I pretty much gave up on the Bay series quite time ago, seen most of them, perhaps, in chunks at times.
..this certainly seems to have a different vibe and the more old school designs do appeal.
Brawn was always cooler IMO though.

Yep saw the trailer this afternoon, my six and 2 yr old boys were jumping through the roof when they saw it.
Glad it’s a different director doing it and looks fun so il prob watch it in the cinema, haven’t watched one on big screen for ages. In fact i think the first one was the only one I did watch in the cinema.

Literally the only part of this trailer that interested me was classic Starscream, who has always been my favorite Transformer.

OK, that's a lie. My favorite transformer is actually Swoop. But you don't want to tell people your favorite transformer is Swoop, who is admittedly a weird, and obscure pick. So you go with your second favorite who is much more popular so you don't seem weird.

Found the movies bad enough I wasn't planning on watching this but with the mentions of the OG Starscream had to take a look. Was disappointed by how little we got to see of him so hopefully we'll get a better look later.
Unicron was the best Transformer and totally misunderstood. #notalltransformingplanets

Transformers lost me at Mark Wahlberg, who I just find intensely annoying in everything I've seen him in. So anything that doesn't involve him will be good..
The last Transformers film was utterly incomprehensible. I mean, the others are bad, but they're cogent. They make sense within their own internal logic... almost... (let's forget about Robot Heaven in the second one). But that 5th one... holy gak balls.
The bits in this look better, I will say. A problem I had with the series was that, in a theater I could not tell what was what-too many spinning bits. The bots look simpler and clearer in this.

Hah! Ditto. I think the only time I thought he was semi-decent was in The Departed.

Huh. I actually recognised Starscream. First time I can say that about any of the movies. If they give him his nasally voice back and make him pathetic, I may actually go and see this.
I think it looks decent, and I didn't mind the other movies.. not my favorites but I could watch em once at least and not feel like I needed my 2 hours back.
But for me, transformers isn't transformers without the soft buttery voice of optomus prime.
The lack of Bay involvement can only be a good thing for this movie and the franchise as a whole. I'd have no problem with this being used as a soft reboot and dumping the incoherent mess that has come before.
I’m cautiously optimistic. The trailer looks fun. The action on screen looks clear and easy to see, which is a big improvement.
Not having a voice? Well, to us sad old Grognards, that’s a mild disappointment. But to the main target audience, that’s just Bumblebee.
You know, I hope ths gets favourable reviews. It strikes me as a Superhero Origin Movie type affair, and relatively divorced from the Bay movies, whilst still being part of them.
It’s my hope that the trailer isn’t misleading, and is at least a glimmer of a new direction for the films. Because if it is, and it makes bank, we can look forward to the future Transformers movies following its stead.
So yes. Cautiously optimistic indeed.

I grew up on G1 transformers but the best transformers out there is the aligned continuity which involves the War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron games, Transformers Prime and Robots in Disguise Cartoons.
Transformers Prime cartoon (all on Netflix) is the best Transformers we have ever had BY FAR and the reason Bee doesn't have his voice in that is great. It gets explained by Ratchet that Megatron got a hold of him and tortured him for information on the autobots. When he refused to speak Megatron ripped out his voice box and left him for dead.
He also goes on to explain how he cannot just build him a new voice box like we cannot just build a new long intestine. It's cybertronian biology not actual machinery.
Again, it's great. It's all on netflix. Everyone should watch it.
