...who would it be and why? No, they will not kill you, even if they have a violent tendency. I've often pondered what it would be like to speak to any of the characters within the 40K Universe and wondered what other people thought. Discuss!

Eldrad, or maybe Urien Rakarth. Those are both some extremely knowledgeable cats.

Assuming he doesn’t kill me on purpose for not being an Imperial human or “accidentally” poisons me with mjod I think Lukas would be one of the chillest characters in the 40k universe.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Hands down, Saint Katherine.

I would ask her about the battle against the witch cult of Mnestius by whom she was martyred, so that I could recreate the battle on the table top to honour her sacrifice.

Then I would ask her about her vision for her order going forward, and I would faithfully make it happen.

Malcador the Sigilite might be an interesting one although I suspect that getting a straight answer out of him would be like trying to get blood out of a stone.

I don't know their name, but I'd wanna talk to the first Necrontyr who thought "maybe we should turn these gas clouds into robot dudes and wage war with everyone" and slap some sense into his gangly behind.

An Old One would be my first choice as they are intelligent and ancient beyond measure. While not immortal, they are close to as you can get to it. They've seeded countless worlds with life, creating what we now believe to be the Aeldari and Krork. They constructed the Webway, something that the Emperor of Mankind had trouble in trying to replicate. Cold, logical, and efficient.

I'd talk to Malcador, I feel like he'd be a lot easier to talk to without feeling overwhelmed like you would be with the Emperor, while also getting a lot more insight into the DAoT and his own past experiences alongside how and when he met the Emperor.

Sevatar because you gotta dig a psychotic transhuman killing machine with a killer sense of humor.

That I'd like to ask him what it's like to go into battle hanging onto the side of a fething starfighter.

Great question - tough choice!

Either:

Cegorach (the laughing god) or Sanguinius.

For the Emperor and Sanguinius!

I'd be tempted to say Urien Rakarth or Eldrad, because they've got so much I could learn from them. But I feel like a lot of that conversation would just be me fanboying out and not really offering them much out of the deal.

My setting knowledge, though, means that Farsight would be an awfully productive conversation. I've definitely got info I can put on the table for him, and there's so many questions I want to ask him.

This is a really fun idea. As much as I dislike the Space Wolves, I'd like to talk to a Heresy-era rune priest and have him explain exactly how he does not violate Nikea.

Trazyn I'm sure has some really good stories and might be convinced to give me a tour of his collection.

I'd like to talk to The Beast(s), just so I can hear what an ork speaking perfect High Gothic sounds like. As some of the most intelligent orks that ever lived, I'd love to hear conversations between the six Prime Orks in their Gargant-Palace throne room.

The ork ambassadors speaking to the High Lords and demanding Terra's surrender was such a cool moment in the otherwise-meh novels.

That Chaos Daemon that has two heads. One that lies and one that tells the truth. Then ask the tough questions, like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

Easy way around telling which head is which. Just ask them what is 1+1.

Macharius - at the end of his 7 year crusade, instead of ending, he could start another crusade in a different direction and place!

Isha - when is she going to give the mortals her equivalent of the Panacea STC that Malys stole. Or is she supporting Nurgle secretly?

I will not rest until the Tabletop Imperial Guard has been reduced to complete mediocrity. This is completely reflected in the lore.

Picking a single one I'd say Inquisitor Kryptmann, I'm tremendously fan of this character and the lore surrounding him and it'd steer the discussion towards how he imagined these drastic measures of his and how he'd stop the tyranids once and for all, if this were ever to be within the realm of possibilities.

Another character i'd pick in second would be Szarekh.

40k: Necrons/Imperial Guard/ Space marines
Bolt Action: Germany/ USA
Project Z.

"The Dakka Dive Bar is the only place you'll hear what's really going on in the underhive. Sure you might not find a good amasec but they grill a mean groxburger. Just watch for ratlings being thrown through windows and you'll be alright." Ciaphas Cain, probably.

You would have to discern which head was giving you the right numbers though.

Malcador would be cool since we don't know that much about the Dark Age. Beyond that, talking with Guilliman about the world of the Crusade and the Heresy and how it compares to 40k could be fascinating. It could also be interesting to talk to the different Chaos gods and how they reconcile their different natures. What does Khorne feel about upholding both an honorable warrior ethos and the love of absolute, random slaughter? Why does Nurgle's version of rebirth always have to be so hideous? Does Tzeentch react differently to different types of change? Does Slaanesh recognize a difference between 'wholesome' pleasure and excess? Also, I'd love to ask the Emperor why he gave the ok to allow for the creation of the World Eaters and the Night Lords.

The Ork ambassador would be super interesting: finally getting into their mind and having a proper discussion with one of them.
I really need to get to this series of books !
Malcador or a primarch I don't know, they would probably be too intelligent, too high, to be interested and interesting for us.

Possibly Lorgar. Try to make him understand why the Emperor is doing what he is doing and make him see that dealing with Chaos is not worth it and try to persuade him into staying loyal.

With a loyal Lorgar the Horus Heresy is a much weaker rebellion. For instance Angron would die due to Butcher's Nails and no Lorgar turning him into a Daemon Prince.

And Ultramar wouldn't be isolated due to Lorgar not summoning warp storms around it.
