What do you think is going to happen next in this ongoing campaign?

Story so far- vigilus is a crucial world that is one of the only routes into the imperium nihilus. This makes it extremely important to the imperium, and to any other faction.

-a relatively small genestealer uprising is mostly dealt with by small kill teams of adeptus mechanics.

- this uprising turns into something far, far larger and the world is in desperate need of support. A company of space wolves answer.

-a large waaagh! reaches vigilus, but the orks cannot attack the cities so resort to racing amongst themselves, turning into a huge speedwaaagh!

-the eldar of saim-hann forsee disaster on vigilus, and dispatch a force to destroy the threat. This is mistaken by some imperial soldiers as an attack, and ultramarines arrive as reinforcements.


So, at this point the world is devastated by war. It looks like it could be another Armageddon imo and it is clear the story will be taken further. What do you think is going to happen next, and what new things will come with that?

With the rumors of an upcoming boxset with a shiny new model for Abby himself I expect the next development to be a Black Legion incursion.

It is not a bad shout but I think they will use Vigilus as a plot device to introduce the Emporers Children including Fulgrim. You have Eldar running around, yep Slaanesh likes those soul stones and Ultramarines turning up. If Bob G arrives as well he has prior history with Fulgrim so Fulgrim may come along to finish the job properly this time.

Reminds me a hell of a lot of Dawn of War Dark Crusade where every race dukes it out. A bit silly in my opinion, maybe it would have made more sense to make it a system of planets rather than just one.

I guess the size of the planet should be taken in consideration.

If they're gonna have all these factions there it better be the size of jupiter at least.

But yeah I agree it seems like an Armageddon 2.0, probably cause it's gonna get messed up by Angron

I'd prefer if they at least had it be an entire solar system or multiple systems. There is way to much going on one planet.

The nice thing about a Black Legion incursion is that the whole of Chaos is invited. They could use the setting for both the BL and the EC boxsets. Very convenient from the story writers' perspective.

The planet gets trashed but the Imperium flag flies over the pile of rubble is my expected outcome.

thats a win for the IoM honestly, the world's important due to it's location more then anything else.

It turns out the planet is creating the 'safe' corridor because it's full of buried pylons and Necron tombs. Having seen this, Failbaddon, who supposedly wants to rule material realm without the interference of chaos gods, arrives to dump even more realspace into warp, only to lose yet another irreplaceable superweapon and to have his ass spanked by something even more embarassing than the girl from last time. As he is about to be shanked by Grot or something, blinding flash appears over the planet surface.

Hoping this setting gives the Admech a reason to bust out the good tech. FW robots given 8th edition rules! I just started collecting them so I'm very biased.

Why they didn't do that for Cadia will be difficult to answer.

I get the Armageddon parallels, but its also the new Cadia - the world guards the one stable corridor through the warp between the two halves of the Imperium.

This is what I'm expecting to be honest. Vigilus is really the forgotten ruins of a Blackstone Fortress and the all the fighting from various factions will reveal it attracting Black Legion to the planet - would also tie in nicely with the Warhammer Quest boxed set coming out end of the year too.

I actually like that with the Vigilus fluff there is reason for a lot of different factions to be in the area. Many of their famous warzones are supposed to be one certain group versus another, but because they don't want people to feel left out they poorly throw in reasons why every single other faction is also there.

Vigilus still feels contrived, but a lot less so than many of the other warzones IMO (at least when it comes to why everyone and their space dog is there).

thing is as an important corridor EVERYONE needs Vigilus, with the exception of the Eldar and Necrons (who use the webway) Vigiulus is strategicly critical to just about everyone. and even the necrons and Eldar likely have an intreast in who controls it.

If there is a Blackstone fortress there then both the Eldar and Necrons have plenty of reason to want a piece of the action

Perfect opportunity to redo the chaos bikes and toss in a light vehicle.

I'll take that bet. after the 13th black crusade event GW seems to have learned not to put the fate of their gsetting in the hands of the players. I suspect Vigilis is gonna exist as a long time warzone, and the campaigns will focus on other flashpoints etc. if I was betting I'd bet on it being a fightagainst the emperor's children who wanna start their own real space empire (everyone else is doing it, but Slaanish has been notably absent)

Think it would have made more sense and offered more opportunity if it had been the Vigilus system/sector as opposed to one planet.

This would enable them to get the whole 40k experience into one range of effectively unlimited expendable planets comprised of everything from deathworld to forgeworld and everything between.

Right now i see their only option story-wise as being BATTLE ROYALE on the galaxy's biggest planet
