Surprised nobody's posted this yet, especially as it's had ads plastered all over Dakka and a lot of other hobby sites for months now.

They tried to kickstarter it a few weeks back at a much higher price range for an incredibly boutique version, but they're trying it again with all plastics instead of resin. Despite Dakka's weird disdain for modern PVC and board game advancements, I think it'll work rather well for this game.

So at its core it's an arena brawler. Small unit selection but more customization options to allow you to tweak your gladiator. Here's what's included in the base pledge that actually manages to slip in under 100.

Spoiler:

While there aren't piles of models, the figures are on the larger side of the scale and all the terrain elements for the board are fully sculpted.

The cheaper pledge doesn't include a physical copy of the full rulebook, which is a shame as they've already preview a good chunk of it and it's pretty nice looking.

There's option for painted pledges as well if that's your thing. The next level up includes the large monster figure on the box cover which I'm fond of.

One thing I'm really liking about this game is the art direction. Check out the page as there's some definite talent behind it.

Plus their alternate add on models are pretty nice looking... almost to the point I'd prefer them over the ones included with the actual game!

Thoughts? It's definitely got its own vibe going on, but to me this seems like the kind of game that should be getting kickstarted in the first place.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

This is partly why the game isn’t not picking up traction

Looks like they scrubbed the original Kickstarter attempt to hide the “No Life Matters” which got them in trouble.

While giving it another look I just saw a creature called a Bloodthirster, wonder if GW will bother with it.

You've partially answered your own question?

The Dakka Dakka non-existent hive mind gestalt continues to cast a wary eye at 'PVC' anything because, for the most part, it still isn't up to 'wargame quality' standards.

CMON is getting closer, but everyone else?

Not so much.

On top of that, Dakka Dakka continues to be more wargame focused vs. boardgame focused.

What do the people over at BGG think?

I received one of their promo boxes, and I was impressed by the value of the items they sent out. Unfortunately, their "no life matters" promotional slogan didn't sit well with my wife, so I only got to keep a couple items.

The miniature they sent was surprisingly tall. The resin was cleanly cast and easy to work with, although it warped during the heat wave. I'll get a scale shot after some water treatment. If you're worried about PVC, these minis are so huge it shouldn't be an issue.

Like Tamburlaine, I also enjoy their art direction. The printed materials have a great sense of fun about them, although some of it might seem in poor taste if you're not onboard. I hope to get some of the add on monsters if I can latch onto another's pledge like a glorious barnacle.

That's a mighty familiar looking Eldar model there.

But yeah, I don't see the production material being an issue here.

Bob, you're welcome to piggyback on my pledge once things get funded.
