lol Vik- They didn't make wooden gun carriages like that for aesthetic reasons, it has functional purposes

Well if we did wouldn't they be more or less just a giant boiler with a warmachine tacked on somewhere? Probably a squadron with a few others to constantly deliver the coal to it.
Viktor von Domm wrote:er... rule of cool anyone...? and...functuality? really are we really still talking steampowered walking warmachines and such things?
Yes, Vik has a point here, although I am not here really and in no way conversing with him

say to LDD... that i would understand his opinion and that i credit him for his insight... but alas he is not with us anymore... poor sod ...i knew him well...
You have to admire LDD's conviction on this matter, though. He is at least sticking to his guns about it.....

Your friends snazy-shorts take me right back to the early 90s, a time when people wore highly flammable shell suits in a range of clashing colours.
Thanks Weety! Yes, sadly I remember the riotous colors too

Yes, I had to abandon the painting process when I realized how late it was- will finish it and hopefully the crew tonight.

Thanks LDD! -Have I ever let you down before? It was just nerd-chat - It's funny, this actually seems to be a design concept that people see and their kneejerk reaction is to initially reject for some reason, perhaps I have finally built something that hasn't been done before??

Thanks Vik! -Quit slacking on the Dakka time I didn't know that sticking a miniature on a peice of paperclip and into a cork was a Yank thing It just helps you hold the mini while painting.

Thanks Jake! -Yeah, those are the trigger handles, I cut them to fit under the gear bitz (both hands actually have cavalry sword brass hilts on them)- Hopefully they will end up looking like ornate detail. He is posed so he will look like he is pushing to swivel the gun, tracking his target while firing.

Dave, please tell me again what it is you do for a living? Cause it seems to me that you have all this time and no work to go to...
Not wanting to go to work doesn't count, mind you......
Amazing. Can you imagine me trying to sit in one go and build and paint a Warhound?
Impossible....

I want to Publicly retract my previous argument against GW's new paint system. I've picked up and used some of them, and I have been reading their new teaching system book, and I am most impressed!
If I were just starting my paint collection/investment, I think buying all new GW paints, and using their system to learn to paint would actually be beneficial, it takes the color-mixing out of the equation, which was always a pain in the balls for me.
The base colors are all very dense pigment, the layer colors have a huge range, there are only a few drybrush colors, highlight colors, the way they should be, and so far, the texture paints I have picked p are all a bit different, they aren't just an expensive sand in paint gimmick like I thought, they are all different texture materials mixed in with LGS and paint.
.>And I believe I am starting to like LGS too!
