Ok, as I'm still waiting on orders, my head is thinking of projects to do...
Being heavily inspired by Blackadder... I am considering a Mars class Warlord titan. I need to embark on a project that not only benefits me for portfolio work, but also something that I can get use out of, limited as that may be lol. So. Rally all to the cause, I need to work on some templates, DAVE, MAX, VIK, CAPPIE, RW, any anyone else I have forgotten lend me your brains!!! Because maths has never been my strong point, I need to headbash to try and get scale ratio's together. so any help you can offer will greatly be appreciated!!!
So until we all convene. Iron within, Iron without!!!

If it is for portfolio work, you'll need it to be painted, and you said you don't have any paint? - It is best to build your paint collection over time just like your army. You don't want to have to make the huge investment of all the paint at once IMHO. A titan will also require a significant investment in tools, the plastic in and of itself is not expensive, but the tools to do so are quite a chunk. As for the dimensions, Max would have a better idea than I would. Automatically Appended Next Post: ...also, I'd recommend starting with something smaller first, to see if you enjoy scratchbuilding..It's not for everyone. I hate sculpting, If I started a huge sculpting project, I'd absolutely hate every minute of it.

Thanks for the imput Dave, well firstly I want to focus mainly on the plans to build a card mock-up. paints I'll be starting off aquiring this next weekend, but when it comes to painting it when built, I'll be buying a spray gun and compressor, which i already need to mask painting. Tools again I'm aquiring as I go on, so not much of a problem.
I need to focus on something that will benefit me as I said above. and this for me, is a "two birds with one stone" kinda thing. It's going to have a high amount of detail applied to it also. but I'm getting ahead of myself with this. Plans first, everything else last lols.

Point taken with starting small first, but I've built countless things from scratch over the year, even learning joinery to complete my degree at one point. for me this is small lols

hey... if you have done so many scratchbuilds in the past...then do share... cause we don´t know of these...yet...
as for plans... well there is a sort of group at yahoo... called BWC
i can send you a link via PM...actually i will send you now a PM with that... you can join them for free... lts of templates... and i mean lots... also quite an alife community there... tho nothing in comparrision to dakka.... but they show pics of their works and well...lots of patterns...for free^^...
and whyt i have only recently thanks to dave found verrrry helpful is to get you a good chopping device... the chop- it i got from mikro mark or anything that you can get a hold off can boost your building speed and abilities quite on a grande scale..:!
and for paints... well cheaper bottles of big artists paint for such a project i think would be good enough... no need to go waist deep into spending money for that ...

Hey all, thanks for your advice!!!
I have come to the conclusion that the height will be 700mm (as I need a round number for this to work), I will then take the epic 40k version of the model and measure its height in mm's. So with that in mind the scale equation would be:
700mm ÷ epic warlord titan's height = the number by which all measurements of the "epic warlord titan" should be multiplied by: to give 40k scale measurements.
If I have my logic working properly today, and gods knows I hope I do, everything should flow from this one equation.
*Fingers crossed*

well i cross my fingers too for you... because... if you go that route you have one major big problem... meassureing the epic bit by bit... that is quite tideous and also has lots of loopholes for making plenty of errors in meassuring...
if you feel up to that task... but that might be a rocky road!... my grandpa used to say: meassure up with great care...things turn up crappy and uneven on their own...

I realise there will be some error scaling it up, but, considering I'm doing a Mars pattern over a Lucius varient, I can get away with some discrepancies but also correct any I find to fit the version I'm doing.

Ordering online makes me have to attempt to be patient too as well, as patience never was one of my virtues. GW I only pop in on once in a blue moon in passing these days. and there are few hobby supply shops in my home town, so I have to rely on mail-orders unfortunately/fortunately. plus its cheaper ordering online lols. and as everything is done on a tight budget atm, its a bonus lols.
