Hate to be that guy, but as long as you have the book, what are the Contemptor rules like, and can they be used with CSM (trying to avoid getting IA 13 if I can help it.)

The rules for the Contemptor leaked a while ago. It only has the multi-media or Kheres Assault Cannon arm options in the rules and no option to change out the combi-bolter. It is Elites and can only be used in a Codex: Space Marines army. No ability to use it in a Chaos army.

The model itself, statline wise, isnt op. Only op because he's free, which is dumb.

In other words...stick with IA 13 (Or IA 2 if you're an Imperial).

I sort of feel the Heresy units included with the supplement are a slap in the face and if anyone insists that I must use version X because they're plastic rather than Resin I'm going to tell them to take a long walk off a short pier.

Because I've seen some beautiful conversions from the Plastics. They've opened the door for so many people locally to the 30k scene and to see GW attempt to shoehorn is laughable.

Now only a CSM player.

I'm very surprised, just realising, that Smite hasn't been moved to the Fulmination discipline.

While the powers are somewhat powerful, I quite like the flavour of these disciplines.

We had

Personal enhancement (Biomancy)
Fire (Pyromancy)
Moving objects (Telekinesis)
Mind Control (Telepathy)
Seeing the future (Divination)
Anti-Daemon
Daemonic

We now add

Anti-enemy curses
Anti-tank
Lightning
Moving the battlefield

Yes, there's a lack of options, but look at it this way:
1. You were going to take the Assault Cannon anyway.
2. It has a statline upgraded to be like other new Dreads (A4, CT).
3. It still keeps the nifty things (WS/BS5, Shielding).

Yeah, the new Contemptor is pretty nice. I would give him a Kheres anyway. Now, if only they would make a second frame to make a Mortis and a Furioso...

I still am pissed that the Sternhammer doesn't work with Crimson Fists(and Black Templars). They are the only two successors with characters in the regular Codex. Hell, they are the only two C:SM successors with any GW rules period. Why would they not make this usable for them? Instead they are stuck with the Ultramarines with the Gladius. Which sucks majorly because then Crimson Fists don't get Superior Bolter Drill. I really hope they FAQ either the Battle Demi-Company to allow Pedro Kantor to be taken in place of a Captain (he is more of a Captain than frickin' Vulkan or Shrike are, since he is the Crusade Company Captain of the Crimson Fists in addition to being Chapter Master).

Not getting Pedro is minor issue - Crimson Fists are still rocking out like champs in the supplement.
Black Templar players however? Not so much, since there's no way to take Crusader Squads anywhere, let alone Helbrect/Emp's Chump as options either.

I'm much more inclined to sympathise with the poor Templar players who got the epic shaft (yet again!), than anyone whining about not getting Pedro as their one and only missing piece.

I think it is a pretty big issue since he is the only model to add character to the a Crimson Fist army which allow you to actually play the Crimson Fist instead of just playing Imperial Fist painted with wrong colour because yellow was too hard or pretending to be someone else with Imperial Fist.

Templar are but this is not surprising. They died as soon as the codex was squated.

I am a bit late to the show, is this just a supplement with the newer datafaxes and a new psychic powers list to supplement the still new codex they just got or is this a whole new codex by itself?

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

Pedro is the sole Crimson Fists character in the rules. It is a bit deal not being able to take him. Especially given his ability to make Sternguard ObSec. It is one or two lines of errata.

Black Templars would need a little (I really mean little) work to make them work. They should be able to take Crusader Squads in formations in place of any Tactical Squads. Then add Emperor's Champion and Helbrecht to Strike Force Command and units able to be taken in place of a Captain. Done.

because he isn't a choice in the Sternhammer. Lysander is the only character available in Strike Force Command for that detachment.

Well it is designed to be "Imperial Fists" chapter speciality. I can understand why Black Templars were exlcuded, as their crusading melee FETH YOU HERETIC is quite a different MO to the IF's siege shooty mentality. Crimson Fists should have got their own chapter tactics tbf, but they don't strike me as siege marines either so i understand that too.

Ok, so I reread the Chater Detachment rule again and to me it implies that the only condition is that if you have any models with chapter tactics, they have to be from the same chapter. If so, all units get those rules. It says all units not just units with chapter tactics. I really want my Iron Hands vehicles to get IWND back. If I am reading wrong, can someone tell me why?

Sooooo guttered there aren't any BT formations. You couldn't use the regular formations as none of them allow crusader squads in the place of tactical squads right? Couldn't they have put at least one in, they took the time to put the traits in there.

Unless of course there is another reason (Sigmar let it be true) they left BT formations out of this supplement.

Is it just me or do the new strike forces from this supplement do not require you to take two core choices to get the extra rules?

1 Core + 1 Aux gets all of the special rules?

Compared to the Gladius where you need

2+ Core + Aux to get the Company support rule

That is correct. They do not require two cores. However, let's not pretend their benefits are anywhere near as potent as eleven free Razorbacks.

So with a Firespear and a Librarian Conclave you can have an AV16 Macro-cannon Aquila Strongpoint that shoots 4 Str D large blasts a turn.  And flies. That's a special thing.

I believe it's the detachment from the Get Started bundle, that lets a unit shoot in the movement phase as well as the assualt phase. You can load the Aquila with models that can fire the Macro Cannon twice a turn, and then buff it with Technomancy and move it with Geokinesis.

So, their listing for the new psychic cards says that Blood Angels and Dark Angels can use the new psychic powers - so all I need to do is just buy the psychic cards and I can use them with my Dark Angels?

Also, would any of the formations in this new supplement be usable with Space Wolves/Dark Angels/Blood Angels?

Sounds kinda unfair :<
