How do?
So considering a Nurgle Daemon army. I love the models, contrast ought to make the painting a doddle, and well, who doesn't love Papa Nurgle? I mean, Papa Nurgle loves you!
Not necessarily looking at hyper-competitive stuff, but equally not especially interested in spending money on dead weight.
And that's where you guys come in. What works in such a list, what holds it back, and what needs a bit of finesse. And everything in between, if you please.
Whilst I'm mostly keen on a monotheistic list, I'm not adverse to going polytheistic if it helps things along.
I look forward to your considered responses Great big slobbery Nurgle kisses all round!

3 units of 30 Plagubearers, some Nurgle hearlds with all the buffs equipments and spells behinds, add a tree in there so the hordes have +2 to the total mobility. Then add whatever you like from small Nurgling units camping objective to the DG mortar tanks to Mortarion, or even more evil ally Thousand Sons Psykers in Supreme Comand Detachment. You could crush most of the opponents with this list.

The Contorted Epitome also synergies well wtih the mass-plaguebearers and feculent gnarlmaw: you can charge after fall back, while your opponent struggles to do so.
For mono-codex army I'd try nurgle battalion, slaanesh supreme command or battalion ( can break the locus with 3 squad of nurglings as troops), and a fortification network.
Completely lacks shooting, though.

The Contorted Epitome is a new slaanesh unit, whose main ability is to forbid enemy units within 6" to fall back unless they pass Ld test on 3d6.
Feculent Gnarlmaw fortification from the codex allows your units to charge after fall back, if they are within 7" at the start of the turn.

Oozing Plague Marine Terminator

Everything in Nurgle or DG lists is viable (aside from a Land Raider possibly, but I haven't played it yet), the army is pretty forgiving due to its high resilience. Personally I've found Daemons harder to play than DG, but that might be because I have enough Plague Marines for a DG Horde of shooty Marines, but only about 50 Plaguebearers that usually don't survive that long. But Daemon HQs are strong enough to do work on their own when Plaguebearers are gone.
I'd say just think about the playstyle you want, Nurgle is totally viable on his own, you don't need to stretch the fluff and ally in Tzeentch or nonsense like that.
Edit: so far I wasn't very lucky with Beasts or Horticulous, they're just too slow for their costs. Epidemius really shines if you ally some Obliterators or DG Drones, you effectively have to build a list around him.
Oh, check out heresyminiatures and puppets war for alternative Plaguebearers, you don't want to paint the same models 90 times and it makes the army look much more awesome.
