So this is more of a modeling project. Not a competitive army. I won't be taking this to tournaments. Even if the StDs book release is extravagant and OP. I'd more like to post this to see what people think of all my silly synergies and also how poorly I'll fair against actual armies like Stormcast, Deepkin, Flesh-Eaters, Ironjawz etc.
Without further ado:

Heroes:
Lord of Chaos, General, Mark of Khorne, Ghyrstrike Reaperblade, Flames of Spite command trait

Sorceror Lord

Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount, Mark of Slaanesh

Daemon Prince, Hellforged sword, Mark of Slaanesh

Ally: Bloodsecrator

Battleline:
5x Chaos Knights, Glaives, Mark of Slaanesh

2x10 Chaos Warriors, hand weapons and shields, Mark of Khorne

Other:
10x Chaos Chosen, Mark of Khorne

Splintered Fang warband

Corvus Cabal warband

Ally: Chaos Dragon

As far as tactics, the Dragon and Slaaneshi Prince are fire and forget missiles for tearing up horde and elite units respectively.

The Warriors, Chosen, Sorceror, Bloodsecrator and foot Lord will roll around in a ball where all the infantry will get +1 attack and rerolling hit roll ones and the Chosen will have rerolling saves of 1 from the Sorceror while they kill things and hand out wound rerolls to everyone.

The Lord on mount and Knights will roll around together where they can all reroll 1s on charges, and use the Lord's command ability to entirely reroll charges and add 1 to hit to the charge glaives.

Corvus Cabal for flying to far objectives over terrain and the Splintered Fang cult to camp an objective with their regenerating wound sponge and mortal wounds against would-be invaders.

Daemonic Power can do work on Knights, Daemon Prince or Chaos Dragon. Whatever is in range of the sorceror and engagement range with an enemy.

Thoughts?

Don't use the StD allegiance abilities; use the Grand Alliance Chaos ones instead as they are a bit stronger (especially with the Lord of War command trait).

You don't want to use units as missiles with this army, they'll just die. You want to keep things bunched up to support each other and make it difficult for the opponent to gang up on any one unit.

Also, you're really going to want to have a warshrine. It is a great support unit. Also a great excuse to really go wild with converting something.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

It seems like using Chaos Allegiance and a Warshrine focuses more on making one unit (like Chosen) very good by granting +1 to hit and rerolls of 1s on hits and wounds (for an unmarked unit) however the Chaos Warriors will miss a lot of their attacks and lose a lot of benefit that the Chosen offer by adding rerolls to wound. Unless they roll a 6 for the battle trait.

The biggest problem i see with that is even chosen and greatblade warriors arent very good. -1 rend and 1 damage with all that hitting and wounding support is disappointing at best. Chosen also dont benefit from themselves unless split into separate units and wasting non-aura buffs. I think on the deathball, churning out a ton of wounds, even with no rend will net more kills because even 2+ rerollable saves fail sometimes.

Minor other concern, if a command point is spent to give a warrior blob the Khorne mark buff, the Knights wont have the command ability to grant them the +1 to hit. Unless they roll a 6 on the battle trait. They also lose benefits of being marked such as rerolls ones on charges, hits, wounds or saves.

I would love to convert up a Warshrine eventually to fit this army, just to have one but wouldnt quite even know where to start. I need some kind of snake dais with a sacrificial altar and cultists on it.

The Warhsrine also bugs me for its propensity to fail prayers. 1s and 2s are still a 33% chance and with Slaves aura, its always on. On all units near the general.

The synergy between flames of spite extra mortals and Ghyrstrike is also pretty neat. Especially with rerolling 1s from MoK. Cant get that in Chao Allegiance since the Flames trait is unique to Slaves and I dont think realm and allegiance artefacts can be taken on the same model (AFAIK)

The Prince is quite fragile but also cheap enough that if they tie up or weaken a very scary unit I'd be happy. Especially if they manage to snipe some lynchpin character(s) with a flurry of multi damage attacks from getting to fight twice.

The Dragon on the other hand would be best used to hurt a big mob, get stuck in and then have the Knights or death ball come in and clean up.

Thanks for the ideas! Id love to hear how you think a StD allegiance list vs a Chaos allegiance list would stack up against 2.0 tomes.

If you can find one, I'd suggest a Chaos War Mammoth since it doesn't have to be an ally.
