Hey geekkios!

So with 2019 come and gone there haven't really been any games that I bough. I got a bunch of DLC for TWWH 2 and some old games like witcher trilogy, Anthem (because £5 in a discount bin second hand) and a few other bargains but nothing "New" because there wasn't really anything I wanted.

2020 however has me piqued.
I already told my GF I'm taking a couple days off to play FF7 remake which I have pre-ordered. Don't judge me.
Other than that I'm excited for Doom Eternal, because who does not want to be The Doom slayer to kill some time.

I'm aware of Black desert(or red desert?) which I seen a cool looking trailer for. So I might give that a go.

So what is everyone looking forward to in 2020?

N1RV-Ann-A, the sequel to VA-11 Hall-A, which I adored, so really looking forward to more cyberpunk bartender action.

Necrobarista, another visual novel whose trailers really got me interested.

Resident Evil 3, loved the RE2 remake so have high hopes for this one as well.

Black Desert is already released, and has been for a couple years now IIRC. It's a fantasy MMO with a mix of medieval-asian and medieval-european stylings. Fairly good for what it is, really, one of the better MMOs of late.

You may be thinking of Crimson Desert? Which I'm not sure if it'll be released in 2020 as it's not got much info out there.

Yes my bad. Crimson desert not red or black desert
Saw a trailer for this and sort of didn't want to spoil any more by researching it. I thought it was more of a single-player campaign type game. MMO's terrify me.. Before you know you have the best magic sword on the server and ride dragons but also 3-4 years of your life are gone lol. (speaking from personal experience)

Nothing really on my radar.
Cyberpunk would be one but I found 2019 pretty uninspiring and dont see much in 2020 either.

Maybe Im just getting old

For my own list... the only big name games I'm looking forward to this year are these:

Doom Eternal
Cyberpunk
Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2
Baldur's Gate 3 (if it's released in 2020)
The Elden Ring (if it's released in 2020)
The upcoming Stellaris DLC, Federations

Granted that's still more than I was looking forward to last year.

More Total War content is all I'm looking forward to. For Warhams and their historical bread and butter.

Maybe, just maybe, some news on the next entry in the Total War historical franchise even if its most definitely not coming this year. I'm ready for Medieval 3.

Got a list of small RPGs I'm looking forward to, several of which are surprisingly based on the open license for 3rd or 5th edition D&D.

Realms Beyond: Ashes of the Fallen
Solasta: Crown of the Magister
Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms
Dark Envoy
Zoria: Age of Shattering
Weird West (this one is actually a western done by people who worked on Prey and Dishonored.

Nice bevy of smaller studios doing potentially interesting things (though I expect some will be not so good).

Also eyeing 'Humankind,' the Civ-alike from the Endless people. Not sold on their weird idea of freely transforming into completely unrelated cultures (because nothing in history works like that), but I'm curious to see the rest of it.

Maybe Mount and Blade 2, but not sold on that yet. The preview footage they showed off a couple months back looked awful.

Troy's occupying the historical slot. Given that there's currently an announced but unreleased game (i.e. Troy) with no release date other than "this year", I doubt there will be any announcements about a big new historical game.

Totally forgot about Troy. Not too pumped for it, tbh.

Probably be a Greeky version of Thrones of Britannia. Which I enjoyed for a bit, but just couldn't really get super deep into it.

I second Baldur's Gate 3 (assuming it's released). I'm still playing the Enhanced editions to this day.

And on a side note, what a shame the Icewind Dale 2 source code has been lost and Beamdog can't make an Enhanced version...

Troy's occupying the Saga slot- its a separate team (something they mention in their development blogs, though those have been rare lately). Three Kingdoms DLC is still occupying the historical slot

Its going to be Troy, 3K DLC and maybe Warhammer 3 this year/next year.

[Aside: Interestingly enough they've put up a job announcement for 'Head of Brand: Total War Fantasy,' which suggests they're looking beyond Warhammer 3, with an eye towards signing on other licenses

Last of Us Part 2, big fan of seeing where they go with this one, especially since we'll be able to play between Ellie and Joel more equally in the campaign.

Cyberpunk 2077, don't need to say much about this, after Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red became one of my top developer studios and I can't see it being a bad investment after what's been shown so far.

WC3 Reforged, my first RTS experience, just having a proper queue and multiplayer lobby/server system means it's good to go for me.

Doom Eternal, was a big fan of the Doom 2016 reboot and they have even more melee weapons in this version? Sign me up

Yakuza 7, they're doing a more RPG spin rather than action-adventure mechanics they've had for a while, so it'll be an interesting change on the formula I'll be looking forward to.

Games that aren't clear when they'll be released:
Ghost of Tsushima, suprised that Sucker Punch has taken this long to release their next-gen game that isn't Infamous related, it looks reminiscent of Sekiro, just less with assassinations and more swordplay

Persona 5 Scramble (For the West), normally not one for Dynasty Warriors, but with the Persona collaboration and how Atlus has done a good job of not doing a hack job when crossing over to different genres, I'm looking forward to how they mix it up with this one.

Tales of Arise, recently got into the Tales series with their most recent one, so I'm looking forward to the next part of the franchise.

I second WC3 Reforged, though I am disappointed that BLZ isn't remaking WC and WC2 campaigns along with it -- or at least an "abridged" version of WC and WC2 campaigns. I can't even get the battle.net box versions to run, let alone try to deal with the small control groups of those games.

So far it seems to be WC3 with a better graphical update and some minor QoL changes, some new characters and all the updated models obviously, but as a remake I can't say I expected more from it. Maybe there will be post-launch update contents, though.

Maybe Bannerlord will be out as Taleworlds announced. I look forward to it, if for nothing else, I've waited since the day it was announced years ago.
