So Sentinels are squads of vehicles who don't have the rule about operating independently as far as I can see.

So....

What is their squad coherency?

When the unit is shot can I choose which model is damaged first and then as with any other multiwound squad further damage goes onto him until he is dead?

The work exactly the same as a regular infantry squad. They must maintain 2" coherency and you have to allocate damage to wounded models first.

They can also run away due to morale

Agreed with above. They use same coherency as any other unit. Once a model has taken damage you must apply further unsaved wounds to that model until it is destroyed.

If you have the option, run them as multiple units of individual models. That way, the opponent has to potentially waste "overkill" damage when they fire at a single model.

Plus, if you add a cheap HQ, you can turn three Sentinels into a detachment, gaining an extra command point in the process.

The context is a London 500 point tourney where you can have a limited 'combat patrol' detachment. This doesn't have any HQs and a 0-1 choice for elites, fast attack and heavy support, 1-3 troops and 1 extra of any category.

Be prepared to keep 2CP handy in case they somehow take a morale test I guess.

Well I suppose 1 CP for a 1d3 roll?

Regarding that a question: if I have 3 Sentinels in a squad and only und of them uses its smoke launchers, what exactly happens with their save if something fires at the unit? Can I use the better save, even thought 2/3 of the unit have not smoked?

After an attack wounds(but before damage), you as owning player picks the model that is wounded by the attack(picking a model already damaged if there is one) and use the models save, including any moddifer the model has. So it depends on what model you pick/can pick

You dont get a better save. Smoke is -1 to hit for your opponents weapons.

From Codex Astra Militarum (emphasis added):

Once per game, instead of shooting any weapons in the Shooting phase, this unit can use its smoke launchers...

Smoke Launchers are used on a per unit basis, not per model.
