Whiteshield Conscript Trooper

Hey guys!

I'm starting a blog (for the first time ever) for a little project that I started this year. I've had an idea for some time to make an ANZAC-themed regiment. Specifically, this regiment will be loosely based upon the Rats of Tobruk, of which my great uncle was a member. I thought that this theme worked much better with the guard than as a space marine chapter. Anyhow, this blog will be a place where I develop the regiment's lore, post WIP pictures and maybe you will find it amusing So far the vague backstory I have in my head for these guys is that they were conscripted on Aragung, a planet of red desert and low population density, with viciously venomous wildlife.

The Aragung 9th and 10th infantry, and 11th Armoured regiments were raised in order to assist with holding Cadia. However, the regiments never reached Cadia, instead becoming engaged in multiple warzones along the way. In the course of these battles, the Aragung 10th infantry was almost completely wiped out, and the 9th suffered considerable casualties, leading to the merging of the two regiments. However, in the chaos and confusion upon hearing of the news of the fall of Cadia, and the spreading of the cicatrix maledictum, the aragung regiment found themselves on an unknown world, with no orders. Gathering the remnants of the force, the officers began a long campaign across the stars to return to their homeworld, itself now threatened by the spread of chaos. Assisting desperate imperial commanders, rogue traders and mechanicus forces, the Aragung are able to receive transport for their services, each battle bringing them a small step closer to their homeworld.

The regiment is known for being undisciplined and contemptuous of authority, with a casual attitude to war. The regiment favours mobile hit and run tactics and ambushes. Access to vehicles is provided by the presence of elements of the Aragung 11th armoured. The 11th was not devastated like the infantry, but was instead divided and dispersed among multiple systems, so that only a relatively small element of the regiment has remained with the rest of the Aragung. The regiment, particularly those from the 10th, are highly contemptuous of commissars, due to the high number of their comrades executed for insubordination and questioning of orders. Despite frosty relations with some branches of the imperium, the Aragung enjoy a close relationship with the Adeptus Mechanicus, due to the high iron content of their world, which supplies the needs of several local forge worlds.

These guys also represent my first attempt ever as using weathering powders and painting stubble! So far, due to waiting for more 3rd party heads to arrive, I have (semi) completed 7 guardsman and a mortar team. These guys are all very shiny, as I have lost my matt varnish spray, and until I find it they will remain glossy, and I have not decorated the bases at the stage. They are mostly done though!

I realise now how poor these images are! When the models are finished for the next update I will try to take clearer images

Hello and greetings from up North here in Canada - land!

These are just fantastic, i read a lot about the Sino - Japanese War from 1931 on and how it should be considered the start of the Second World War as Commonwealth troops were embroiled in desparate pitched battles set in hot, humid, stinky mosquito and leech infested swamps against a foe who played dead, set traps, and killed wounded and tortured prisoners.

Keep up the great work!

Also a helpful tip to clearer photos is to use a piece of paper as a background

I made myself a half-assed home-made Lightbox to take better photos, you can Google it!
