and by the way... since you mention NV... i can get the main game for a tenner... but where would i get the expansions? are they for free or do they cost me... and if so how much?... the all in all (kinda game of the year edition would cost me atm 40€s)

We built wooden guns, my friends and I, when we were kids! Great Fun!, although ours were rather..primitive at the time!

how about cutting the barrel in half, making the insides look like bubbling acid with the two conductors hanging out? Or use two small ones, with a cable going to each, then an extra cable acting as conductor between the two?
hmm...would look cool, but it probably needs to look a bit more conventional as in industrialized warfare.
