last semester, so this coming fall I will be going to another university (so my production will drop off quite a bit). In the mean time I didn't get a whole lot done today but in preparation for my dark mechanicus war convocation being used for the first time this thursday I have to kick everything into high gear and complete building all of the models. Today I got the ruststalkers built, sadly they do not lend themselves well to chaos converting but I figure some free hand will make them more chaosy. Up next will be the rangers vanguards and kataphrons!

By the way, they can TOTALLY be converted to Chaos. I have some where I switched out their weapons for Dark Eldar weapons. Then just add spikes and skulls

First off, congratulations on the graduation and As!

As for the Ruststalkers, I can't wait to see them, I'd say the easiest way to Chaos them up is to make all the metals all grimy and cover then in the remains of the Imperial victims they've just disembowelled, ie a healthy splattering of Blood For The Blood God!

Yeah they are sick models! Thanks for the heads up on the fiddly parts though, I plan on getting finished with these guys (starting at least this july) as I want to have a solid week or two during the summer to work on the armies on parade board for them.

Thanks para! Those are some good points, I was planning on using a lot of blood splatter since they are cqc guys but the grimy metals is a good idea!

Alright so after a marathon of building I got one ranger squad (with two sniper rifles), one vanguard squad (with two plasma culverns and one arc rifle) and one infiltrator squad (stubber pistols) built plus partially two kataphron squads. This was all in preparation for my first game with the dark mechanicus war convocation. I gotta say it was tough, the formation is pretty but I will always let my opponent know that I am running it and give them the chance to back out no worries. But flipping between three codexes and remembering all of the different cantacles and bonuses can be quite a jumble. I will probably try and do something about that and print cards to review at a flash and what not.

Tomorrow I plan on priming my leviathan and using my airbrush for the first time tomorrow to get the base coat down and prime some white on the shoulders and stripes going up the chest armor.

I ended up playing a buddies harlequins list (I told him before hand and gave him a few days to prepare or back out) and I ended up winning via points and his entire army was out in the open and would be wiped out the next turn

Nasty elves!

Well I got off track again (big surprise ) and I completed the leviathan siege dreadnought sans the volkite nipple guns and the melta lance but those should be easy to complete. It was a nice model and it gave me a chance to try out my airbrush for the first time and I gotta say why have I put off using one for so long? It made the white super smooth on the left shoulder and carapace piece. I can't wait to use it on the rhino and fireraptor soon!
