So here is my librarian... looking closeup like this shows me just how badly i rushed the hand and hammer... ah well im sure with a little soft GS and a bit of paint it should hide most of the really bad stuff.

still need to finish his psychic hood - just going to add three little wedges coming out of his helmet, a book on a chain, and perhaps some more scroll canisters, purity seals and parchments and suchlike.  Was also thinking of a long flowing tabarb-like thing with his legs showing through and a nice cloak on the back...  oh anf almost forgot - have to drill 2 bores for the storm bolter.

My only gripe is the right hand. Is very indistinguishable.

By the way. the scrolls are on their way.

I think this is a nice idea and well approached. I like the head, and the green stuff book on the shoulder pad is very good.

However the Force weapon hand and weapon to be honest lets it down. I would use the standard plastic thunder hammer from the assault squad sprue. Keep the plastic hand and shaft and then add extra to it, such as the greenstuff cables and force runes.

I'm not much of a fan of wrist mounted storm bolters in general as they are rather Grey Knightish. But this arm is done nicely and all in all It's a nice conversion.

yeh i know - the hand and hammer connection looks very dodgy... will have to take that apart and fix the hand.  I found a piece of hand that might work and make it look a lot better.

I actually thought my hammer was quite good - might just need to be remade properly with care and time... i was going for a long handled force hammer effect.

What strikes me are the cables on his chest they don't look good. I like the book and the hammer very much they look quite well.

ok so its the hand, the hammer and the cables... so any suggestions on the cables? or just a "redo"? I basically rolled to log thin pieces and tried to 'score' little ringlets - the one on the left arm (the bolter arm) got squashed... will redo and fix this week then upload new photos.

thanks for the support guys

ahhhahahahhaha - a friend just pointed out that I shouldn't really have a powerfist mounted storm bolter... but i couldn't find a nice open hand for this.  I haven't even started trying to figure out the points on any of my units yet.  I think I may have got ahead of myself... a buddy said i should just have built all my tac. SM standard and then modded the SRG's only - then built all my termies and modded a Librarian only.

ps whats the deal with Inquisitors ?  I have started conversion on a termie body to turn into an Inquisitor... will post some photos soon

Inquisitors can wear terminator armour.

Although personally i think its against character as they wont have a Black Carapace and be able to interact with the suit to the same extent as a true Space Marine.

One method for cables is winding fine copper wire around a thicker wire or soldering lead. You can secure the fine wire in place with a few drops super glue and then bend the other wire into whatever shape. It´s a bit more work than using green stuff but it also gives a more "precise" look.

I don't like his head and the armour is too plain and boring for a Librarian.

GSing is hard but keep at it. work on sharper edges

work on sharper edges??? please tell me how!  i hate this GS - it always goes "clompy" then i wait for it to cure and cut it and usually stuff it up worse and have to start all over!  aaaargh.

all i have are two blades, a pair of tweezers/stamp clampers and a little nail file thing - i know i dont have the right tools, any suggestions are most welcome.

thanks

The added book looks cool also the fixed hammer. If you are good at painting just free hand the insignia looks as good as GS work sometime even better.

good at painting... mmm, well the last time i painted anything other than a bathroom wall was about 12 years ago maybe... so i dont know, still haven't bought the paints yet - going for valejo, got some nice brushes though... still looking for a "1 hair" or "single strand" brush for the very very fine details... been trying to find some good advice about painting skin and eyes - i was thinking of giving my librarian "glowing" blue eyes - so will paint the inside ridge of the helmet with light blue highlites.

cant wait for my other bits to arrive from 2 GREAT dakka members then i can really put the works on my librarian...

Still to come:
Robe/tabard with long hanging "purity scroll" type things with scribbles all down it (front and back from belt downward)
Hanging litany scroll or three scroll canisters on front of robe
Scroll canisters on left hip
Shield on left shoulder (not sure about this yet)
Psychic hood "sticking out pieces" from the cowl of the suit - going to redo the cables
Purity seal cluster and GS to hide nasty gap between forearm and Force Hammer
Purity seal cluster on outside of left boot
Cloak/Robe around back - tied off in front of torse with small icon and "rope"
Litany scroll hanging from back of robe/cloak

then i cant decide if i want the lib. to have a banner or not - although i think i may forego the banner.

any suggestions?

You let do dakka members do the work ? And I thought I was good at exploiting cheap polish workers.

The only advice for eyes I can give is to not use white for the whites of the eyes. Use a light gray.

Exactly--I made the mistake of using white on a bunch of cadians...looks terrable. Guess they saw the worth of their flashlights and tshirts.

huh? i think i lost you there...

My brother was thinking of painting his Inquisitional Storm Troopers to look like Star Wars storm troopers - white armor and black joints - i think i have talked him out of it - i just cant see it working.

The Imperial Guard has some of the least effective equipment amongst their infantry. The lasguns are often refered to as 'Imperial Flashlights' (as they are without a doubt the weakest weapon in the game--even the grot blasta is stronger, IIRC) and the flack armour is referenced as nothing more than a T-shirt but I dont' see this reference too often on Dakka.
