Just curious how much of the collective aspects of the hobby everyone is into here.

I was originally only a Space Hulk player who also loved the minis, but had a passing interest in the lore. My love for the lore grew over the years, and as of 8th edition, I'm pretty much addicted to all 3 phases of the hobby.

Do you participate in every aspect? Only specific aspects?

I most enjoy kitbashing/converting.

The regular 40k game is much better then 7th but still kind of crap. When I play I try to play a modified version of the game as much as possible. it's much more enjoyable.

Painting can be fun but it's what I enjoy least.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I think you should add a bit for fanmade faction lore. Some people enjoy writing that stuff.

I do 3 but I really don't like painting.

Building/converting is my favourite part of the hobby, followed by lore and by playing.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

All three but painting is the lowest of the three. Mainly because I'm not very good at it.

40k: Space Marines (Rift Wardens) - 8050pts.
T9A: Vampire Covenants 2060pts.

One of the reasons 40k is so successful is because how balanced and well done all three aspects of the game are.

There are haters for each one, but generally, as this poll indicates, people participate in all three aspects of the game very heavily.

I voted all three because I enjoy all three aspects mentioned.

However for us isolated in the sticks types, how about a 'just dakka' button! Lol!

For me it’s playing and miniatures.
I’m building Harlies atm doing it against the trend as usual.
In terms of playing I’m waiting for the Necron codex.

Voted "all three", but I'm outside of the scope a bit... I like converting and playing, recently started painting again and enjoy all that, but I play heavily modified game and I acknowledge only "encyclopedia background". By that I mean that I like the general idea of the universe/setting and overall backstory to (some) factions, but I realy, realy struggle to see any reason to actually read books/stories or follow "official narrative". It is usually horrible writing and instead of adding substance and immersion, it just ridicules a lot of great ideas and strips the setting of mystery and truely grim feeling...

I put playing only as I’ve stopped collecting and painting for now, but I do have several painted armies. I wish I could get into the primaris but they just don’t do it for me, and the two armies that just might get me buying and painting again need some serious love for their ranges first.

Not sure if I should have put miniatures and painting though.

I had to vote for minis and lore, as while I have been in this hobby for 20 years, I never get to play, only dream.

Voted for all three but haven't been able to play competitive since Christmas.
Left my stuff in the back of my car under the Australian sun and the back window turned magnifying glass, melted all my tanks, a few Dreads and a bit of infantry.
Happily my favourite part of 40k is kit-bashing so I'll have it ready in a while.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

I don't buy as many of the books as I like, but I do have Youtube and I'm a fan of audiobooks and audio dramas.

I 'paint' but I'm not good. Usually, I paint -most- of my army and a friend helps me improve them significantly.

I play the game, at least two games a week. I play 40k, Shadow War, and AoS (lesser degree).

I like the models and love putting them together, but endure painting them. I'd be fine with getting them pre-assembled and pre-painted, but it's too much money to do that.

I'd like to play, but set up and tear-down take too long, and the rules are kinda meh.

I enjoy reading the fiction in the codexes and main rulebooks and would watch 40k movies, but have no interest in reading the novels.

It never ends well

From what I gather people like us are sprinkled sparcely all over the world, so perhaps you'll find someone closer One thing for sure - my wife would be quite jealous of your Tyranid conversions On a more serious note - what deepens this scarcisity even more is that we often go very separate ways when it comes to actual modifications of the rules and it works only if people know eachother before deviating from official game so they "journey" together. This was very visible even here on dakka during 7th in all those "7th ed rewrite" proposed rules threads and now with all those people who refuse to switch to 8th for various reasons and stick to 7th or switch further back to 5th or 2nd..
