the keep is a very strange movie that i like despite some problems.

The thing with the keep is it's a good movie that just should have been better but wasn't, somehow.

When you break the movie down into it's elements, every single part was great.

Great idea, great atmosphere, great acting (Jurgen prochnow and ian macellan), great special effects, great cinematography, every thing about it was pretty great, with a few weak points here and there like most movies.

But somehow when you put it all together, it just doesn';t add up to the sum of it's parts.

It's a hard movie to see as there's no dvd apparently due to some legal BS. (Oughtta sue the lawyers involved for denying me my right to get a legal copy...)

I really can't figure out where the movie went wrong except for the kinda rushed, not too well explained ending. I understand the book had a better one., Anyone else here like it if you managed to see it? Despite only being good when it should have been great it is definitely worth watching. The dead nazis alone are worth it, and there are piles f dead nazis in this.

The book and all its sequels are great. The movie is total garbage.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I second Lance. Read the book. Then read the sequels.

PS: why didn't you post this in the bigger, already existing thread?
