After about a year of dithering on a colour scheme I have finally decided on what colour to paint my Astra Militarum force, so here is a couple of shots to get started, I am a very slow painter so I don't really make much progress.

Anyhow here is the first chimera in the colour scheme

I'm rather fond of it myself.

Nice start Bschwi1.

Just remember painting a Guard army is never a sprint, it is a marathon. So save those interesting figures for rewards for finishing a squad. I painted mine two figures at a time over the years and you can get there as long as you refuse to give up.

Hope that helps,

CB

Nice work on the weathering. I’m looking forward to seeing the infantry.

Nice start, will it be an infantry or mechanised army?

Thank you for all the replies, very encouraging. I still don't know how to post images properly, if anyone could tell me how that would be great. I've tried to use the image tool, but I couldn't really get it to work.

I've put down the majority of the base colours on some infantry, however I'm not much of a painter/photographer and I don't have light box so sorry for the naff photos.
However I'm determined to do my best and get a painted army as I'm embarrassed at the amount of grey mini's I play with and I think it is better to have a slightly worse painted army than a grey one.

Fyi, the bases are going to be redone, I just need to decide on basing theme...

Bschwi1

PS, I'm not really sure if it will be infantry or mechanised, but my plan is to get two infantry squads, a CC and a chimera painted by the end of the summer holidays

When you want to post in an image go to the image page (the links you have put in) on the right hand side there are a list of tags under the heading "share this image" below the drop down box is one headed "forums". Copy and paste the contents of that box into your post.

Good job. The dirty wash muted the original color, which was a little too bright pink, and gave them some weathering.

Recently I have been accessorising old models and stuff like that, some of these models were painted when I first got into Warhammer about a year ago, and some are some old Orlocks from somewhere. Anyway I don't own any kind of paint stripper and the paint is very thick on these models so my plan is to accessorise them so much that the worst bits are covered up.

Pics

The poxwalkers I found in a cupboard they belong to my dad, he doesn't have any time to paint so I'm just going to paint them for him.
I swapped the head on the sniper as it's old one was terrible, I added a voxcaster, to the half 3rd party guy to hide his back, and I added lasguns to two of the Orlocks, I cut of the powerfist Orlocks other arm as it was glaringly terrible and replaced it with a regimental standard, and finally I cut the arms off the final Orlock and made it into a medic. I rooted round in the old sprues box and found a servoskull, a backpack, a holstered pistol and a pair of binoculars to hide the thickest and worst bits of the old paint job, I'm painting all these changes in the current colour scheme to tie them together with my existing guardsmen so I can use them as stand ins and bullet catchers until Christmas.

Anyway, thank you for reading, Bschwi

I asked the store manager at my local Warhammer store to save me a copy of wings of vengence! So the theme of this thread will probably shift, does anyone know how to change the title of the thread?

Thanks,

Bschwi

Looking at the Chimera, loving the colors. Very WWII Soviet.

What method(s) did you use for the weathering?

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

Hey Bschwi, liking your sniper, it’s always too easy to miss a mould line, and they’re rarely in invisible places!

To edit your title, all you need to do is edit the first post in the blog and change its title. The aeronautica models look great, looking forward to seeing them progress

@cothonian I just used a mix of agrax earthshade and asthonian camoshade, and added bits of typhus corrosion hear and there, I tried to "streak " the shades so they were mixed but there was some variation on the panelling!

@gobert thank you very much! I will edit it when I've painted some planes!

Thanks
Bschwi
