Yeah, after so many years of trying to top themselves and the level of danger in previous seasons, I stopped watching years ago. It jumped the shark with the Satan coming back and Sam jumping into the pit with him but I kept slogging on with them for a few more seasons but eventually slowed then stopped watching a few years ago. Everyone that I know that watched stopped before me so I'm surprised it lasted this long. YMMV but my favorite episodes weren't the world/universe level threats but the smaller one offs.

Spoiler alert. They all die in the finale but then are alive again in the last 5 minutes.

Not surprised better shows were cancelled instead, mind, but a 15 year run is confusing barring specific shows like the Simpsons.

It’s like one of their highest rated shows I’ve heard. They keep trying to do a spin off but the spin offs never work so the show just keeps trucking along.

Also Sam jumping into the pit with Satan wasn’t jumping the shark. That was how the story was supposed to end from the beginning. Jumping the shark was him coming back.

Also also I still really like the show and I’ll be bummed when it does finally actually end totes for reals this time.

I’m a big fan of Supernatural.

Yes, it’s daft. Yes, it loses touch. But so has every TTRPG I’ve ever played.

And let’s face it, 15 years is a frankly staggering innings for any show. Even Friends, which had a single joke which wasn’t all that funny in the first place, but still became a cultural juggernaut, only made it to 10 (entirely undeserved) Years.

Here’s hoping The Winchesters end up able to rest easy.

We're a season and a half behind, but planning to catch up. Been slacking on a lot of shows lately, thanks to Netflix. Congrats to them for going for 15 years! Sad to see it go, but it is probably time for the boys to ride off into the sunset. Maybe mom and dad can be ruinited in the finale

Considering your other opinions on things, it does not surprise me that you are confused as to why the highest rated show on a network has escaped cancellation year after year.

But continuing on, the only "cancellation" they really faced was after season 5 when the main arc ended but then they, you know, wrote another.

Yeah, this was a case of the main stars not wanting to continue. The network basically said theyll renew until the main dudes are done. They've both got young kids and likely want to be home more. Sad to see this go but thankful for the fun. They're going to need a new show to put new stuff behind to get started. That' was essentially supernatural's second job outside of it's own ratings.

They have been trying to get a spinoff going for a while now. Maybe this is going to speed it up a bit. I understand the Actors wanting to be done. They put in a ton of work off camera as well as on for the fans.
