1-4 - table of contents, fluff blurbs, what's the book about
5 - special character
6-8 - Orlock fluff and art
9-11 - orlock gang list
12-19 - hangers-on and bounty hunters
20-29 - new zone mortalis tiles
30-31 - "all" weapon statlines (missing brute cleaver, spud-jacker, maybe others)
33 - 40 - reprinting all the wargear rules (Fear, Entangle and Melta are all in), 3 more special characters
41 - 45 - reprinting all the skills, 1 more special character
46-47 - campaign rules quick reference (injury, advancement, scanario, skill tables, pre-battle and post-battle sequence)
48 & inner cover - reprint of all hanger-on, bounty hunter and special character profiles

And zero new scanarios!

All in all, we get: 3 pages of Orlocks, 13 pages of other new fighters, 10 pages of terrain and half a page's worth of new weapons and previously missing abilities. All the mistakes are still there, Mighty Leap stull non-functional, Toxin and Chem-Synth still terrible.

So 29.5 pages of new content in a 48 page book, and let's be generous and add the 2 pages of campaign reference since they're actually really handy and right at the end of the book so you don't have to flip pages for every little thing. 1/3 of the book is reprints of stuff from the other two books, without fixes and still missing some stuff. And all that's with the same sparse layout of the previous volumes that's at least 25% white space. It's especially bad in the tiles section, with several pages being literally half blank part from the washed-out background. All in all, you're getting about 23 pages of new content (counting art) for your £17.50.

Sad - maybe we need to leave a little feedback on gw fb pages to hammer home what a great game necromunda is and what a gak job they are doing with the books.

Ah, the first new facepalm of GW2.

The malfunctioning generatorium tile inflicts hits with the Shock trait. Too bad the Shock trait's ability triggers on to hit rolls.

One step forward, one step back.

GW2 introduces a new weapon trait on the Chainsword in the armoury reference, Rending.

Anyone wanna guess what Rending does? It's not in the book, or any previous book.

Mind you, this is less of an issue than you would think, because the only Chainsword you can actually access in GW2 is on Gor Half-horn, and his does NOT have Rending.

Rending only appears on this esoteric idea of the perfect Chainsword that is only in the reference sheets but nobody can actually buy.

The reference sheet also has the Perfect Plasma Cannon, which does not overheat in either fire mode, but you also have no way of obtaining one.

Really disappointing to hear this. They have zero fething excuse for the mistakes given the piecemeal release of the rules. I've been skirting around the periphery of the game for months, waiting till this release (orlock models look amazing) but it's honestly unacceptable the level of error that hasn't been addressed. It's also very confusing for people trying to size up the game and get an idea of what it will truly cost to get into it. Hard to value one's patience for GW's lack of quality assurance on the rules front.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Someone else also pointed out that Orlock Gangers don't have any access to Special Weapons whatsoever (while Eschers and Goliaths start with 1 and are unlimited later)

Hopefully the upcoming FAQ takes into account these little things, i'm pretty sure it will hence why it is only coming out 'soon' and not out already.

Also there's no update to the Trading Post, so armour still cannot be obtained by anyone and (unless I'm mistaken?) no armour types yet have point values.

This was literally the one reason I bought the book - I expected armour to have been sorted out.

The only value the book now has to me is explaining the Delta-7 tiles and explaining the Hanger-Ons (because everyone likes converting fun extra characters to support the gang).

If gw sold cars, people wouldn't even be able to drive'm off the lot lol. The lack of armour rules, man, if that's in an faq, it's both positive development and incredibly embarrassing. Well, I guess one would have to be capable of shame first to experience embarrassment :p

The hangers-on sound interesting.

Yes I noticed that earlier this week. I would expect the same to be applied to all gangs in the future (including Escher and Goliath), since having plasma spam or what ever is just lame and really breaks the spirit of the game. Even in a Space Marine squad where all have bolters, only a single dude can choose a 'special' weapon. If all gangers can have it, it's nothing special about it. But as someone else pointed out, there may be a different reason why Orlock gangers can't have special weapons: there's no model for it... or they just made another silly mistake.

As someone who used to play the original game in stores (during the 1990s UK-wide tournament, where you had to do your post-game rolls and activities with a member of staff present to check you weren't cheating), but haven't for many years, I am really puzzled about what the staff do when someone plays this game in a store. What do they say to customers when it's discovered that so many rules just don't make sense or are missing? Do they apologise? Or make something up?

What do they say when someone playing asks how much Armour costs?

Assuming they let you play it in a store at all(better not have legacy miniatures or any of the FW addon parts or characters, since if you do you're rolling the dice on whether your local manager will exercise their discretion to ban those as they can't be bought in that store to contribute to their targets, and I don't actually think they're required to permit Specialist Games to be played in-stores for more than a couple of months after the initial release anyway), they'll do what they always do - make a half-hearted joke about it and then either A: make an essentially totally random on-the-spot ruling and expect you to follow it, or B: tell you to have a dice-off to decide.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

Shame it would have been super easy to do little expansion to the trading post along side the armoury - never mind - I guess we get that bit if we pay the shipping cost for the fw weapon packs - wooo...

I get your frustration. I'm frustrated, too. And, no way would I, or, should I make excuses. Plus, I know your post is a bit of hyperbole. It's all good. I love hyperbole!

BUT, if anyone is really thinking of not playing the game because of its flaws, that's a flawed idea. Most of these flaws don't affect game play broadly. Meanwhile, the game is fully playable, and hella fun. I wouldn't lose sight of the forest for the trees. This "car" has paint blemishes, and maybe the AC needs freon (or, whatever). And, it is kinda pricey to obtain and maintain. But, the car runs right well. And, is fun to drive.

This kind of stuff is really killing me enthusiasm to buy into the new game - and I say that as someone who played a LOT of the old game. Might end up playing the old game with a simple activation system added and just skip all the new stuff --- just get the models and be happy.

The strange part is adding weapons like Plasma Cannons and whatnot but not telling us how much they cost/their rarity.

"But GW3 will have the biggest trading post ever!!!"

Great. I'm sure future-me loves that. Present-me is stuck with a bunch of weapons I can't purchase.

The omissions from the armoury are also very annoying. As someone who wrote damn-near a dozen armoury sections for various 40K RPG books leaving out key rules is just sloppy.

The annoying part in adding weapons we can't even buy now that is undoubtedly the whole shebang will be reprinted again in GW3. They're gonna sell us the same 20 pages of copy pasted entries every 3 months.

TBH though the game is full of flaws in the rules, for me the biggest issue is still lack of all six Houses on launch. If I was a Delaque player I would unintentionall be depressing sales figures for the game, because I wouldn't be buying it at all until "my" gang was released.

Fair enough to leave Ratskins, Spyers, etc until later; but the main Houses? That would be like re-releasing Blood Bowl without all the main teams....oh, nevermind

So you do have to pay from your own funds to arm a hired gun. This presents a few problems:

1. They're not really hired guns then. They're hired bodies that you have to give weapons to, and then presumably they keep the weapons when they feth off after the next game.
2. Why would you ever pay that much for a single-serve friend when it's just easier (and cheaper) to buy a couple of basic gangers?
3. What purpose do these hired guns even serve? I just can't think of one.

Help me out folks, 'cause this is plain silly.

The answer is that nobody at GW spent even 5 minutes thinking about what they're doing.

At this point I am so glad I was not hired for the specialist games opening last summer because either I'd have died from shame at being part of this circus, died from overwork trying to correct everything by myself or in jail for going on a kill spree in the office.

The problem isn't the price, the problem is the underdog system. Fix that similar to Blood Bowl, and all Bounty Hunter, Hired Scum and Special Character prices work just fine.

How do you figure? The problem is you pay full price for a fighter who only stays for 1 game. What change to the underdog system can fix that?

Interesting question - do they keep the guns or do they remain yours? You purchased them so they should remain in the gang?

It could get better, the question is how many 30$ books later? The stuff forge world previewed looked really awesome, like all the guilds. At least waiting till things get sorted gives time to paint the new necro terrain

I mean, if I had kept all the Necromunda Gangs I sold off roughly two years ago, I would give it a spin since all I would need it the haphazardly written new book. But even than I can tell you now I would probably still be disappointed with the obvious errors in the rules. I can see why nobody at my local store played it after getting their stuff. I never had a chance to ask them why, but they all seemed frustrated with it.
